It was a terrible experience to live there. The rude and mean staff lied all the time, the dirty surroundings full of bird shits and the neighborhood is very dangerous if you're a female. They try to rob your money. Don't get trapped there. Be cautious.

Beyond awful. Wouldnt recommend this to anyone for four reasons: 1) staff is friendly enough but they will screw you over with BS charges that arent worth fighting in court (talked to TWO other people in the building in my position) 2) location is kinda sketch..I didnt mind it but my female neighbors did NOT like walking through the neighborhood 3) elevator was jank as ----. Im honestly shocked I never once plummeted to my death. Every single visitor I had was terrified to use it. 4) walls = paper thin. Even my ear plugs/noise canceling headphones didnt drown out sound.

I just moved out from this building after two years. It's a great deal for students near Fordham etc. As a law student it was convenient and great to have my own space. The apartments are a little smaller than I would have liked but having the extras helped. They have a gym, and a front desk that takes your packages. The laundry machines in the basement are great so you don't need to drag your stuff all over.

Bugs on Bugs on Bugs. Plan to be bit multiple times. 'Exterminator' uses $2 dollar traps and comes by every week that's how bad it is. I can't wait to be out.

Being a student in the city is ruff. Was having a hard time getting an apt since I am a student and mom&dad live in Texas. This building accepts out of state co-signers which was perfect for me. Close to school and friendly management. My mom is a bit of a nut (but I love her) and she would send packages with baked cookies and stuff. The front desk signs for and holds your packages. Didn't need it but therre is a workout room in the buldings. The place just worked. (Seeing my friends in the city drag from the boroughs or uptown - FAR uptown) made me appreciate it even more. Downsides a few. Only one elevator in the building. TIME WARNER is only choice but FIOS is coming.

I can not wait until my lease is up so I can be gone of this place. I have been living here for almost a year and its really quite embarrasing to say the least. The elevator is ALWAYS on the fritz, and no matter how many times the exterminator comes to spray my apartment there are always roaches and mice present. Yes the apartments are VERY small but I did see it before I signed the lease so that is a non issue. What I do have an issue with is the face that whenever I call the office I am given the run around and the concierge's are quite rude. A little over a month ago I went to pick up a package I had recieved and noticed he was not at his desk. I waited 30 minutes and went back only to notice that was asleep on the sofa in the office. Besides being unprofessional what if it was an emergency. I am going to do my due dillegence before renting another apartment in this because quite frankly this is ridiculous to say the least.

After one year of living in this dump, I am moving out. Besides the buildings being in awful condition, and the elevators being nearly always broken, and the Julliard students packing this complex and practicing all hours of the day/night with no repercussions, 63 West has many sketchy practices that ensures that its owners keep the upper hand in case they want to force out a tenant or sue him/her for a substantial sum. For example, for our apartment, we pay about $2500 per month, but the lease we signed shows that the rental price of the apartment is actually $6600 per month. The reason is that there is a rental rider that they make you sign that reduces the rent if you stay on good terms with 63 West. However, if you read it carefully there is a stipulation that they can go back to $6600 per month at almost any point for nearly whatever reason on a whim. Confused? I was, too, last year. Why do they even bother with the rider in the first place? Well, so that in case you fall behind in paying rent, they can charge you the $6600 per month for all of the months you missed. Instead of being responsible for, say, ten months at $2500 per month($25,000), you are on the line for ten months at $6600 ($66,000) if you lose your job or otherwise can't adhere to the lease. When you sign the lease, the worker will tell you, "Oh, it's not a big deal!" But, really, as you can see from what I've written, it is! Another amazingly sketchy thing they do is add a charge of $100 onto your next month's rent if you pay rent after the 3rd of the month. That's not a big deal, right? Because you pay rent on time anyway. Us too. Well, when you pay the concierge every month, his policy is that he is not allowed to give a receipt for your rent payment. He is not even allowed to sign anything that you create yourself to say that he received it. Therefore, you have absolutely no proof that you paid before the 3rd of the month. And, so, 63 West can charge you the late fee at any time that they choose, even if it is their mistake. If you are late even a month or two, they can also nullify the rider I described above and charge you the full rent going forward ($6600). This is a scary place. I want out. Avoid at all costs.

Myself, my husband, daughter, just moved in last month and we are very happy. The apartment is much more spacious then the last one we lived in. In general the building is pretty quiet, the neighbors are friendly and the staff is great, really nice, friendly and attentive. It's a great neighborhood, close to lots of schools, restaurants, everything you need. I would say that for the price it's an excellent living situation.

I lived in the building for a few years. It's an OK building to be in friendly staff, maintenance is great. I like it here for the location it is close to everything, and that the rent is affordable for me On a negative side the noise is a bit much but its part of city living and just forget about owning a car you will spend way to much time trying to find parking.

The apartment complex is located in a great location. The prices are reasonable considering its so close to everything. The facilities I feel are maintained well and maintenance is helpful. The only downside is the parking. Those of us who use a car in Manhattan have trouble finding a parking space and just drive around waiting for one. I would advise people who are living in Manhattan or NYC to use mass transportation. Besides parking and the city noise its a great place to live.
