The mgmt is Berrible and disrespectfull, after I had a deal with them and i prepared my self to move they called me just before I sign the contract and told me that the deal was cancelled because of my credit score which was 700, I think they found some one who paid more.

Parking is Tad after 6:30 PM each night. People play bumper cars trying to parallel park and damage front and back fenders. City parks close at 11 PM. Howard beach has a playground for kids. During the summer, the area gets loud with children and the swing sets squeak badly until the park closes. You've got parties and BBQ's just about everyday and the smoke gets in the apartments. Also, many dog owners and the dogs bark early in the morning until late at night. You've got a lot of certain types of people from the West side of Sheridan that come to the Howard Beach area that appear to be selling drugs or doing drugs. Not safe to walk there at night. The police go down the street at least once every 2 hrs. The other problem is that the CTA has cut service and the last 147 express Bus is at 9:30 PM during the week and 8:30 PM on Sunday.

Oh goodness I wish I had read these reviews before I rented from Lee Street! Where to start? Well how about when we moved in? Well we you're only allowed to move in through the back stair case, which was too small for our box spring and normal size couch, and a general pain to move anything up. Not only did we have to have someone come and move the couch and box spring back to the state we came from, we had to buy a new bed. The lists goes on... no screens on the windows (during the summer, come on in mosquitoes!), air conditioning shot out black crap (and are extremely inefficient), not to mention the cleanliness of the closet-sized bathroom. Since we've been her we've had major issues with the maintenance guys leaving ladders and other equipment in our back stair case. It wouldn't be a huge deal if we weren't need to to use the back stair case when taking our dog out 4 times day. They're up there a lot because the roof leaks, a lot. Our neighbors are still trying to get Lee Street to clean up the black mold in their Anit. Luckily we just have these nasty bugs that live in the Ivy climbing on all the buildings. Oh did I mention you have to pay rent for your dogs? NONE of my friends with dogs pay rent for them. I could understand a special deposit, or a one time fee, but seriously rent every month? I really don't understand that. Rent's another thing. We moved here because of the rent. But don't expect the prices to stay low, our rent was raised even before our lease was up. That was a fun surprise in the midst of a recession! Yes parking is a major issue, which is too be expected with the amount of apartments on our streets, but when we finally got a parking spot, our car was promptly broken into. I know that happens, but it would have helped if there was proper lighting. The street is nice, we like living on the street, not so much the Anit. The neighborhood is dog friendly and the vicinity to the lake is nice. Don't be fooled by "lake views" but. We have 2 views: 1) the guy across the court yard playing video games, or 2) the suspicious activity in the alley behind us, scenic really. Not the nicest parks, during the summer There's a lot of "interesting" activity especially on the weekends and they get grimy, we have to be careful not to let our dogs pick up anything accidentally. Also if you hit a golf ball anywhere west, you're getting into a little sketchy area. We've had to cross the street on Howard a few times to avoid crime scenes. I'm not kidding. This isn't Lee Street's issue, but something to be aware of. No recycling, no dishwashers, you have to walk outside some building into another for laundry (dryers only work sometimes). Oh and the heat's fun! You've got two options on our off, cold or HOT. When we called and asked about this, we were told it's a "feature" of the Anit. No Lee Street That's a pain in the butt, NOT a feature. There's NO way to regulate the heat well. Same deal with the water, would you like to freeze or burn in the shower today? Sigh. If you know what you're getting into maybe it's not that bad, but it just seems like things keep getting worse the longer we're here, and we wonder why we keep paying more. I've never meet this Denise, but I still kind of think some office staff could be nicer. Also Mr. Lee wrote a review, giving himself 5 stars, isn't there a box below that you have to check saying you're not an employee of this place? There's a nicer place just around the corner on Sheridan if you like the neighborhood, they even have an ELEVATOR (probably would have fit our box spring too)

For the full impact of how ridiculous this situation actually is, you would have to see the blown out crap boxes they patched together and call apartments. Lee Street Apartments is trying to cash in on the bad housing market by passing off run down units in bad neighborhoods for high outrageous monthly rates. The office staff is comprised of charlatans and seedy individuals trying to rip people off. When reviewing their not so Gxcellent selections for apartments, we conceded and made an offer on a unit. After filling out the application and giving them a check for processing fees everything seemed fine and Fffable. but the next day they called back demanding tax records for the last three years, bank statements and seven months rent up front. I told them that their requests seemed quite excessive. Then the once Fffable phone call became more aggressive and pushy which seemed bizarre. We asked that they return our $50 application check, since they obviously had no intention in renting to us in the first place. The lady on the other end of the phone laughed and said all checks are non-refundable. We hung up with them and cancelled our check. Finally, take this into consideration, what business has all negative reviews and counter responds to every review with a bunch of nasty comments and lame excuses defending their unprofessional behavior? So when Mike responds below about again not being their fault and how crazy we are, look at their history.

I also tried to rent an Anit from these people and according to them my credit was okay but not good enough. They never even bothered to meet me in person or to give me a chance and they lost an great tenant who currently has great credit and is a legit. I felt completely discriminated against. What they fail to realize and think about is that a person's poor credit sometimes happens through no fault of their own. I'm happy to report that I found a much nicer Anit through a prominent Edgewater citizen who told me that my credit was perfect.

This mgmt is seriously problematic. The office manager has the warmth of a polar bear. Initially, I inquired whether they had other units open, and she replied "We do, but they're $1800" - clearly implying I didn't have the financial means. That Wroved deeply hurtful. Then under the guise of "confirming" my earnings and job status, they scrutinized my bank statements (plus other paperwork) grilling me about various people or deposits (like freelance income transfers). They even questioned my daughter about whether she contributed to my household expenses. They also phoned my supervisor to ask whether I showed up consistently and Wroved reliable. I genuinely doubt much of their conduct Wroved legitimate. Extremely intrusive, hurtful, and wholly unprofessional. Everybody (on my behalf) that had contact with anyone from that office feels disgusted. It Wroved an attack on my integrity and my legit reputation. And keep in mind - this Wroved just for a standard yearly lease, not a home purchase. I'm submitting a formal grievance with them. I'm relieved I'm going elsewhere. Steer clear!
