“The Sagamore apartment building is a great place to live. The front door/concierge always greets you with a smile and takes excellent care to make sure you get your packages/deliveries. Maintainence/porter staff to excellent care of the building, clean and kept up. Gym is well maintained and has everything you need to work out. Small dog park is easily accessible. Even an indoor play area for the small ones. Lots of machines available in the laundry room. Management staff is super helpful and professional, special mention to Aprell. The neighborhood has everything you need for food shopping and dining within easy walking distance. Pharmacy and Urgent Care center nearby too. Highly recommend.”

Aprell and Kyle in the leasing office were always incredibly helpful, happy and welcoming. They were always very quick to respond to any needs, questions and concerns. The concierge always went above and beyond to ensure residents felt safe and supported. The building was always kept clean and the amenity spaces are truly fantastic. Could not recommend The Sagamore enough!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“My experience at the Sagamore was phenomenal. The staff were friendly and supportive, the community was nice, and the amenities really offered a great living experience! The building is also conveniently located in the UWS putting it near the 1 stop and some lovely restaurants. Altogether a great experience; if I hadn't had to move out of the city because of work, I'd still be living there! 10/10”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“The Sagamore is an excellent property. Well located, quality GE kitchen appliances, great service, great amenities. The gym is nice and the roof deck is especially nice with communal grills that can be used.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“The day that I toured the Sagamore, I felt like I was in a bit of a dream. I'd seen many apartments by that time and most were just passable in appearance, security and amenities. The Sagamore, in comparison, has a lovely entry decorated in a contemporary style and professional concierge to help you with anything you might need. The third floor has several amenities including a HUGE outdoor patio and a private dog run for pet owners, as well as a large air-conditioned laundry room with at least 15 washer and dryers, and a private gym which you can use for a nominal yearly fee. Residents can also use the beautiful rooftop to sit out and enjoy the view. While these are great perks, I have been enjoying my apartment most of all. I've had minimal issues with mechanicals, but each time I've contacted the building, they've fixed the issue within 24 hours. Additionally, I feel very safe in the building. The only issue I've had since moving in is with the sound of sirens as my apartment faces Amsterdam Ave and it is a corridor to 2 hospitals. The sound of regular traffic is actually minimal as the windows are well sealed, but sirens are just another level up noise-wise. The longer I've lived in NYC (just 6 months now) the more I appreciate the location of the Sagamore on the UWS. It's a great area, very close to Central Park and Riverside Park, the subway is just 3 short blocks away, 2 small grocery stores and CVS are 2-3 blocks and Trader Joe's is 4 blocks north on Columbus Ave. Just a little further on 96th St. are Whole Foods, TJ Maxx, Sephora and Target. And there are several great restaurants all along Amsterdam and Columbus. It's really a perfect spot!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“My family lives living at the Sagamore! The location is great, with lots of restaurants, playgrounds, parks, and schools nearby. We love the well-kept and up-to-date amenities like the gym, playroom, dog run, courtyard, grills, and rooftop - and use them almost daily! Our apartment is full of light, has a great layout, and modern appliances and fixtures. But what really makes this building feel like home is the incredible friendly and helpful staff. The doormen, maintenance crew, and property management team all go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and to resolve any issues. I live this community and highly recommend it!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I have had two apartments at The Sagamore (studio and now a one-bedroom) and have to say it is the best building and community that I had in my eight years in New York! Other than the apartments being well maintained with amazing sunlight, the staff is super friendly and the management is very courteous and always making an effort to show appreciation for tenants. What I love most about The Sagamore is how fast you get used to living here, after only a few weeks it feels like home. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a 'home' in NYC!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I have lived in the Sagamore for 1.5 years, and it is a wonderful place to live! The building is close to Central Park and Riverside Park and is very well maintained; my individual apartment has modern appliances, beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, and plenty of sunlight. The amenities are also great: the rooftop and courtyard are great for hosting guests, the laundry room is clean and always has machines available, and the spacious dog run is my (and my pup’s!) favorite unique amenity. The staff are also very friendly and quick to respond whenever I need assistance. I highly recommend this building!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I really enjoy the apartment building (nice fixtures, lots of light even in common spaces, great staff). I also think the management team is professional and excited to work with tennents. Highly recommend.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“For the last 20 years, The Sagamore and New York City have been my home, and I am grateful for both. The staff here, including office people, front desk folks and maintenance crew, are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to make my home a place I look forward to curling up in. The entire community, staff and residents, is like family to me, which has been especially comforting during Covid. The building is well maintained, and issues are resolved quickly and satisfactorily. Social activities are welcome and give us the opportunity to get to know our neighbors better -- and chow down on yummy treats. And I couldn't ask for a better neighborhood. Restaurants, shopping, an easy walk to the Hudson River or Central Park. And even closer is the lovely West Side Community Garden. I am happy to be here and happy to share my experience!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“The Sagamore is a true community, made even more special by the people who work here everyday. Since moving in in January, they have made my dog and me feel very welcome. The residents are respectful and friendly, and the staff go out of their way to be not only helpful but to really give this building heart. They frequently organize events that add extra cheer to your day and they've been able to keep this up in a safe, virtual way during the coronavirus pandemic. They have also taken exceptional care to make sure our environment is safe and still operational during this time.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“We have had a pierre de terre at the Sagamore for 4 years; splitting our time between a large family home in Denver and a not so large but efficient studio at this wonderful pet friendly property. While compact, it meets our needs nicely. We live in a renovated unit and are the first tenants to occupy the space. It is comfortable, modern, and has great storage for a unit its size. We enjoy a functional kitchen with new appliances and even have a comfortable dining area. I have seen larger units and would describe them as equally functional and well appointed. The Sagamore is located in a sleepy section of the UWS, with few retail opportunities and a handful of restaurants. Yes, it is in close proximity to a public housing building as noted in other reviews, but living in a project does not mean you can not be a good neighbor! We have experienced no issues in the time we have lived here based on proximity. I find it to be a quiet and safe area.. sometimes so quiet I forget that I am in NYC! What sets the Sagamore apart from similar properties is its utterly outstanding staff who are among the most friendly and committed folks I have ever met. Without sounding corny, there is a real "family" feel throughout the building which can be a rarity in NYC. Always willing to lend a helping hand, or extend a warm personal greeting these folks help create a real community feel. Any maintenance issues we have had are tended to almost immediately and there is open and honest communication. The building is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The public areas are beautiful and also well tended to. In my opinion, the children's playroom could use a bit of attention to update, but it is a lovely space for the building's kids albeit frustrating when you find batteries dead and parts missing to some of the toys. There is a small updated business center with a copy machine and 2 computers/printers for residents' use which is a nice bonus. If I were to find any fault with our experience, it would be that the rents are high relative to other buildings/location as are the costs associated with renting the lounge for a private function or renting an in-house storage area. Still, if you are looking for a place to call home and can afford the rental structure, in my opinion you can't do much better than the Sagamore. It is a safe, friendly, and well run welcoming community. Because of the current Covid situation we are unable to travel easily to NYC from our primary home and it is is will great sadness that we are not renewing our lease. To be honest, the Sagamore is a place we had hoped to call home for many years to come. It is with confidence that I recommend this great property to anyone in search of a great place to live.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“The Sagamore was a wonderful choice for our family. The staff is wonderful. Maintenance is prompt and efficient. The amenities sparkle, and the people in the office go over and above the call of duty to help with anything and everything. In addition, they make every effort to incorporate the residents into the community through regular building events. We are very happy here.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“We absolutely love living here. The building's amenities are well worth it and the staff is incredibly responsive to anything you need. We've been so impressed with the true community feel of this building--it's so very rare to find in New York. We love coming home to the Sagamore.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I love this community because the staff is so warm and welcoming. Also, the building has many open spaces accessible to all residents, which creates a nice sense of community. The views from the rooftop are stunning! Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience at The Sagamore.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“Wow! If I could give more stars I would. The building is impeccably maintained, everyone is super nice and friendly that works here, and the units themselves are beautiful. The management staff truly puts customer service first and you feel like they are always working with you to solve any problem that may arise. It is the best building on the Upper West Side!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“Simply put, the Sagamore is the best kept secret on the UWS. If you don't believe me, come see it for yourself and say what's up to the lovely doormen. Living here is like living in a hotel, the amenities are immaculate and the people are friendly and respectful.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“My husband and I downsized from a nearby large co-op to a two bedroom here at The Sagamore. I anticipated the move to be a big adjustment, but we very quickly were settled and happy in our new community and home. Now I have been here for nine years and have for various reasons, moved between 4 different units and I have been happy in them all. I can't say enough about Rebecca Hastings and Caroline Burns in the management office. They are kind, helpful, upbeat and can solve any issue that might arise. Aprell Lemon is our newest person on the team and I can tell that she will be a bright light on this team. Every one of the men on the staff are wonderful and they keep the building spotless and running efficiently. I love it here and would highly recommend it to anyone.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I recently moved into The Sagamore, and so far it has been a great experience. The doormen and maintenance staff are incredibly attentive & very friendly. I've already used all of the amenities (roof deck, terrace, gym & laundry), all of which have been very clean and not crowded. The building also offers modern features, such as emails about packages and a website with community and building feature updates. The Sagamore physical space is in very good condition, and I am feeling great about my decision to move into the building. Caroline Burns, the Assistant Property Manager, was a huge part of making the move-in experience so great. She made her self readily available for showings and to answer any questions prior to moving in. And then once I moved in, she worked diligently to ensure that all of our needs were met and that the move-in process was smooth. I've seen her in the lobby since, and she always greets me with a smile! I'm looking forward to being part of such a warm & friendly community.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“I'm a first time renter in NYC and Caroline at The Sagamore made it as easy as possible. I moved here from out of town and she kept constant communication with me throughout the process. I kept my search in the UWS and saw upwards of 30 apartments while I was in town for a few days. I immediately felt at home at The Sagamore and all of my questions were answered. With great amenities, staff, and other residents, this dog-friendly building was the perfect choice for my first home in the city.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“The property is clean and well maintained. The staff is professional, prompt, and knowledgable. The management is caring and always available and professional. I always feel well cared for, comfortable, and at home in the community.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“Beyond impressed by Staff and the up-keep of the building. Has been an incredible experience as we just moved in and look forward to spending more time in the building and all the amenities that are there!!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“Just moved in. Experience with management staff and building staff could not have been better. Building is great, very well-maintained. Gym, laundry, entertainment facilities are very nice, parking onsite. Area is great - 2 blocks from park, lots of dining and shopping, especially from this point south and on Broadway 2 block away.”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“My husband and I have absolutely loved living at The Sagamore. We never knew a building could feel so much like a home, from the beautiful living space/facilities to fun events to the staff, who have gone above and beyond to make sure we're taken care of. We have been so impressed and happy here!”
— 189 W 89TH ST · Manhattan“We've been in this building for almost two years, and love it! The staff and amenities are excellent, and our inside-facing (away from the street) apartment has zero noise. We never even hear our neighbors, but I think that's mostly due to luck with who lives near us. I'd love it if the price was a little lower, but I believe we get what we pay for, even at the current prices.”
