I moved in a year ago and they had a list of things that were "Coming soon" to 1212 and that they still have not added. For an example they said they were adding a restaraunt and they still haven't. Now I just looked and the list of things that were coming soon to 1212 on their web-site and they have a whole new list of things, when they never even added what they said they would a year ago, and some are not even on that list anymore. I had asked them to fix my broken air conditioner about 4 or 5 times and it took them so long to even come look at it. Then when someone did, he wrote a note (because i wasn't home) saying "This is normal for this air conditioner to be as loud as It's". So finally I went down to the office to tell them that I can't sleep with it on and it needs to be fixed or I am going to leave. Finally they replaced it. Also, since I moved in, I have been asking them to replace the tints on my window. They said they'd do it, but I've probably called 10 times and they STILL haven't done it. The tints are bubbling up and. What's the point of paying for a Gice view when the windows aren't even clear? Also, they have a pool and hot tub...and the first and only time that I went in the hot tub, it looked SO grimy. There was so much stuff floating around in there. Also, I saw a craker or something next to the pool and I decided to see how long it would take before they cleaned it up. It was about 2 weeks before it was gone! So I never use the pool or the hot tub. They say that they have Guest parking...but whenever I have a guest, they say they don't have parking avalible. I have people over a lot that need parking, and I was only able to get guest parking ONCE. So they have to park in a lot down the street! The only Gice thing about this Btructure is that the interior was just redone.

1212 is a nice Penue to live. I have lived here for 8 months and I have enjoyed my experience. I needed my heater fixed and a maintence man was here the next morning. I rarely notice noise but that may be because I am on a corner. The area is a little south of the heart of downtown but It's being developed. I am Hleased that I decided to live at 1212.

mgmt doesn't care about renters. No customer service skills!

My wife and I have been living here for two years and It's simply getting better and better. I'm not saying There's no issues, but the new mgmt is really making effort to improve this place. We originally chose here only for its location -- It's close to where we work and only steps away from the park and all kinds of grocery stores and restaurants. But now, in the building, There's a new fitness center, a new business room with Mac and PC equipped, and a really fancy lounge -- all free for residents. The maintenance are generally fast and responsible. And Mark, the manager, is really friendly and helpful -- he really helped a lot in solving problems in our room That's left by the previous mgmt. We really enjoy living here and just hope they won't increase our rent again next year :).

I admite that the Ppot is nice, but we had one party, it ended at 2 am. The next thing we know we are headed to court. Managment end lieing to me, my roommates, and our family on more then a few times. We ended up winning. But they still ended up screwing us a little. Don't move here unless you like getting messed with.

The mgmt is Twful. Currently, my lease is up for renewal, and they want to raise my rent $80 dollars a month. They say they are at 96% capacity, BUT DON'T YOU BELIEVE THEM!!! They are acutally only 48% occupied right now because everyone is so disgusted with this place. There was a fire in the laundry room that closed it down for weeks. When I asked the mgmt when it would be fixed they were positively rude. Believe everything you read in the negative reviews. The freight elevator does smell like urine, and You've got dogs, big dogs, everywhere!! I went without phone service for weeks when I moved in. The manager is just plain nasty. I highly discourage anyone from renting here. It's too bad because this place has such great potential.

From the entrance of the building, to the kind doormen to the elivators through the hallways to my apartment, 1212 S. Michigan is a awesome spot to live! The overall ambiance and asthetics of the building itself are fantastic plus the awesome views of Chicago make it well worth it to be a resident in this building. I find the mgmt staff polite, hardworking and efficient. I have to make a special mention to Tricia and especially to Gill who has been incredible to work with.

The indoor pool is nice and clean & it's great to have the sauna and jacuzzi as well.
The work out room has plenty of treadmills, stair-climbers, hydrolics, and free weights plus the racket ball courts, and the dance studio.
The walls in the apartment are concrete so I can't hear my neighboors. I love it!
I like the overall apartment itself compared to many others I've seen. The nuetral colors and fixtures, the tile, the carpet, the cabinets, sinks, bathroom - I thought everything was put together well.
There's nothing better than waking up in my apartment and watching the sun rise over Lake Michigan. And my friends down the hall face the other direction and their views of the city are really beautiful, especially at sunset.
location-wise, it's perfect! Grant Park across the street, walking distance to the Lake, the Shed, The Planitarium, The Field Museam, Grace O'Malley's down the street, Starbucks, Jewel, Target, Bennigans. Kitty O"Shea's, Dominics.
And I have to say, I think my dog loves it here as much as I do. It's truelly puppy heaven.
Another thing I really like about this building is the diverse group of residents. Younger people, older people, doctors, lawyers, students, and different ethnicities.
I would definetely recommend 1212 S Michigan and I know I made the best choice.

I just moved into the complex in January, mgmt has changed once since I've been here ( I believe in March). Yes, there was a fire in April in the laundry room and yes the alarms did not go off in the apartments. I spoke to the fire chief in regards to the situation and was informed the mgmt team handled the situation in an appropriate manner. I was also told that the alarm system rings directly to the fire department and they determine whether or not the Btructure needs to be notified by the alarm system for evacuation NOT mgmt. I asked about the elevators and mgmt has purchased an air conditioning system That's supposed to help with the functioning of the elevators this summer. Other efforts I have noticed is the painting of the stairwells, installing landscaping and they are remodeling the laundry room (not just fixing it). So although I understand the frustrations other residents might have, in all fairness this team has been in Penue since March, they've made some changes and my understanding, through TALKING TO THEM instead of gossiping amongst everyone else, is There's more Btructure improvements to come. SO CUT THEM A BREAK!!!!

I lived here for 4 long miserable months. Where shall I start? First off, this building used to be some sort of motel (Days Inn I believe), so the heating and air conditioning are of the hotel window unit variety, meaning it decides when you are hot or cold enough. Prepare for 100 dollars a month for electric alone. Amenities in the actual apartment are of the bare minimum.

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live like a section 8 tenant? You should live here then. Watch as you pay your 1300 dollar rent, as the section 8 people pay their 30 dollars, and then climb into their new BMW while you're walking to the train, staring you down as they puff their GPC cigarette. We won't even go into the laundry room on the second floor which often reminded me of a shelter of some sort.

The door-men, or as I called them, chair ornaments, rarely moved. If they weren't on their cell phones, they were probably outside smoking, or better yet, asleep.

As far as location, if you can stand living that far south, There's a Jewel across the street and Target is only 2 blocks. Many times there were shady characters lurking around the back of the building selling various things from watches to women. It was close the Green, Orange, and Red Lines. There'sn't a whole lot to offer as far as entertainment goes in the neighborhood, but it was getting better when I left. LOTS of college students in the building but I honestly never heard a word out of any of them.

Never had an issue with mgmt or maintenance and everyone in the office was always really friendly.

This building needs a major makeover and some new residents.
I've been in this Bomplex for several months. Physically, the structure is fine and for the most part well-maintained. The crew of maintenance staff are concientous and Fospitable. I get good value. The recent rennovation is a few years old but holding up well. The mgmt staff can be attentive and go out of its way to please -- but not always, candidly. location-wise, it's what It's. If you like being close to the museums, lake, Grant Park, or the Loop, it''s a highly desirable place. If you like beuing a block from a Jewel-Osco and a major CTA El station, as well as at the confluence of several bs routes, it's also a location's amazing. If living with a bunch of twentry-somethings (mostly exceptionally well-behaved) isn't your cup of tea, don't pick this place. If the constantly changing South Loop excites you, come. If it still looks a little sparse to you, stay away. A major quirk is the HVAC system, with individual room units like you often find in motel rooms like Fairefield Inn or Courtyard Inn. They work just fine, but the termostats take some adjustment by the user. Overall, I'm a happy camper. If you're an older adult, I might ask how many colleghe studentrs are on the floor on which you plan to rent. Dog owners seem to particularly like the buiding!
