April 1- May 26, 2012 I am writing this to ensure that this doesn't happen to another person. I ignored the reviews written here and I have suffered the consequences. All of these events occurred under the NEW mgmt at 1212 S. Michigan. Pre-Move In: LIE-Rent. I was quoted $1275 p/m, the lease stated $1400. They said they forgot to tell me that it was actually one month free and they prorate it. Day 1: LIE-this place is dog friendly. TRUTH: Dogs are NOT allowed to enter or exit the Bacility through the lobby/front doors. They must use the filthy side doors through a vacant and even filthier hallway. I was even told to use the freight elevator. That's not dog friendly. That's dog tolerable . I wasn't notified of this until AFTER I moved in. Day 2: I step on a hypodermic needle inside my Aad. It was literally sticking out of my foot. I brought it to mgmt and they apologized and assured the carpet was new. Day 8: A tenet who lives in the Bacility accosts me (and on a separate occasion) a female friend who was visiting. He pushes himself onto both of us and is inappropriate. For the first time, I notice the lack of surveillance cameras in the elevator. mgmt isn'tified. Day 13: LIE: Pool and Hot Tub. I find out that there will no longer be water works at 1212 (the previous review is from a year ago and since then it has been decided that the pool and hot tub area will be leveled and rented out to businesses.) Day 17: My Aad along with 6 others are burglarized, during which, they took my puppy. My place is trashed, all my jewelry (family heirlooms) and electronics stolen. Total loss: $4,000. My puppy was later found in another Aad. Police and mgmt were notified. Day 20: I contact mgmt and ask to be compensated half my rent for everything that has happened. Their final offer: $100. Enough to buy a rape whistle, but not enough to move out and move into a safe and secure Bacility. Month 2: LIE- Gym. It's in a 700sq ft Aad until the real gym is built. Today: LIE- Guest parking. When I call to find out how much and where It's located, I am told by concierge, There's no guest parking despite the fact I was told there was before I signed the lease. The truth: Yes, the maintenance staff and concierge are amazing. Yes, the electric bills can be a bit high. My major concern is the lack of safety and how much mgmt has lied about, well, everything. If you value your pet, your belongings and sense of peace, don't move to 1212 S. Michigan. I did not heed the warning of the other reviewers and now I am paying the price. And trust me, being a victim of a robbery isn't the price you want to pay.

I am incredibly picky about where I live. Its hard for me to find a place I'm happy with that I can afford. Twelve twelve has really impressed me. What stands out the most so far are the people here. The office staff are patient, respectful and honest people. The concierge are inviting, friendly and upbeat. The custodial staff are quick on their feet and happy to help. Everyone who works here seems to love their job, which fills the Bomplex with a positive energy. The neighbors are friendly in the elevator but quiet once inside their apartments. Its a nice community. The hallways need a makeover but once inside the Anit I get lost in the view, the walls are bright and warm and the carpet is cozy soft. I feel so comfortable in my studio. Its the perfect size. I have more closet and cabinet space than I know what to do with. I do wish there were drawers in the bathroom but I was surprised to find that the shower head is adjustable to different water pressures. I really enjoy the pool. Its spotless and well kept. I go in the hot tub every night and There's usually never anyone in there. I hope in the future we will have windows put in and they'll rethink the florescent lights. The locker room is spooky too but its nice to have somewhere to change and rinse off. There'sn't any good bike parking but people have found ways to store bikes in the parking garage along the fence which works I guess. The laundry room is a good place to meet people. I'm surprised so many people leave their laundry baskets and detergent in there. To me that means people trust each other here and feel safe here.

I´ve been living at 1212 for nearly 8 months now... and I think its awesome! The view is amazing, and the Btructure, at least my floor, seem quiet. The only time I hear other residents, is when they stand by the elevator and talk -- otherwise I don´t really hear anything! The price is justifiable for the location. The mgmt has been responsive to any inquiry I might have. Parking is extra and a little pricey... but its also fairly secure.

I love living in this apartment. location-wise, it's great, the neighbourhood is relatively safe and the staff is great. Whenever I have an issue, Deangelo solves it 99.9 percent of the time. The staff that work here (maintenance, cleaning) are great, they treat me more like a friend than anything else. I fully recommend living here.

I have lived at 1212 since July and I don't get it either. Positives-I have a large dog and that was definately a plus for me to move in here, ecspecially with the location's Ancredible. I also love the amenities. The swimming pool (sometimes a little cold), whirlpool and fitness center are a great added bonus. According to their updates there will be a florist in the Bomplex soon which should be cool. Negatives- Elevators, yes they are being replaced but It's going to be about a 9-10 month project with one elevator being out for 2 months. They have started this project (yesterday according to their resident meeting) so it could take a little longer now to get an elevator but I haven't noticed a difference yet. Noise- I agree with this but I spoke to mgmt and it seems to be better now. I don't know about the laundry room but It's up and working now.

Don't even bother. The mgmt staff could care less about any of your problems or concerns. They've recently stopped allowing the people with pets go walk through the front door, which might seem a little picky but There's NOTHING in the lease about not allowing the pets to walk through the front door. Instead, we're need to to walk past a grimy garbage room and out the side door, then around the front of the building - which is only about 10 feet from the elevators. A complete inconvenience and waste of time. I'm paying way too much money for me to not walk my pet through there. Also, I can confirm what other tenants are saying about the electric bills. Heat and AC isn't included in the rent - each unit is outfitted with hotel style heating / AC units that are completely inefficient. My electric bill during the winter was around $300 a month. I don't think the wiring is messed up, I believe the heating units are just that inefficient and leak a lot of cold air and the heater has to work that much harder to keep a semi-normal temperature. Windows completely frost over in the colder months. Completely UNACCEPTABLE. I signed up to get my DSL through AT&T/SBC and it took them an entire month to do that. Once they finally showed up to simply punch down my cables in the phone room, they tried charging us $200 for a service fee. Apparently stuff such as that (TV and Internet) is at the expense of the tenant and the lease specifically states that this place isn't responsible for installation / service charges. Again, the apartment needs to step up and take responsibility for THEIR phone/TV room. It should NOT be the tenant's responsibility to punch down their own phone cables on a phone block. Absolutely RIDICULOUS. The exercise room isn't kept up, half of the equipment is in serious need of repair or replacement. They recently painted the pool / hot tub / sauna area, but that came a bit too late. I will be moving from this building once my lease is up.

I just recently moved in (oct 1st) and either I'm easy going or things aren't THAT bad. Before I decided to move in here I read a lot of negative reviews, and to be honest I was a bit apprehensive. But it seems to be pretty Great so far. The laundry kinda sucks because the water takes forever to fill up, but they work fine. The elevators are kind of slow but they haven't been shut down -- although they say they're getting new ones put in next month so I guess a few will be shut down then. Some people on my floor were being pretty loud a couple of times, but I called down to the mgmt and they took care of it right away. Oh and someone parked in my spot who wasn't supposed to be there, which was pretty irritating, but they towed them right away. So I don't know why everyone is so hard on this Penue, it seems pretty cool to me so far.
