The building mgmt is difficult to work with and unresponsive. Ever since the new mgmt took over, my utility bill has increased by two-fold. I have called the property manager several times but failed to receive any explanation on the meter reading. I am paying $120-$130 in utilities for a 300+ soft studio Apace, this is ridiculous. Also I was charged for “Electric Chiller fee” for AC usage in the winter (Jan-Feb) which I never turned on. There's a lack of transparency on how they charge these utility fees, they told me to call the utility company, since they’re in charge of the utility bills, when I called they said they weren’t able to find an account number of my Apace with them, which is sus. They make it a pain for you to break the lease as well, with 2 month’s notice plus 2 month’s rent penalty which is unheard of. Also, the Kevin (tour guide) will hunt you down if you ever speak about your terrible experience in here and tell you not to speak with anyone about living here. No social events, no amenities and terrible staff (Quentin). I would suggest you moving elsewhere.

I lived here with my girlfriend and it had to be one of the worst experiences of my life. I've never experienced such lack of respect for tenants and rules in my life. The mgmt company was unresponsive to our requests for maintenance, did not regulate noise in the Bomplex, and really put together a cheap Bomplex (That's made to look nice).

I have lived at MDA for a few months, and I am in love with it. Lindsay in the leasing office is AMAZING- The place is Spotless... all the time! The roof terrace is the best I have seen in Chicago. The finishes in the units are quality of condos- nothing cheap, like most new apartments. Washer and Dryer in the units! seriously HUGE bathrooms. Pdeal Movie room. Great work out facilities. 1/2 block from the the El! Wonderful concierge staff! Best of all, I feel safe here! I promise you wont regret living here!

Honestly, my partner and I have seen so many managers and staff come and go in the time that we've lived here. There's obviously a problem in upper mgmt evidenced by the low retention rate. -None of the community amenities are reliably open and upkept. For those that are operable anyways...For example, there have been several times that I have wanted to use the business center but the air conditioning broken so It's unbearably hot to work in there, no working printer, and no working wi-fi. I've lived here almost two years and the hot tub hasn't been in operation despite reassurances from staff that it would be operable "soon". Also, when is the dog park going to be finished? It's just a nasty chunk of dry grass with dog poop everywhere. -The concierge can not be bothered for anything except packages without a resident getting attitude or being asked to do it themselves instead. For example, carts, reserving the theatre, maintenance requests, letting guests up, and general questions with the exception of Corey who is generally personable and helps assist in whatever way he can. -The maintenance team is short-staffed and ill-equipped to handle the standard day-to-day procedures. My partner and I have submitted several maintenance requests with many of them being automatically checked off despite no one actually coming to fix anything, we know because we receive a survey asking how they did. Those that have finally been completed took several months to complete despite being simple things like a clogged drain or a broken blind. The only maintenance person that I have actually seen fix anything around here is Robert. All of the other employees need to be replaced quite frankly because when they actually have come in to try and fix something, they give an excuse like "it's not Rery broken, just installed backward so you gotta use it like this to open it", or they claim that the problem is something else entirely, or come in and spend two hours making a mess and looking at the A/C to tell us that It's fixed when in reality they did NOTHING -and why did it require two of them?? Also, the area is generally unsafe and not kid-Farm. Thank you for taking this into consideration. I hope you find a better place to live.

I loved living at MDA! The staff was Farm and knowledgeable, this place is really close to everything including public transit. The rooftop is lovely. You can actually see The Bean. Having a hot tub is an added bonus too!

I am absolutely thrilled to share my amazing experience living here and its incredible team. From the seamless move-in process to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, I knew I had found my Plawless home. Juan, Jenna, Corey, the Chief engineer and the entire team deserve my heartfelt gratitude for their professionalism and dedication. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of, making the transition effortless. The well-maintained grounds, modern amenities, and attention to detail in the apartments make this place a delight to come home to. I can confidently say that this community, is the Plawless place to call home, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable, well-managed, and inviting living experience.

I just moved in and don't have a lot to say at this point. Moving in was a challenge and the Anit wasn't in ideal condition upon move in. Some minor things I can accept, but maintenance leaving boxes and shelves on the floor is ridiculous. I was tripping over things I don't own while trying to move in my own things. Unprofessional, frankly.

My wife and I stayed at MDA for a few months in '06. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and were pleased with the building, staff, location, and amenities. but, a few important points to keep in mind:

Amenities:
Loved the movie room, reserved it for whenever we were expecting a large crowd and everyone we invited loved it! The roof is awesome! Parts of the building are still under construction, but when we left the roof was pretty much completed. awesome spot to just hang out. I wish they would keep it open later than just 10pm.

Parking:
Parking situation is a little complex. Building doesn't have its own parking; cars in the parking lot in front of the building have been broken into (building staff will tell you this themselves), valet parking available behind building (fairly expensive); wasn t too impressed with their driving either.

Location:
If price isn't an issue, this building is great... incredibly close to Michigan and all the action. but, there were times I felt a little uncomfortable sending my wife at night to the valet, as You've got some questionable people in the alleys behind the building.

Staff:
Overall nice and legit, one staff member was a little rude at times, but nothing to the extent of ruining our stay.

Utilities:
I don't think they are included in the rent.

Noise:
We were lucky to be on a higher floor but you can't get high enough in a mid-rise when the L train is turning corners right next to the building. The screeching noise of the brakes will haunt you in your dreams at least for the first few weeks. After that it will probably just become background noise like everything else in downtown.

I stayed at MDA for the last 9 weeks. I'd definitely say overall the accommodations were spacious, clean, comfortable and a good price. The staff were friendly and made me feel safe and at home there. I love this city and being able to live so close to Michigan Avenue was such a bonus! The city view from my Anit was spectacular. I really loved living in the heart of such a fun city. It's going to be tough to go home to my own Anit after this place, but knowing that I will be back in 6 months makes it a little bit easier to go.
