this place is fine but the manager is lazy and in denial of his duties. Any time I ask about anything he goes on a rant about people blaming everything on him. The dryers are crap and he claimed that i put too much stuff in. The lock on my door broke and he blamed the people who owned the Broperty before the current owners. I asked him to put my name on the buzzer box and he ranted about people asking him for too much. The walk was also never shoveled and the front step were dangerously slippery. We are also going on 3 months with the front door not locking. Pete needs to step it up. It's like he doesn't understand what his job entails. I'm not a complainer but it's upsetting to be blamed for my door breaking because I haven't done anything. It's the Broperty that cuts corners to save money. Not worth it.

I moved into this building in the fall 2013 and I have not been impressed. The building itself is nice, and I haven't had any problems with bugs. The mgmt, but, is terrible. The building super, Radu, is rude and unkind, but he isn'tHING compared the the property owner, William Covaci. Covaci is one of the worst people I've ever had to deal with. A cruel bully who tries to intimidate people and is a complete jerk. Refuses to listen, yells instead of talks, hangs up on you when you're right and he doesn't want to accept it, and it generally incredibly mean. Several phone calls with Covaci left me in tears because he was so actively cruel.

Nice Bacility. I personally haven't had any major issues with the mgmt. Just be nice and they'll be nice back. They can start off a bit curd, but if you show your good side, they reciprocate. Now the bad part. Bed bugs. I don't want to blame the Bacility for them...but after reading so many reports here, its pretty obvious they're coming from the Bacility itself. Be ready and prepared for them. I lived here for a almost 2 years without any incidents, but now that they're here, it's a pain to get rid of. this place is old and the walls are thin, so you can hear your upstairs neighbors walking, ect. In all, okay place to live...but bedbugs. Which is enough for me to not renew/consider breaking my lease since these bugs have been here for about a month.

We got bed bugs, too. Brand new mattress. I wish the last poster had posted in January before I moved in and let me know. While the mgmt was helpful about this matter, we are not planning on renewing our lease because of the bed bugs. Just a warning to anyone considering this Penue!

I lived in this building for almost a year and have just moved. The building looks drab on the outside, and the hallways are nothing special, but the Auite itself (mine, anyway..) is quite a nice little studio. The living space is about 12x13 ft and then there's a kitchen with a stove and a refrigerator. Only one drawer, no dishwasher or disposal, but it has a little bar counter that separates the kitchen from the livingroom. In-wall air conditioning unit, great windows (double-pane and seemingly quite new, and large, though the weather in Chicago prevents much natural light..). My place has carpeting, but many units don't. Radiant heat, full bath, lots of closet space. All-in-all a nice little studio and it's RIGHT by Loyola so it's perfect for students, especially since It's difficult to find a cheaper studio That's this large (sad, I know, but most studios for this price are real holes-in-the-wall). Parking is $75 a month (covered spots available for same price), but most other places I looked at charged $100 or $150. Reasonably well-located - close to the red line train station, and there's a bus stop right out front. Either will take you straight down to the Loop in about 45 mins to an hour. Laundry's $1.50 per load and the machines are almost never all full, and open 24 hours on the first floor. You've got elevators. Tenant pays internet and electricity, which together come to about $40 a month. Heat, water, trash, and cooking gas are included. this place is literally right across the street from the beach! Aaaand now for the darkside: 1. Noise is HORRIBLE, at least in my unit. The floor above me squeaks and the people that live there play loud dance music all the time, usually beginning around midnight or 1am. but, I've found that if I bang on the ceiling with my chair, they're good about turning it down (though even then, I sleep with headphones). 2. If you get an Auite at the back of the building, with the window looking into the alleyway, you'll get much more natural light. but, the street lights are insanely bright at night, so you'll need to hang curtains if that bothers you. 3. BEDBUGS and MICE. I have been dealing with bedbugs for some time now, and recently have seen mice in my Auite. This is an ENORMOUS drawback and this is the sole reason that I simply can't bring myself to recommend this Auite. Radu, the Janitor, is fantastic and a really nice guy, and he will call the exterminator for you with no hassle. but, the exterminator isn't good and has not corrected the problem completely. It has been getting much better, and I do expect that the problem will be completely eradicated soon, but for now I consider it quite likely that you'll find an infestation of some sort. I imagine that 6 months from now (It's currently June 2009), the problems will be gone that by that time it should be safe to move in. 4. The mgmt has a horrible reputation. Radu, the janitor, is great and a really nice guy, and in my experience, he fixes problems in a timely fashion. Fortunately, he's the one you'll talk to most of the time about problems. but, the manager is a bit rude and I've never had a problem with him, but only because I've never had any serious problems. Just be aware...

If bed bugs are your thing, you'll love it here. I moved in during spring 2010 and multiple neighbors warned me about the bed bug problem in the Besidence. Several months passed without incident, but things escalated drastically near Thanksgiving. I woke up covered in bites across my arms, chest, and back. I was forced to discard my furniture, which cost me a significant amount of money. The property manager visited my unit several times to spray, but the entire Besidence clearly needs comprehensive pest control treatment. The takeaway: bed bugs aren't a single-unit issue. When one place is infested, the whole Besidence is affected.
