I have been very extremely happy living in the 55 building. I am older and I can honestly say that of all the maintenance and concierge staff working here , if I ever had a problem and needed help, every single one of them would drop what they are doing to assist me. That 's just the way I feel about our guys and also the 75 staff are wonderful. About 1 and 1/2 years ago a family moved next door to me - our front doors practically intersect.- and now, I am drowning in Marijuana and tobacco smoke. My eyes burn and tear, my Asthma ( which was more like a childhood exacerbation ) -is now causing shortness of breath. These neighbors flood the hallway with their stinking suffocating smoke. I have called and written letters as many of my neighbors have as well. This is a nightmare for me- and also Brodsky's nightmare & headache as I It takes a lot to kick tenants out. It doesn't look like these people are going anywhere , ever. I will be moving out at the end of my lease and I hope I feel better after that.

This building is not that bad from what I lived here for a short period of time.

We lived in the building for 15 happy wonderful years. The feeling we had between management, staff and neighbors was like living with one big happy family. We moved out of the city for a little over a year. When we decided to come back there was nowhere we would consider living but back home at West End Towers. When we moved as sad as we were to leave, the management could not have been kinder or more helpful. In particular the brightest shining star here in the Leasing Manager, the amazing, fantastic, Suzanne Lucas. She made the moving out process as easy as possible and when we called saying we wanted to come back, she was not only thrilled to have us back, she could not have been more accommodating. We cannot say enough about this amazing woman, smart, kind and helpful in every way. We've said it to her and will say it again here, SHE IS THE BEST!!! And her staff and the rest of building management and staff are literally like family to us. We are so grateful to be back home!!! Best building, best people, best prices in Manhattan. WE LOVE WEST END TOWERS!!! Rob and Amy Sayers

Review for 75 West End Ave, lower floor. I Wish I could give this place a better review. I moved here last year and had to find a place to live quickly as I was starting a new job. The no fee buildings were really the only way to go since I didn't have time to deal with condo board approvals and don't want to commit to buying anything at this early stage in my job. I am a 50-something female exec living alone - husband's job is in another city and we travel to see each other every week. Have had a non-ending series of problems with my neighbor. She is a heavy pot smoker - 3x day - and also a heavy cigarette smoker. The smoke literally comes through the drywall (I've sealed up all of the baseboard and outlets). How do I know? Because she also set her apartment on fire. Set.Her.Apartment.On.Fire. The smoke visibly poured through the drywall into my apartment. She yells in a paranoid fashion at all hours ("Who do they think they are???!!!" "I'm going to make you sorry!!!!" and so forth). Her dog barks all day and night. I've complained, and so have many of the neighbors on the floor. Nothing. No response from the management. No change in the behavior. Scary and an ongoing bummer to come home to that every evening (yes she "works from home" which means that she's awake all night ... smoking, yelling, setting things on fire). The neighbors above me scrape chairs back and forth ("rrrrrkrkkkkk!!!!") constantly starting at about 3 AM. In general, the doormen and front desk people are nice, I will say that. The building is undergoing a "facelift" but it's older and shabbily constructed. Just can't compete with the newer buildings going up all around the neighborhood. Will leave as soon as I can do so.

For those searching for an apartment, West End Towers (and all Brodsky properties) are NO-FEE rentals. Check here before seeing a real estate agent and save yourself a fee. Generally a good place to live. I have been here 10 years. The elevators have been renovated, a year long project that caused inconvenience but is now complete. A major lobby and hallway renovation is nearing completion. The renovations are nice but in my opinion were unnecessary; done more to modernize in order to keep up with the new buildings that have sprung up in the area in the last few years. The apartments are quiet and clean. Neighbors are polite. If there is one drawback to the building, there is no real sense of community, no common areas such as recreation rooms or a roof deck, which are often found in newer buildings. But I suppose everyone retreating to their own apartment is very New York. There is a NYSC gym in the building that is not included in the rent. However. their rates are reasonable and they are always offering membership specials. The gym is decent, it has a pool and it is convenient so there are no excuses for not getting downstairs to the gym. There is a small park across the street with a recently renovated children's play area. There is a privately run day care service on the corner. I have never heard of any insect or bedbug problems in the building. The doormen/concierge are friendly and professional. All deliveries are safe and secure. There is a dry cleaning/laundry service that delivers to the building. There are two laundry rooms on the first floor, run by an outside company, and new machines were recently installed that take payment cards so you no longer have to keep a lot of quarters for the machines. The maintenance workers are prompt and professional. The common areas are cleaned regularly and all repairs are completed in a timely manner. Garbage chutes and recycling rooms are on every floor. The building is pet friendly and there are many beautiful dogs coming and going. The dog owners are generally responsible about cleaning up after their pets. The area is quiet. A few retail stores have sprung up and hopefully more to come as new apartment buildings appear in the area. There are several grocery stores nearby - Western Beef, Jubilee, Gracefully and Gourmet Garage. There is a 24 hour convenience store/deli 1 block away. There is a Whole Foods at Columbus Circle. One block away (on West End Ave between 61/62) is a great bagel shop. The area is mostly residential. That helps keep the area relatively quiet and clean. However. Lincoln Center is only two blocks away. There are restaurants and shops of all types within walking distance on Broadway, Columbus Ave and Amsterdam Ave. There is a public housing development across the street that is clean, quiet and well maintained. I walk through there at all hours without any problem other than a occasional whiff of marijuana. High school basketball leagues use the courts and I sometimes stop for a few minutes to watch the games. The LaGuardia Performing Arts High School is within one block and their performances are open to the public. (That is also your polling place on election days.) Although not right on the corner, the 1-2-3 and A-B-C-D trains are within walking distance. The 57, 66 and 72 crosstown buses are very close. In the morning and evenings there is a free shuttle to 59th St. /Columbus Circle. Taxis are often waiting in front of the building and there is much taxi availability on West End Ave. Riverside Park is nearby and there is easy access to the walking/jogging/bike path along the Hudson River (stretches from downtown to GW Bridge). Central Park is also in the area. There is a new Citibike station on 64th St. and West End Ave.

Well, I've just read two reviews of this building, and I have to strongly disagree with them. Though there was a period of time when the elevators weren't working, and then there was a period when new ones were being installed, so there always were some down, I have to say that now that renovation on them is just about done, they are faster and cleaner and they get you where you have to go. I have no problem going to the laundry room and then going back to my apartment. The front entrance is now being renovated, and with patience that area will look sparkling new and modern. I have always found the management helpful and pleasant to deal with. I am always greeted with a smile when I go to the office for help. The staff is great. Any problems and they are taken care of quickly. As far as transportation is concerned, we are way west and though it is true there are no subways on the corner, it's just a two block walk to one. If you don't want to walk the two blocks, there are two crosstown buses at your doorstep. If you're still unhappy, every morning there is a shuttle that takes you right to Columbus Circle and another in the evening that will take you home. Sure there's traffic, and sometimes the shuttle is late, but that's NYC!! I've lived here for 6 years and love everything about it! NY Sports Club right on the main floor with a great pool. Great people and walking distance from Lincoln Center and the theater district. Great neighborhood and great people. I plan to live here for a long time!

The elevators have ruined this building for me. I could list a bunch of of positives (neighborhood, some of the front desk guys) or negatives (building feels old and not well maintained, ever-present scaffolding), but everything else seems irrelevant when it can take up to 20 minutes to go up or down because once again, one (or two) of the three elevators are out of service. Need to walk the dog in the morning before work? Better build in an extra 30-40 minutes unless you want to run the risk of being late. Want to do laundry on the weekend? May as well stay downstairs while the load runs, because if the elevators aren't in tip top shape that day, you're just going to be turning around shortly after you get back upstairs. It seems like the most frequently uttered phrase by the front desk is "I called the repair guys, they're on their way." After a year+ of terrible service, the crowning glory was a night when for several hours, all three elevators were down. The building finally announced in April 2014 that it would be replacing the elevators, but the only visible progress so far is that one of the three has been taken entirely out of service while they work on it. Today I found myself (once again) waiting in line in the lobby because there's only one elevator servicing 39 floors. But don't worry - they promised me that the repair guy is on his way.

Ok, let's first address the elevant errrr elephant in the room: the elevators in this building are notorious! So much so that this ended up being a deal killer for me and I decided against renting here after reading reviews, looking up the building's report card -- https://www.addressreport.com/manhattan-apartments/75-west- -- and not seeing any sign from other reviewers that this chronic problem has been fixed. Also, for those not aware, this building isn't really close to any subway entrances at all and if you want to ride Citi Bike, forget it - there are no Citi Bike locations close to here.

I lived at 75 West End for one year and I couldn't wait to get out. The building feels dingy and outdated, the elevators are always broken, most of the doormen are rude and I had two bikes stolen from the storage room. The amenities in the building are lame - no gym, roof deck or common areas. The pros are the apartments are good sized, the morning shuttle to 59th street is a nice perk and the location is close to Riverside Park and Central Park. I would never recommend this building as a place to live.

I have waited until living here 12 months to write this review. I read the reviews on here before signing my lease and I found it helpful; in return i want to help someone else with their decision. First of all the reviews about the horrible and inconsistent elevator service is TRUE. I can't say I wasn't warned. There have been 2 occasions in 12 ,months I had to use the stairs because the elevators in my tower (all 3) failed. Next, i recall reading a review on here saying their were problems with bed bugs, also TRUE! By law the leasing agent disclosed this to us as the signing of our lease, but I never thought it would happen to us. It did!!! The management team was very responsive, but it took 4 months to get rid of them! I was completely disgusted, especially since I'm Extremely clean and a bonified neat freak. In regards to he smell of urine on the sidewalk entrance to the building, also TRUE, and was horrible during the summer months. Although I list several negatives, my 2br 2ba unit on a high floor is really nice, we have a beautiful wing layout, which is the best and largest unit the building has. Neighboring buildings are 2k more a month for similar space. The staff is friendly and once you get used to the place it becomes home. Also, I should note that my unit is very quiet, although I hear that's not always he case on lower floors. I should not have moved here, but I have made the best of it.
