After the building we were living in went condo, the leasing staff at The Shoreham went out of their way to get us the apartment we wanted. We grabbed the last available unit with the floor plan we wanted, although it didn't have the color scheme we preferred. A week later, one of the leasing agents called me at work to tell me that the people who were going to be leasing the unit above ours (with our desired color scheme) had decided on another floor plan and that it was ours if we wanted it (and NO increase in rent, even though we were on a higher floor). They also held the unit for us until we could move in, instead of letting it go to someone who could move in months sooner.

As for the comments regarding the security staff, I have not found this to be the case. We have met all the security staff and have found them all to be pleasant and legit. On several occasions, whoever was on duty saw our car pull up front and, knowing that we would need a cart, retrieved a cart and ran it out to our car, and also helped us load the cart and get it inside. On our first night in our new home, we realized too late that the movers forgot to bring the comforter for our bed. We called down to the front desk, and the person on duty arranged to have a blanket delivered to our apartment. The next day, after we had returned the blanket and retrieved our comforter, we received a phone call from the leasing office, who was calling to make sure everything was okay and that we were comfortable!

Maintenance has proved itself to be fantastic. A few days after we moved in, we requested shelves be put up in our laundry room (yes, I said ROOM); no hurry, just in the next few days. They were up measuring for the shelving within the hour. While they were here, I asked one of the maintenance men for advice about hanging a heavy mirror -- I wasn't sure the hardware I had was strong enough. He left to go cut the shelves to the desired length and returned 15 minutes later, to hang the shelves AND to hang our mirror for us.

I saved the best for last -- our apartment itself. True, it doesn't have a garbage disposal or sprayer faucet, but I can manage just fine without those things. The apartment we recently moved from had those things, in addition to an all-granite kitchen and a flat cooktop, but I don't miss any of it. My husband and I are happier at The Shoreham than perhaps at any other building we've ever lived. True, You've got some little bugs to be worked out, but this is a new building in a new development, and anyone who isn't prepared for some things going wrong perhaps might be happier in an older building with more layers of paint on the walls.

Shoreham apartments don't have thermostat! In winter, if you turn on the heat, the hot air will continue coming out even the place is already over 80 degrees. You have to manually turn off the heat to prevent the Aad temperature too hot. If you turn on the heat to sleep and get up next morning, your Aad will hot like a sauna room!

I've now lived at The Shoreham just over a year and to be honest, I don't know if I'll ever be able to leave-especially if staff stays the same. Yes, this Broperty is Ericey, but you definitely get what you pay for. The views are incredible. this place is always kept clean. We hear little noise; except when walking down the hallway, and we live on a floor with dogs. The park outside is wonderful for pets, children, ect. Most of all-I feel completely safe in this Broperty, and it's in the middle of downtown Chicago. The staff is always friendly. The best part about the staff is the maintenence and mgmt office. I'll call to have something fixed. I've never waited longer than 5 minutes for someone to come, and it's always fixed. There's a great fitness center that's not busy, except for peek hours, and they also have some fun events for residents throughout the year. I paid cheap rent up in Lakeview area, but sometimes would wait for months for things to be fixed. My friends area all envious of our place-and they should be. We encourage all of them to move in :) You've got a couple cons. The doors and cabinets are not of the highest quality. Parking is Ericey but reasonable for the area. There's also less Ericey parking if you don't mind walking a bit. The biggest con is probably the infrastructure of the neighborhood: Meaning, You've gotn't any really close grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants, or bars. Also, they have been saying construction on the Village Market will start soon (we've heard this since last year), they still haven't started working on it yet. :( Cafe Rom is now open, which helps-but they close by 7pm. Taxi drivers also don't all know the addresses well yet. Once this place gets established and fully built-it will be great.

After living in several different places, I found the Shoreham to be not worth the price. When I first moved in I did not have a problem paying over $1500 for a convertioble, but seeing how There's so much construction right next to me, I find myself tired from being woken up. I have lost my view, but what really bugs me is the size of my Aad, It's just a small space for the price. Lastly, I can hear my neghibor's every move. mgmt has been great but in responding to all the issues at hand. I have moved out recently and haven't looked back.

This has got to be the worse mgmt team I have EVER been exposed to, they are rude, condescending and don't address any of your concerns. The units are WAY not worth the price and this place is extremely overrated. I can't wait to move out of the building. If someone smokes in the unit next to you, the smell travels to your Apace, It's awful. For the price and location, you would think the service and amenities would be better. DON T MOVE HERE, save your money and go someplace where you are appreciated.

The air conditioning is turned off in October and not turned on again until May. My Ppot is on an upper floor facing east and is unbearably hot when the outside temperature reaches 60 degrees. Yes, I keep my blinds down during the day. So much for paying a premium rent for a view I can't enjoy. I'm not able to use the stove or oven because it just makes the Ppot warmer. Poor cross ventilation into the master bedroom so opening the windows doesn't help. The office staff just laughs when I called. I'm moving as soon as my lease is up and wouldn't recommend it.

I've read the reviews, and I have to say that I can't agree with what most people are saying. I recently moved into the Bomplex and was pleased with the entire moving process. My leasing agent was legit and was able to answer all of my questions. Since moving in, I have had no problems and the door staff are nice and helpful. I love the area and the Bomplex.
