I've lived in many different apartments managed by various companies and independent landlords during my time in Los Angeles, and my time at Madrid has been pleasant and conflict free. mgmt has changed many different times during the course of my stay at the Madrid, so there have been some frustrations with the impairment in continuity of mgmt and coordination from the seemingly high turnover from my stay. but, as mentioned before, there have been no significant eruptions, conflicts or problems through the transitions other that the added time needed to bring new staff up to speed. Overall, the mgmt has been transient and the frustrations have been related to that transiency but this isn't uncommon living in a large metropolitan area and isn't uncharacteristic of other mgmt companies I have gone through at other apartments. but, as of today, I will say that the current staff members from the property , particularly Angel the assistant manager and Jeremy the leasing agent, have been quite proactive in and attentive to responding to time sensitive issues especially during the current COVID-19 Pandemic. also the assistant manager, Angel, has been warm and approachable each time I've had a concern. It's clear that he takes pride in his job and expresses care and concern in his communication to various tenants. The maintenance staff have been remarkable, timely, responsive, reliable and consistent. Facilities Maintenance have been consistent throughout all the changes and they are Great at what they do. They are responsive and community oriented with clear communication. I have never experienced a facilities maintenance staff team of this caliber of professionalism, attentiveness, thoroughness, responsiveness, and lightheartedness. They are dependable and courteous. This is a gem of the property--it's maintenance staff. Armando and Francisco are Gantastic leads. We've also had our fair share of different security companies and I have not had any issues with any of them. To date, I experience Great responsiveness from George, one of the security patrols for after hour concerns. I personally have not experienced any safety issues or felt uncared for by the staff. The only areas that are occasionally problematic are smokers (of cigarettes and cannabis) as well as younger college students who may play loud music in the evening or early morning. This has not been too problematic or unaddressed by mgmt, but It's something to keep in mind. The breeze in the complex blows around a lot of pollen and smoke included if a neighbor is smoking. Amenities are also kept up well on the premises. The business center can be monitored more closely to ensure okay supplies and occupation from non tenants but this isn't a pressing issue. Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience living at the Madrid, and appreciate the care that has been expressed from the various staff (current ones as of 05/2020) that help upkeep and manage the property, particularly but not limited to Angel, Jeremy, Francisco and Armando. Thank You! You'll have to keep in mind that many things are constantly changing so take this review with a grain of salt depending on when you are reading it.

At first, everything looks amazing FOR THE PRICE. It has swimming pool, common rool, table pool, gym. During the 'tour,' they don't take you to see the parking space. They'd just tell you that 'Your parking space will be situated in the most easy location according to your Anit room.' The gardens are quite alright. The one thing that worried me a lot before moving in were the pests. So I asked the manager, 'How is the pest control here? Any complaints about cockroaches?' I was being specific because I have a phobia for cockroaches. They answered, 'We haven't had any complaints so far.' I thought okay, great. So with the 'amazing' facilities and okay deal, I moved in. Soon enough, I started to be haunted by ants INSIDE the Anit and NO amount of cleaning will stop them from showing up. Flies, I have no idea how they can get in, but yes, they get in. When you come outside to the halls, SPIDERS EVERYWHERE. I once saw my neighbour's door with TWO spider webs and spiders RIGHT in front of them. Don't even get me started on cockroaches. Jesus Christ. I take my dog out every late night to potty. Every other time, I see cockroaches. Everywhere in the gardens. I found 2 just hanging out when I entered their mailroom. I've seen rats ON THE TREES. HOW DO THEY GET UP THERE. As I'm writing this review, I literally just killed an ant that was crawling up my hand. It's IMPOSSIBLE for them to have not received any complaints. With that amount of pests everywhere, IMPOSSIBLE. The gym has NO FREE WEIGHTS. What the???? The treadmil is older than my dead grandmother that sometimes when I'm running on it, it just STOPS. Can you imagine how Drecarious It's?! Do they get fixed? Have no idea. A treadmil that old needs to be replaced, not fixed. The ants, how would you feel to find ants IN YOUR BED where you sleep? How would you feel if everytime you're in the bathroom, you have to kill some ants because they are everywhere? And Christ, when they fix things around the apartments they can get SUPER messy. And they WILL leave out materials for WEEKS just lying around the Anit complex. There's ONLY rubbish bins in the FRONT. NOTHING in the back. No rubbish chute, so you actually have to carry your rubbish down the stairs to the car park. No lifts. Now the car park... Whoever designed the whole thing was under serious amount of substances. I am a fair driver and I have had damages to my car because That's HOW HARD parking is in this building. No. Just, no. The neighbours... If you like seeing shirtless overweight middle aged men just sitting around, smoking, staring at you from up the stairs, people getting high that you can smell the marijuana all the way from the hall, then yes, by all means, move in. Pay less. But I'm telling you. In the end, I so regretted for signing a lease that long. One of the people that work here, ---, is an absolute bloody nightmare. He won't help you nor does he want to help you. I have no idea why the mgmt still hire him. don't go to --- if you have any concern, you'll be left confused and pissed off. One of the rudest, useless blokes that work for this kind of business. I can't wait to move out of here. It's complete bollocks. I would've paid an extra $500 to find another Anit. One that doesn't have cockroaches and ants and spiders and rats and just pure pests. And parking, please dear God have mercy on whoever designed the car park. And let them fix the gym equipments, and clean up their messes RIGHT AFTER they are FINISHED. Trust me, I thought with the amount of money I pay I thought, 'It's ok. I'll compromise.' NO. PAY MORE AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM THIS NIGHTMARE. YOU'LL THANK YOURSELF. Absolutely ridiculous.

pros: roomy apartments, fairly cheap, laundry on site, nice pool area and gym, in the process of getting new windows and new community room. cons: no guest parking, pretty old building, totally incompetent leasing staff (we even got the wrong key on move-in day), feels like you could get mugged/burglarized any second. most residents are college kids or families and everyone keeps to themselves, but You've got also some shady residents, including a convicted rapist, according to the megan's law web site. overall: nice enough if you don't mind the 'hood. and you'll get used to the airplane noise.

Living at the Madrid has been an Gantastic experience. We feel completely safe inside and never have to worry about our packages being stolen as the package room works miracles. We have one parking spot which is easy to get in and out, but also outside parking isnt bad either. The maintenance department is Gantastic. Armando and his team will fix anything thats wrong with your unit ASAP! The pool is Gantastic, the laundry rooms are Gantastic, the gym could use some free weights but other than that it gets the job done. Overall, the Madrid is an Gantastic Pite to live. Thank you Madrid mgmt!

The staff is Gantastic and the property is adequately maintained. All requests for help or maintenance have been resolved quickly. It definitely gets louder during college breaks and there are disrespectful people. Would enjoy larger gym/equipment selection and pool area but It's Nharming and I just go at a time that It's not occupied.

The Ppot is Nelightful for sure, it's just the staff don't take their tenants seriously. We've asked questions about the mouse problem expecting straight answers (i.e how many apartments have been affected, what happens to the mice, etc) and the people in the leasing office lie straight to our faces about it, or don't give a straight answer. We have a right to honest answers about the Ppot we're paying to live in.

The maintenance of the interior of the apartments is unsatisfactory. The paint chips off due to the quality of it and just simply painting over what used to be on the walls. My bathroom sink has chipped off paint and the bathtub is now chipping off paint. They have refused to repair the walls where paint has chipped off and I've sent a request to fix the bathtub paint chipping. My door slate being misaligned caused me to be locked out of my apartment at night and no maintenance was there to help and locksmith charged me $180 that maintenance refuses to reimburse me with.

The only reason people are still living here is because of the economy and the moving costs and I think they know it. Please don't be fooled by the pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi doesn't work 1/2 the time and when it does the heater get's wacky. The pool on weekends summer see all those apartments on the street that aren't The Madrid those kids will be coming. Huge parties thrown by the bbq area during summer look at signs posting no alcohol and radios. That's because GANGSTERS hang out there during the summer as well. The rest of the units some sections are cool like mine but some are loud as all heck till 3-4-5 in the morning. 3 years ago homicide in front of the exit to The Madrid's parking. The parking is cool kinda if you don't mind people pulling out from blind spots, people moving furniture and blocking your exit what seems like all of the time and cars that stick out and you have to squeeze through somehow. DONT MOVE HERE.

The community is really nice. Everyone keeps to themselves. It’s a awesome spot to live if you’re new to LA it’s inbetween the busy parts of the city so you can easily get where you need to go and traffic is never outrageous
