I've been residing here for just over a year and it's been an amazing experience throughout. The atmosphere truly reminds me of staying at an upscale hotel. All the units feature brand new appliances. If you ever find yourself locked out, the mgmt team will let you back into your unit without hesitation. Complimentary apples, snacks, and water are always available. These are thoughtful touches that make a real difference. The entire mgmt and staff team consists of genuinely wonderful, approachable individuals who are always a pleasure to interact with. The loft-style living here is distinctive, stylish, and incredibly enjoyable. Amenities include a pool, ping-pong table, chess, regular community gatherings, fitness center, and more. Overall, it's been one of my best residential experiences. You'll meet some genuinely interesting residents here. The only minor downsides are occasional noise levels and a handful of residents I've observed who treat mgmt and staff disrespectfully, apparently believing their financial position entitles them to do so. That's regrettable, though it's something you'll find anywhere. The location appeals to me, and I appreciate that it's an intimate, smaller loft community. I'm happy with my choice to live here.

I've been a resident at R2 Lofts for 7 months and it's genuinely the finest place I've lived. Marina Del Rey is fantastic and this building offers incredible accessibility! Everything I need is nearby—my fitness center is just steps away and You've got tons of shopping and grocery stores right around the neighborhood. The team here is amazing! They're consistently courteous, welcoming, quick to respond, and really empathetic. The apartments themselves are perfect! With such a wide variety of layouts available, each residence has its own unique character. It's an great community to connect with neighbors and establish as my home.

My husband and I got married 6 months ago and moved into R2. This is our first place together and we've made some great memories here. Our loft is gorgeous and unique. There really isn'thing else like it around the neighborhood. So far we have had only great experience with mgmt. You can tell they work hard. Though I do wish the common area was open after 10pm, I am so happy with all of the ammenities and resident services this place offers. The free fitness trainer & yoga is a definite plus. Sadly this website is only used by people who like to moan and complain, either because they are just unhappy individuals or because they don't like certain rules mgmt enforces to keep this place running right. My man and I love it here and definately reccommend to others. (And no this isn't written by mgmt.)

I went through numerous reviews for this R2 unit before moving in, and a lot of them were quite critical. Initially, I had concerns about the building based on the negative feedback, but I've actually been really impressed. My unit is situated on the fourth floor with two bedrooms, and the scenery is breathtaking. The layout feels open and has a contemporary design. The noise levels are minimal—it's remarkably peaceful. My sole grievance would be that I'd love to see the fitness center expanded with additional machines, plus a heated swimming pool would be nice. Beyond those minor wishes, everything else is wonderful :)

I signed my lease in August 2013 and moved into a studio unit. While I was concerned about the limited square footage, the space turned out to be ideal for my needs. The leasing process was smooth and the property mgmt treated me with great care. The community here has a genuine neighborhood atmosphere with considerate and friendly residents. Noise levels are minimal, which is perfect since I regularly keep my windows unlocked. The apartments are spotless and solidly constructed, plus there's a security officer on weekends who helps maintain quiet hours—a really nice touch. My only complaint is street parking, though I've never had trouble finding a spot. Pavilions and nearby supermarkets are within walking distance, making everything quite accessible. I especially enjoy strolling down to the Marina to relax and unwind with my girlfriend. I'd absolutely suggest this place to anyone! The team members are genuinely warm and welcoming, and the office ladies make me feel valued and appreciated. I had reservations initially, but I'm confident I made the right decision. This is a fantastic option for remote workers like myself who want a peaceful, serene living environment. I'm completely happy here! :) By the way, each unit comes equipped with its own washer and dryer!

Negative: My husband and I relocated to R2 in spring and have discovered ourselves residing in what feels like a college dormitory despite paying premium rent. Our time here has been deeply frustrating, and the mgmt team has ignored our repeated complaints. The apartment entrance doors are sturdy and secure, which sadly means they're extremely heavy and neighbors appear utterly unconcerned about the constant noise they create at any time of day or night -- doors are perpetually being slammed. 6AM, 2PM, 10PM, 3AM. I'm amazed the hinges haven't given way by now. If your unit is positioned along a hallway, the door slamming reverberates directly into your living space. Weekend sleep-ins are impossible; you'll be jolted awake by a slamming door at 6AM, then again mere minutes after. If you own a smartphone, you'll likely struggle with no signal, forcing you to step outside every time you need to make a call. You'll constantly hear neighbors having phone conversations right outside your window and pacing back and forth at unreasonable hours. The residents of R2 seem unable to manage their pets or supervise their kids properly. It sounds like the courtyard dogs are constantly engaged in battles with one another. The barking never stops, and once one dog starts, all the others join in; their owners simply don't bother trying to quiet them, so the noise continues indefinitely. Children are screaming in the courtyard at 7AM on both weekdays and weekends. R2 has also become a filming location -- recently there were Adidas commercial shoots happening at the pool. There's a constant stream of unfamiliar people throughout the complex who clearly don't live here, often appearing intoxicated. Ultimately, we didn't anticipate experiencing this level of constant disruption at R2 for the price of a one bedroom/one bath unit. We've submitted complaints to mgmt repeatedly, but nothing has changed. It's truly disappointing because from the outside, such an upscale property with such high costs should never deliver the experience of living in a dorm or create such persistent disturbances.

The previous reviews hit the mark. We're paying premium prices yet it feels like a college dorm. There's constant door banging, residents shouting, and dogs barking throughout the day and night. The rent is absolutely unreasonable for what you get. The landlord refuses to address complaints and seems only interested in maximizing profits. We will absolutely be leaving once our lease ends. With the fees they're charging, you could live near the ocean instead.

Unethical, illegal business practices. Have consulted a real estate attorney to confirm this to be true. And they are unprofessional - have written R2 three letters about the matter in question but no one even replies. Avoid.

I have lived in R2 Living lofts since mid 2017, however my issues only began after moving from unit 1019 to unit 1020. I am a light skinned African American man and my adoptive family is Mexican-American. I am a business owner, I always dress in a suit, I always pay my rent on time, my unit is always clean and well decorated, I conduct myself professionally and greet my neighbors with a smile. I am a model tenant. Not too long after moving to unit 1020, our Caucasian neighbors in unit 1021 began making various complaints about us. They would complain about noise even when we weren't home. At the same time, we experienced a number of concerns with our new unit that was not a problem in the old unit. Unit 1020 was infested with fleas and we even saw some roaches! We had other issues, such as an actual hole in the wall in our bedroom closet leading to the outside that was filled with mold after rains flooded our closet. Our smoke detector was so defective that shower steam would set it off. This resulted in us having to keep the bathroom door closed, which led to mold growing in the bathroom. It wasn't until there was a health concern that this $20 detector was replaced. When I submit maintenance concerns through the web portal, the work orders are sometimes closed with no work being completed, or it takes weeks for even minor repairs. Between the false complaints coming from our neighbors and our need for maintenance, relations between us and management became strained, which led to some poor judgment on the part of R2 Living's building manager, Holly Heese. I received a number of complaints from our business clients that Holly was being "rude and aggressive" upon learning that they were my clients. Holly's behavior was as embarrassing as it was unprofessional and it cost me thousands of dollars and multiple clients. Since that time, it has felt as though Holly has made it her goal to collect enough evidence to evict me and has threatened to do so more than once. She has passed along ridiculous emails in order to make me miserable here, including complaining about the sound of my doorbell, or that I gave a client the code to open the front gate (it was actually one of the maintenance staff that gave the code, but I took the blame). A few months back, we learned that unit 1021 were harassing us with complaints. Every day, the tenants in 1021 would glare at my (now estranged) wife with such malintent that she ended up moving out of the building because she was afraid that the people in 1021 were going to harm her. This same couple glared at my friend's (then) 13 year old Mexican sister with what was described as 'hatred'. This couple would fight loudly every night and the smell of their cigarettes permeated through our walls. I said nothing for months, but saw this as a safety concern for my family. I wrote them a letter, which I also sent to Holly and shared my concerns with Holly that our neighbors were targeting us based on our ethnicity. Holly appeared to take their side to such an extent that I believe she instigated further hostilities by sharing my private concerns with our neighbors and potentially encouraging them to complain more as 'revenge'. Since then, the complaints increased to such a degree that security began coming to my door for no reason. They banged on our door while I was playing a board game with my family and told us to keep the noise down. But don't take my word for it, have a look at the video footage at: (from the Ring doorbell - the security guard actually put his ear up to the door and they waited until they heard my god daughter laugh and used that as an opening to 'warn' us). same footage, taken from one of the security cameras inside of my home. They banged on our door because a kid laughed? That's insane. The following week, security came to listen at our door for a "noise complaint", but we were 2,400 miles away in New York City! I called Securitech and what I was told directly that management was paying them to listen at my door as part of their 'nightly rounds' and harass me if they heard ANYTHING. When I told management that I felt that I was being discriminated against, their response an attorney letter falsely alleging that I 'threatened' security and threatening me with eviction yet again. Needless to say, I do not recommend R2 Living Lofts and genuinely feel as though I have been the victim of racism due to my (and more than likely) my family's ethnicity.

I looked all over LA - from the Valley to Orange County to Hollywood and parts of Malibu before I chose R2. I have lived here for a year and I have loved the entire experience - the location is fantastic, the staff is incredibly responsive, the grounds are clean, the apartment layouts are wonderful, the people are kind, the amenities are great and the staff makes a concerted effort to have events and activities that are responsive to the tenants. From the beginning, I have had nothing but positive action from the staff focused on everything, beginning with what I would like in an apartment and what I need on move in to check ins throughout the lease to make sure that everything is ok. The staff has always greeted me with kindness whenever and wherever I see them, on the apartment premises or not. I see the same action that they have shown with me applied to the entire location - they are always focused on what will enhance the overall living experience for all of the tenants. I love the openness of the layout of the building, the layout of my apartment and so many other apartments that I have seen in the building. I feel safe as a single woman in this location and I appreciate the great combination of privacy and community that I feel living here. In full disclosure, I have a dog and I have been impressed with the constant diligence and focus on cleanliness that I see. Overall, I have seen owners who are conscientious and responsible. I have read some of the reviews and I understand the frustration that non-dog owners must feel - if you absolutely HATE dogs then this probably is not the place for you - but make that choice because you hate dogs and not on the issue of cleanliness. That said, I have lived in places both before and after I had a dog, and this place is cleaner than many places I lived where no pets were around. I love the fact that I can walk to the marketplace in the Marina, that places deliver to the address easily and that I can get anywhere in LA easily. In the interest of time, ignore the bad reviews, check it out for yourself and get your happy on. You deserve to know what it feels like to live in a great place.
