“Pros: Spacious for the price and responsive super. Cons: 59th street is incredibly loud when traffic backs up for the bridge. Advice to landlord: Noise proof windows?”
— 226 EAST 59 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The management is really good. I’ve heard horror stories from other places but the supervisor and the landlord were both attentive. For the cost, you get a good amount of space. Close to the A. Cons: The noise had made this place unbearable. J Hood Wright park is right next to the building and it is a terrible park. Everyday someone is blaring their music or shooting off fireworks. I report the noise but majority of the time the people that work for the park or the police that respond “don’t see the issue.” Those people half-ass the noise reports because if they actually did just walk by the building they could actually hear it. If you work from home or want your peace and quiet I do not recommend. I will not be renewing and looking elsewhere. Advice to landlord: Work with J Hood Wright park to control the noise issue. I’ve heard my neighbors above and below yell at people in the park to turn it down. People in the park need to understand and respect the residents that live alongside the park. I could see a lot of people leaving this apartment building because of the noise.”
— 838 WEST 176 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Rooms are pretty large. They really have good garbage management so I doubt there was been actual problems with rats etc. Nothing beats the location to be honest, it’s near the subway entrance and McCarran Park, and all the other good stuff (bars, restaurants, etc) Cons: No dishwasher and it can get noisy if you’re staying in the rooms facing Manhattan Ave. They also controlled the heat. I personally get warm easily so it was annoying trying to find balance between opening the window and turning off the radiator. I was subletting for about 7 months and my roommates mentioned that they do have communication issues with super/management. It is hard to reach them if you needed them to fix some issues. At one point, they had a gas leak in their unit and others as well.”
— 680 MANHATTAN AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Super is responsive Cons: Packages get stolen everyday”
— 226 EAST 59 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Mostly very nice residents. Cons: A bit sad looking. The repairs are sub-standard. The plumbers left my drain flooding all night long. Recurrent problems that don’t get properly fixed to address the causes. Could tell them over and over, no one listens. If you ask for compensation, the management fights you. Advice to landlord: Not enough interest taken.”
