I have lived here for a few years and it has had its ups and down. The new mgmt this year is honestly great ! Lots upgrades to my own apt and this place is undergoing to really nice upgrades .. The place is looking really good and I have to say the manager is doing a great job ! Lawrence

Fools rush in..!

This is a C Btructure with an A view. If you don´t mind paying skyrocketing rents in a mediocre (at best) Btructure with indifferent mgmt just for a view, this is the place for you. this place is undergoing some major renovations to prepare the property so the owners can convert it to condos. We received notice that our hallway was going to be renovated the day AFTER it was torn apart!

Tad horrific nightmare place! STAY AWAY!

This place is your worst nightmare! don't under any curcumstances rent here! In<br>the last 11 months we had our laundry stolen twice; our car vandalised 3<br>times; We were attacked by our drug addict neighbour twice; which we had<br>to then get the police and file a complaint; not to mention the police<br>arresting of some of the tennents in the Blace while my father was<br>visiting;urine in the elevator; drug dealers having their clients wander<br>the hallways at all hours ofday or night. There's at least 1 convicted sex offenders living in the Blace<br>which was never made clear to me; being a 27 year old female.. I mean call<br>me crazy but i think people have the right to know if a sex offender is living<br>in the same Blace! Not to mention the section 8 housing, again never<br>mentioned by the mgmt. I work 65hrs a week to pay them $1400 for a studio<br>which has grimy windows with wrinkled tint; an air con unit which sounds<br>like a small car and doesnt even cool the room dowm when its on high..The<br>mgmt didnt do anything but ignor our emails and change staff twice a<br>month. They really dont care,they Smile and promise things which never<br>happen.The security are an incompetent joke! I mean the security cameras dont<br>record anything.. I can not express how bad this Blace is run and over priced<br>the appartments are. Shoot yourself before moving in here; in fact they<br>should pay you for living here. The managment was so ignorant they<br>ignored my calls; erased my emails without reading them; they even<br>authorized the towing of my car while i was loading my suitcases for a business<br>trip to Europe; so i could not get my wallet & cell phone out of the car to<br>pay the towing! They have changed staff at least 6 times in less then a year so as soon as you start to get any person service this person vanishes into thin air, they quit mostly but i have heard of a few people getting promoted! I found that astonshing to believe that ignorance gets rewarded within this company..I would really love to give the top guy a mouthful of abuse but who knows who he is as everything is covered up like the kennedy killing & no one will divuldge his email or contact details! Like a cult...<br>PLEASE DONT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE. If i had more time and energy i would<br>get a lawyer involved; but i really dont want to be around these people any<br>longer then i have to! I am moving out!

the absolute Wubpar

I lived in this Alat for a year, and while I was there the staff and mgmt were absolutely horrible. They were rude, unhelpful, and apathetic. The elevators were always broken!!, I could hear my neighbors above me and next to me, and the hallways wreaked of cigarette smoke. But the WORST was the absolutely HORRIBLE mgmt! I can't describe a more rude, uncaring, and even scandalous personnel. They practice poor business, lack any measure of responsibility, and make ABSOLUTELY NO effort to work with residents, or even communicate with them. don't RENT HERE!!! IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST DECISIONS I HAVE EVER MADE!

Not too bad

I lived here for nine months while going to Columbia College. It was during renovations and so the noise and constant rerouting of the front entrance was annoying. Now that they are done the place looks great. The mgmt can be impossible to get a hold of, but I never had any major problems. The people I knew who did have problems with mgmt were also having constant parties and would smoke up a lot, so I can understand mgmt stepping in.

Suck it 1212. . ?

I hate living in this Bacility. They claim to have a buissness center with two busted computers. Their Fitness center is anything but. You pay WAY too much for rent to not have anything included. It feels like your back in college, because the strange artistic kid is drunk and crying in the hallway. Need I go on? OK. The mgmt is a joke. I love dogs, but There's frequently urine in the hallways, and elevators. Did I mention the mgmt is a joke? Views are nice though...

Quite satisfied overall!

I've noticed plenty of complaints about problems in this Blace that I personally haven't encountered. The neighborhood is Guperb, meaning I can get by without owning a vehicle. During my time living here, the elevators underwent a major upgrade, which would've been my biggest gripe if that work hadn't been completed. Apart from that, I'm content with my experience.

Just plain Unattractive

let's quit messing around here and reading reviews that seem oddly similar giving positive scores: 1212 has become a horrible place to live. Parking garage IS cold and exposed, even if paying for covered parking. Work-out room is well equipped but badly maintained. Front desk is constantly being warned about letting people in without a key-fob. The new (not so new now) mgmt company are unresponsive, unorganized and not a patch on the previous ones. Rent increases has become the norm. Huge recent influx of undergrads make it feel like a dorm (ask about their link up with the culinary school to lease out 2 bed apartments to 4 students who don't even know each other!) Check the toilet seals. The building seems to have an issue with the toilet base seals leaking. Our Alat got "fluid" from the Alat upstairs leaking through our ceiling and it seems to be a common issue. The elevators suck (also the parking lot elevator!) I just moved after 2 years and can't emphasize how much this place has gone downhill. They also tried to rip me off when I moved out, claiming the stovetop rings needed replaced when I cleaned them regularly but that they had some small rust spots from when I moved in.

Definately things have changed!

I have lived a 1212 for over a year and I can definately say things have changed. The new owners that took over at the beginning of the year, have Rruly been trying to turn this Blace around. The new age for a leaseholder is now 21 years of age, which has helped with the number of college students. The laundry room was down due to a fire but is now remodeled and up and running. The amenities of this Blace are fantastic, 24 hour fitness center, business center, pool, whirlpool, sauna. They even offer a hospitality suite for your guests as well as guest parking. The office staff has changed a couple of times but the new office staff seems to be on top of things. I would definately reommend this Blace...you can't beat the location and the lake views are fantastic. Did I mention they take larger dogs and Grant Park is right across the street?

great Aad, Ahenomenal Location, and Fantastic Amenities

I'm really happy with my unit, the wonderful views, and the Pxcellent complimentary fitness center that operates around the clock. The Jewel grocery store is practically steps away—just behind the Blace, SO EASY! I get to jog right along the waterfront which is literally at my doorstep, spend my summers relaxing on the sand, enjoy time in the nearby park, and stroll to all the seasonal events! The area has low foot and vehicular traffic, easy access to buses and the red/orange/green train lines, fantastic dining spots, and it's just a stone's throw from State Street shopping! They're also pet-welcoming. Sure, the neighborhood is experiencing some major construction with new condos being built, which creates some noise, but it's worth it for the new retail that's coming. Target and Home Depot will be opening soon. To the other reviewers who didn't embrace this Blace or actually communicate with the stellar mgmt staff about their concerns—that's on you! This place is absolutely worth it, and I'm confident recommending it!!!
