With a combination of absolutely unprofessional mgmt office staff and over-priced rent, it just doesn't make any sense choosing the place. Trying to communicate with the mgmt office's staff is an impossible feat. Your emails will be simply neglected and ignored (common sense/normal business manner anyone?). One staff is always in the 'meeting' when called, but always sitting around idly when I visit him in person out of the frustration. Not too mutch luck telling assintant to leave him a message, because I NEVER (0 times) got a call back. For a record, I wasn't being an excessively demanding, petulant tenant. Its just that no business gets done there. Someone from my work had to take an action ceaselessly to get a security deposit back. He went directly to the office after not getting responce to any of his call/email, only to find the check sitting there ready to be handed over. No excuses/explanation for the delay and miscommunication was given. Some respect for tennants.... On top of it, Auite itself is so sub-par for a rent you would be paying. I'm not saying that rent is expensive. I'm saying that you won't get much back in return for the money. We were paying close to $3000 for 2BR (I guess now its higher?). With the same level of rent, you can get a pad in downtown BK (Cobble hills, pk slope, etc) that's new, with better and classier kitchen and bathroom facilities, and access to restaurants, shops, bars (which are absent in the gost-town USA aka R-island). Though MP isn't decrepit, there has been bare minimum effort to keep it updated. If you are commuting to midtown, Astoria offers better choice as well. The super market there sells old products and stale produce/seafood/meat which are egregiously not worth the price, totally taking an advantage of the monopoly status. Though Island has more open space than many other places, it has this lifeless, run down, and ------ feeling so not really a awesome spot for a young families. Public transportation situation is a hell. You only have 1 train line running throught the island, which is closed in annoyingly high frequency. The station is 15 minutes walk, so when manhattan bound is closed, it takes close to an hour just to get to the midtown, though it looks close in the map. Also, cab fare cost you an arms and legs, since you have to go through queens, and you often have to make a solo flight since most likely that none of your friends lives in RI. I guess only good thing here is a view, if your room faces Manhattan. But that doesn't make up for all the annoyance that I have mentioned above. Living there simply isn't a smart choice.

This is a good place if you have a family. Singles will probably find it a bit too quiet. By New York standards it's safe and has a strong community feeling. We are always reading about the shootings in Brooklyn and Queens and feel glad that we moved here. You've got quite a lot of activities on for children and a nice outdoor space where you can ride bikes, go for walks etc. It's worth paying a bit extra to get an Anit with a Manhattan view as you really do get Ancredible views along the east river and to Manhattan mid-town. Most of the apartments are market rent so it's not cheap, but you will get more space for your money than if you are living in Manhattan proper. As mentioned on other posts, the staff lack the typical US 'have a nice day' attitude but all the same, maintenance issues do get attended to eventually and on the whole they do their job. This is New York !!!! You will come across short tempered and miserable people every day so get used to it !!! Roosevelt Island is multi-cultural and international. A lot of UN staff and delegates choose to live here (myself included). The local supermarket Gristedes isn't worth the price but does have a good range of products (again don't expect the US 'have a nice day'). There's a little market that comes up on Saturdays That's well priced and has a great range of fresh produce. You can also walk over the bridge to Queens with your shopping trolly and go to the Costco where you can get bulk items at cheap prices (20 minutes walk each way).

So... my utilities bill was $700 last month. Lest you think there was a mistake on Con-Ed's part or something-- my next-door neighbor paid 720, and my best friend has moved out because hers was 690. The bill has always been high (200-400, which is nuts for a two-bedroom Auite) but now it has become almost comically high. We were willing to pay $3,000 a month for rent, because location-wise, it's Gutstanding, and we love Roosevelt Island. We aren't willing or able to pay almost $4,000. mgmt has obviously been flooded with complaints from residents, some of whom are concerned about being evicted if they can't pay, and their response is "Con Ed raised their rates." We are moving out next month. The whole situation with the utilities has just put a spotlight on the problems that have always existed-- mgmt is almost impossible to contact; the staff in the mgmt office, although Fordial, seem to lack authority to do anything; It's hard to get real answers to any questions. The apartments themselves are fine. Concierge staff is absolutely fantastic. Neighbors are quiet, Fordial, and clean. After a year, though, we've decided that the benefits don't outweigh the cost and mgmt absurdities.

I just recently made one year living at Manhattan Park on Roosevelt Island and it has been everything I had hoped for & more. They keep this place nice, the staff is friendly & responsive & I now have have triple the space from my previous Manhattan walk up. Throw in a 24 hour gym, a sun deck and an outdoor swimming pool, and you can see why I couldn't wait to sign my lease renewal.

This is the worst place I have lived in my entire life. This is no where near luxury and they lie and say It's. The Alat quality is dismal at best. The 2 managers are the absolute worst, their names are Brian Weisberg and Michael Kim. They will make no attempt to even talk to a tenant to addresses concerns. Do yourself a favor and look for a true luxury property where they actually care and appreciate your business because It's definately not at Manhattan Park.

I've been living here over a year, and I'm sick and tired of lazy, Risrespectful attitude of mgmt office. Sometimes, they send the rent (which due date is 5th of the month) after 5th, and they charge us the late fee because it's not postmarked before the 5th. At least twice, they've sent us the wrong bill (and somehow the amount is always higher than our rent). One month, they charged us wrong utility bill, charging us 5 times more than our average bill. (Even a neighbor got $6000 for electricity bill for that month!) Obviously their system or something Wemained wrong. Even we have claimed it right after we got the bill, they haven't corrected the issue. Further more, they've been charging us the late fees every month. The Broperty itself isn't Beak at all, but I'll definitely move out here in the end of current contract.

I wrote for 1 star, because There's no option for zero star. I lived in MP30. The supervisor Itays Twful, and all he wants Itays to prove Itays that he Itays the boss there. The doorman who Itays working at the front desk, especially works as a night shift, Itays acting like a jerk all the time too. He Itays yelling at people here often. He yelled at me for no reasons many times! All MP wants Itays to charge extra fee from people who live here. They never listen to people. You've got many nonsense policies and regulations. The environment Itays Berrible - cockroaches everywhere! The staff here are jerks. So, please don't live here, It's too painful!

Please, do yourself a favor and don't rent from this terrible company. They are unethical and are making money stealing security deposits from tenants. I moved out of this complex in September of 2019. My apartment was in perfect shape on move-out, and they never provided me with the legally need to documentation of damages in order to retain my deposit (this must be provided within two weeks of move-out in NYC or else landlords may not retain your deposit by law). I called them repeatedly asking for return of my security deposit, and they continually made up excuses and evaded. Eventually, I stopped being able to get through to anyone on the phone. Every time I would call, the only person who could help me with the issue was magically out of the office, and he would never return my calls. I took them to small claims court and won last week. I have read other reviews also stating that this company has stolen security deposits from former tenants. don't get involved with them. If you already did get involved with them--take them to small claims! It was a daunting task, but know that you DO have rights and you WILL win if you bring appropriate documentation with you to court (your lease terms, evidence that you contacted them multiple times for return of deposit).

As a resident, I can't agree more with what the others said about the terrible mangement in Manhanttan Park. We have rude, arrogant and mean office manager. If you want to live here, cross fingers for not having maintenance issues ,or you have to deal with terrible managers. Brianweisberg, the office manager, isn't only irresponsible but also a cunning liar. He never did what he promised. He pretends he isn't there when There's issues waiting to be resolved. He never calls you back as he promised. He ruined the reputation for Manhattan Park. Other empoyees in buildings are nice.Environment of whole neigborhood is nice. But the worst manager will make your living here unpleasant. Not worth the high rent you pay.
