This is for 740 S. Burnside Ave., Los Angeles, CA, 90036. Things start off nice with the manager, Sylvia charming you. Then she quickly becomes a little too nosy and constantly hits you with a barrage of questions. That wasn't the problem though. We put in out 30 day notice, in a timely fashion. We indicated we may be interested in switching to a one bedroom, but we definitely put in a notice to move out of the one bedroom. The manager told us this was okay, and that if we wanted a one bedroom, to put it in writing. We never did because we ended up deciding not to get the one bedroom. Two days before we were ready to move out, the manager tells us we have to stay another month. The reasoning was flawed. We asked her for her boss's name and information, but got no response. The property company behind this complex is very mysterious and does it's best to not reveal its name. Their name won't even appear on your lease. So, I was forced to spend my time googling the information. When I finally found it, I called Harrison Properties, to have one of their principals, either Elizabeth A. Harrison or Tanya T. Zimmerman, not sure who I spoke with because they wouldn't provide a name, scream at me during the whole entire conversation. I wanted to see if we could come to a mutual understanding like any two adults, but she was nasty. She did not let me get a word in and was the most rude person I have ever talked to in my life. She was only speaking to me like that because she was hiding behind the phone and her anonymity. She blamed me that they were not able to rent out the one bedroom and for them losing money, which is insane because I am not paid to rent out their properties. What it all boils down to is that the manager told us incorrect information, and she refused to own up to it. Her boss is insane and should not be working in any industry where people are involved, because she will not respect you. Then, when I received the security deposit back, they mailed it to the incorrect place. Instead of owning up to it, they called me asking to confirm the address telling me I gave them the wrong one. When I received the check, I realized that they both put it in the wrong name and left off the new apartment number. If they would take responsibility, so many miscommunications could be avoided. But because they make so many mistakes, they are afraid to admit them. They used more than half of my security deposit for random things. The painting was over $500. A security deposit is meant to cover the apartment owners in case the tenant ruins the property. There was absolutely no damage to the apartment as the manager noted when we walked through before leaving. She didn't want to tell me what the painting fee was when I asked because deep down she knows what they are doing is wrong. I'm sure if they rennovated the whole apartment and upgraded it, it would cost the entire $1,500 but that is not the nature of a security department. THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST RIPOFF. The rent is too damn high, and the apartments are not nearly as nice as surrounding properties that are just a wee bit higher. The bathrooms are so old and archaic and can't believe they charged as much as they did. The bathrooms are tiny. All you can do in there is shower. Literally. When I moved in, I had heard that someone had been robbed in the building. The manager told me that it was someone that the tenant knew. I am now realizing that these people just say whatever they need to to mask the truth, and they are nasty about it. There are a million nice places in the area. Please avoid this place like the plague.
