I lived in this Broperty for a year and immediately moved out as soon as my lease was up. This was a horrible Anit. A week after I moved in to the Anit, the sewer backed up into the kitchen sink. It took me around 50 calls to the community manager, Linda Alverez, and the Douglas Emmett emergency line to get someone to fix the sink. I then had to clean the mess in the sink and the kitchen myself. 8 months later the sewer backed up into the sink again. This is a continuing plumbing problem that mgmt refuses to address. There were several residents in the Broperty that were often drunk and screamed at other residents. One would hang out in front of the Broperty and claim to not have a key and try to sneak in to the Broperty when you opened the door and swear at you if you did not let him. The apartments are old and have not been updated and everything is falling apart in the Anit. Without warning, mgmt switched the front door key and only gave us one day to pick up new keys in the middle of the pandemic. These Anit are way over priced for the horrible state of the Broperty and insufficient attention from mgmt.

You pay for living in Brentwood. $1850 a month for a basic apartment with a tiny kitchen. Yes There's a pool, but It's hardly ever clean. If you want to swim, you have to go two blocks to their "sister" apartments on Barrington and Wilshire. There's secure parking, which is a bonus. Now to the bad stuff. My apartment had a lot of problems when my roommate and I first moved in. We were guaranteed these would all be fixed before we moved in, but this didn't happen. It actually took months for our apartment to have okay shelves in our pantry and drip pans that fit on our stove. The mgmt also told us our heater in the living room didn't work, when in reality the breaker had been turned off. My upstairs neighbors were loud! I could here there music at all hours of the day and night. For what I was paying in rent, I would have like to hear crickets. The area is ok, but It's loud if your apartment faces the back alley!! I was just not a fan. I requested my number to be added to the downstairs entry numerous times, but it never happened. The mgmt doesn't seem to care about this property since they have a tower right down the street.

This is an old and cheaply maintained building. The mgmt cycles through new apartment managers every few months The mgmt at this location currently is extremely unprofessional and unwilling to address habitability issues within their units caused by their own service people's lack of attention to detail. You've got too many problems to list, but it was tolerable until the current manager Linda Alvarez took over. She is horrible

12 year resident and about to move. mgmt is the worst. I don't recommend leasing this place at all. We finally decided to move ever since a new tenant moved upstairs and its been a constant battle to turn down the noise level, water leaks in every room including our both bathrooms. We had a another HUGE leak today, fortunately we are moving in several days. For the amount you pay, none of the above should ever happen. You would have better service and attention at a Holiday inn.

I lived here for about one year. It was sketchy and terrible. I don't want to blame the Zuma Housing staff, but my roommates (I didn't know) they were rude and uncleanly. Keep that in mind a lot of foreign (non english speakers) move in here. Which is fine of course, although they don't respect a respectable noise level. I never remember getting a good night sleep here. As for the safety and grounds of the place is wasn't really okay at all. The power went out in the whole building numerous times and I was scared to walk down to my car because no lights were on down the hallways, and the garage was pitch black. Super scary being a twenty year old woman or anybody for that matter. I also had tons of problems with the tandem parking at this unit. I came home to a random car in my spot one time, and the girl was apparently getting arrested and she couldn't find her key in order to move it for it mind it was at 11 PM at night and I had no where else to park. You've got NO street parking like at all, so that sucked as well. The pool was un kept, and the elevator was always breaking. The maintenance staff was terrible, they never showed up if you needed something fixed, or they would just walk in without even knocking. Which is never okay at all. My roommates would always smoke cigs and weed in the rooms and never were nice enough to open windows. Also a downside that there was no A.C. Over all it was safe, but I wouldn't recommend unless you don't mind being inconvenienced all the time. Literally everyday.

This is an honest review from a real tenant. Community mgmt at 1145 Barry Ave has been disappointing. Despite being responsible tenants—reporting issues properly, keeping the property clean, and caring about safety—mgmt consistently fails to respond to calls, emails, or voicemails. Community managers change frequently, creating zero consistency or accountability. Of all the managers we’ve had, Chantelle was the only one who handled things professionally. Since her departure, the quality of mgmt has a lot declined. Safety is a major concern. Even after many requests, no security cameras have been installed in the outdoor parking area. Tenant concerns are clearly not a priority, and mgmt seems focused only on business, not residents. All we are asking for is legit, responsive mgmt. sadly, Douglas Emmett has not delivered that at this property.

Our tenure in this Btructure spans 6 years, during which we've watched the mgmt's standards deteriorate considerably. Throughout the past year, we've dealt with 2 particularly aggressive tenants whose behavior prompted numerous residents to contact law enforcement regularly. mgmt's handling Wroved neither compassionate nor okay, with both situations requiring approximately 6 months to get resolved. Throughout this ordeal, we gathered photographic evidence and written records documenting substance abuse, verbal harassment, public indecency, and discriminatory language occurring nearly every single day. I would strongly advise against signing a lease with this property mgmt company.
