RIVERBAY CORPORATION · avg 3.1 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Pros: Well maintained building, management is responsive. Cons: Sometime the elevators aren’t clean.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“CCPD don't do nothing, if you go to section 5, 2 and especially 4 and that's an easy way to get robbed. I have come home late at night and seen multiple despicable actions. This place is a dump, it's the projects at this point. Most of the things that happen here don't make the news but it's bad out here. Did i mention that you can only have optimum. This place is worse than some projects and this is coming from a person who used to live in the projects. 0/10”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: The building is familiar. It’s central to both stop and shops and buses and my floor is very nice and never too dirty Cons: Maintenance has gone down in terms of quality and I think everyone feels it. I have to hound them to fix mistakes and we had a leak and mold issue that I had to eventually call the city to report it to get anything done. Even things like plaster and fixing issues that maintenance men caused. That’s disappointing because the bargain of coop can’t be beat. Advice to landlord: Invest in maintenance and fixing the issues. The building is already old.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Unit 20F Pros: Utility included and great spacing for price Cons: Have to buy in share for co op”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Don't go to sections 4, 2, or 5. You will get robbed or assaulted. Every night various outside with ski masks and they are smoking weed. They will rob you if you got good-looking shoes or if you look at them funny. Please whatever you do not come here. different men stand.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Spacious apartments for leas Cons: Repair process is tedious Advice to landlord: Prioritize repairs”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Pros: The pricing is good and some of the apartments come with balconies. You can also upgrade the flooring which is a plus. Cons: No dishwasher or washing machines allowed in the apartment. No control of temperature, the building is always way too hot it way too cold”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Was on a wait list for 5 years because my family already lives in Co op and thought it would be better if I were close to them. Oh gosh do I regret it. These new tenants are Loud, rude constantly slam their doors. Always soliciting something its a shame how the people are running this place down. You try and complain but no one listens. The walls are super thin it's ridiculous. I sleep with large headphones on. My neighboors above me have a kid that runs, stomps, jumps constantly. My neighboor beside me has two girls who scream and cry all day long. They slam into the walls and they get yelled at by their father constantly. These walls are so thin I could hear what's being done in someone else's private room. Extremely disappointed wasn't expecting that project mentality to be alive in this community. They need to screen the people better from here on out.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: It is managed well and is relatively clean. Cons: No control on apartment temperature.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Split side elevators to service different sections of floors. Helps with speed Cons: Lots of dog poop around the building Advice to landlord: People should pick up after their dogs”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“This place is a plumbing nightmare. Every summer it’s floods, leaks, and constant construction. You can’t live peacefully. They are steadily wanting access to your apartment to check for leaks. The convectors are a health hazard and needs to be be replaced. They have the nerve to increase rent. If they fixed everything the correct way they wouldn’t have to constantly repair the same things over and over. I literally hate it here now!!! I have anxiety when I leave my home for fear I’ll return to a damaged apartment from a flood.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: You pay for maintenance which includes rent and utilities Cons: Sometimes it takes a very long time for them to come and service your apartment”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Pros: Pleasant neighbors for the most part, beautiful landscaping, lots of stores nearby, access to public transportation, quiet unless there's a fair/event or large groups of people nearby Cons: Radiators are bound to leak at least once or twice a year, heating is a hit or miss, water pressure isn't horrible but could be better, thin walls and doors, tenant construction can be noisy Advice to landlord: Offer apartment improvements for longtime tenants, fully replace radiators, full replace pipes in bathroom and kitchen, install ramp in stairwells in times of emergency and for accessibility in general”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Co-op city is a nice community, clean, beautiful, so much community activity Cons: Unfortunately, over the years it’s gotten louder at night. With people hanging out and being noisy in the late hours.”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“My name is Beverly M Briggs. I moved into Coop city in 1992 Now Iam a retired Veteran with 30 years’ service ,72 years old with several orthopedic disabilities. My concern is the front elevator in garage 7. During the years I have lived in Coop city this elevator has continuously gone out of service. I did not pay much attention to it because in my youth I was able to walk to the back of the garage to the rear elevator . In the last 10 years due to injuries obtained during my military career I am unable to walk long distances or carry heavy objects without experiencing knee and back pain. Each time I enter the garage I experience pain walking to the back of the garage to use the rear elevator. Not only is it painful, but dangerous at night as well as dodging the incoming traffic coming up, the ramp. The front elevator has broken this year alone 2021, March 6, March 9, March 28, June 19, July 8, July 10, Aug 18, Aug 23, Oct 26. It remains out of order until further notice. I called the garage they told me to call management. I have call management, leave a voice mail message, but I have never received a call back. If the back elevator goes out of service, I won’t be able to get to my vehicle. I cannot walk up steps. My question is why can management replace this elevator? It has been malfunctioning since 1992. It seems that management spends more money repairing it. It appears that no one cares about the senior citizens in the community.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I was happy at first. For the past 5 years Coop city has been getting from bad to worse. The halls ways stink and there is no up keep. The washing machines are always broken. I am very disappointed...”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“My mom lives here. She has had a leak in the bathroom ceiling for about a year now, You have to make an appointment for them to see it, a month later for just scrapping and plaster, then another month to paint. By the time the plaster dries it leaks again and you begin the process all over again because they don't fix things they just put a bandaid on it. Now on top the bathroom ceiling once again leaking, hanging down and debri on toilet, sink and shower. The convectors that supplies heat/ AC got backed up due to no drainage in the basement, flooded her apartment with her new furniture she spent thousands on. The floors are like a waterbed. They had to call an outside plumber to fix the problem in the basement. It took them days to finally get the convector to stop leaking. I drove from New Jersey left work with no pay, helped contain the leak drove to main office and got no help. I cleaned up came back the next day day and it was like I did nothing and also didn't get a call back until the next day and even that was just to collect info from me because the real issue is down stairs in the basement. The apartment is totally unlivable and they expect my elderly mom to wait for them between the hrs of 8am - 4pm in two weeks to see the apartment. No bathroom, no A/C (98 degrees yesterday by the way)and floor tiles sticking up like little pyramids and wet. It is totally unsafe, unhealthy and life threatening. My mother always pays ahead of time, worked all her life and wants to enjoy her retirement chapter of her life, but hey The Riverbay Corporation will get to it on thier time. NOT FAIR AND to add insult to injury they used to pay for the damage due to bad convectors because your not allowed to have in window A/C units. They are forcing people to go thru condo insurance to fix damage and replace lost/ damaged property. Shouldn't that be illegal?”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Most of the neighbors a good friendly and neat Cons: Some of the workers and managers are incompetent Advice to landlord: Do a lot better on repairs”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Pros: Affordable rent you don’t pay utilities Cons: Crime has went up Advice to landlord: Be prepare to protect yourself from the uptick in crime”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Pros: Friendly neighbors that make you feel apart of the community Cons: Secluded area with limited public transportation times Advice to landlord: Less turn around time on apartment maintenance”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Pros: Building is clean and well kept Cons: The walls are very thin Advice to landlord: Put modern sinks in for the kitchen and bathrooms for new residents”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Elevator Basement laundry Clean Cons: Old rundown No roof access Advice to landlord: Use better materials”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Location. Cleanliness. Laundry room. Quick elevator rides. Compactor room on every floor. Cons: There is no sound proofing insulation’s between apartments so you can hear everything from neighbors. Advice to landlord: When shareholders move out and apartments are restored, you should think about ways to help deal with sound proofing. Convector covers should be replaced after each shareholder moves out or mold removal/cleaning should be provided to each shareholder upon request.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Pros: Building has heat and water included and neighbors are pretty relaxed overall. Cons: Recycling isn’t super clear Advice to landlord: Clearly mark out where the recycling goes”
— 120 ERSKINE PLACE · Bronx“Well no good feelings people at the office no professional, actitud, negative ???? they made you fell like you want to life for free ????????????????????????Really bad service I went a few day ago to drop off an aplicación to by a 2 bed unit”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“The walls are paper thin, I have to sleep with ear plugs in order to get adequate rest. Water is cut off often without prior notice due to quote on quote emergency repairs. We don't receive credit on our monthly maintenance fees for this inconvenience. You lose 3 months of maintenance once you decide to move.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Terrible. Live with noisy neighbors who don't work so they stay home all day and kids run jump stomp scream bang yell thump drag furniture ALL day long and the apartments have no soundproofing. It's excessive noise and it overtakes my apt to The point where I can no longer function properly in my apt. Noise emits LOUD into my apt. No peace and quiet enjoyment of my apt. The floors have no underlayment material to help with impact and airborne noise. Management ignore the complaints and if they feel like responding, they act like robots and take sides with the offender as opposed to properly investigating the noise and assisting per the rules in occupancy agreement. No enforcement of rules. They make bias decisions based on their own opinions instead of facts. Even the police does not help. I've found out they even defamed me in their records by stating lies about me. This ordeal has stressed me to the point where I've had anxiety attacks and now take blood pressure meds among other medication for stress related illnesses. My income does not allow me to move elsewhere and they won't grant me a free transfer. I have to pay to move from one unit to another and will be responsible for rent in the old apt for up to 3 months after I move, in addition to rent for the new apt. So I have no way out. Been sitting in the public hallway due to noise because it's unbearable. So, don't move here!”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I am so satisfied, love where I reside the cleanest, location, It is just peaceful has trully been a blessing for me, almost been here 4 yrs. No regrets, where I moved from by the bronx zoo it is as night and day difference , I thank my creator daily for blessing me and continue to bless me, he definitely knew what I needed.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Lived here since 81. Things were ok as a young child. As time went on, countless "----------" moved in and all of the ---- moved out. The place is now 98% ----------. There's nothing here but fake gangsters who stand on the corner and in front buildings and in the lobbies from morning to night; the same faces every day all day. These teens as well as many adults do not work. Ask yourself how they live. Is the entirety of co op on ---------? Some of these groups also stalk and harass along with the fake security around here that is criminal. No real crimes happen there. Fake things happen so that security can remain to continue their criminal activity. There is a complete ring going on. Many are also involved in witchcraft. These folks know when you come and go and follow you all over the place. If you are thinking of moving here, DO NOT, especially if you have children. If you don't listen and you move in and you start hearing footprints above follow you around all day and night, don't say no one told you.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I moved into building 4A in June 1969 and moved out in Oct.1980 after 11 years. At first everything was spanking new! The schools, the stores and everything. The Co-op greenway fair was so much fun! I made so many friends and had the best childhood growing up in Co-op in the 70's!! By the time we moved out the place started to change. It was getting dirtier and teens were hanging out in the front smoking and yelling and banging on drums. People were getting mugged all over the place! The laundry rooms got gross and that was way back in 1980. Imagine the place today LOL!!!!!I got 11 good years out of that place and each year after it got worse and worse as original tenants started to "run". Its a shame because back in the day it was truely lovely. Now it just looks like the rest of the decaying Bronx.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“are you really that shallow, did you really think that everyone on --------- is bad. You are what makes society bad, your ignorance and your shallowness is disgusting. Its people like you that make this world a bad place and trust and believe you will be miserable for the rest of your life. Sad that people like yourself are so self centered with no compassion, and if educated don't show it.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Looking at all the reviews, I realize it is easy for newcomers to think that Coop City is an optimal place to live. This is because notwithstanding all inclusive cheap maintenance, they are only comparing it to where they came from; which evidently was not as nice as where they are now. However, us old timers, (1969 thru the 70"s) have seen the overall decline in the development and services. There has been gross mismanagement, corruption, deterioration, engineering problems, and an increase in crime. The once majority Hasidic and orthodox Jewish population has dwindled down to nil. This was a group that took special interest in the community. They had a very strong voice in what went on with Management and they made a substantial impact on the Community Board and district leaders and were able to see results. A change in the demortaphics over the years has seen the realization of a much more detached resident.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I love co-op city. Compare to other place in New York, co-op city is well maintain and it is so convenient to shop.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“The staff in the administrative office must be education in customer services. The staff doesn't know how to speak to customers and make them wait several weeks or month before we can obtain any answers to our questions regarding maintenance. The staff also need to be educated on how to treat handicaps. There are several residence who have medical issue and require service dogs which can save there lives. These services dog are trained and approved by state laws to insure the safety of the individual. Coop city personnel especially the CCPD are not trained on how to identify a service dog by there vest which is issued by the state or to even ask politely for documentation proving the dog is a therapy dog. Instead the harass the customers and treat them like criminals. We may be black but the days of treating us like garbage ended years ago. The parking is the worst, you have vehicles with plaques parking in No Standing zones and know one does anything about it. Our circle suppose to be clear for traffic to move freely but instead you have vehicles double parked with music blasting and unauthorized vehicle left for hours. There different types of plaques, NYPD, Sanitation, EMS, EMT, NYFD but the most we have seen is MTA and DOE. Who are they to park illegal? Back 10 years ago I would recommend this place as a excellent living place but now I would say if you want to live in the project your more than welcome.. That's what coop city has become any city housing project. So sad...”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I lived in Co-op in the 70's. It was a great place to live back then. It was clean and I had friends every where I turned! I had the best childhood there but in the 80's the neighborhood changed and it got dirty so we moved out.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Ive been living in coop city since 2009, I will first began with the disadvantages for myself. I honestly do not feel safe living here. My car is usually parked in the garage, and entering and exiting the garage early in the morning and late nights are scary. When parking the car, no one is usually around and I pray a car goes pass or others are also parking their car. Leaving the garage to walk to the building for me is also daunting. I pray to get safely to my building w/o being attacked. Living with neighbors can really be tough as well. With the frequent slamming of doors, and the running back and forth over top my head can really be upsetting considering I have to get up early im the morning to go to work or just want a piece of mind. There is constant hammering and drilling early in the morning. The Riverbay staff (those with uniforms) sit on the bench as early as 7am laughing yelling talking loud no respect to those who live here. This is a working class community with a lot of professional people aside from the lowlives. The physical community is beautiful. Its usually clean and the lawns are well manicured. I like the idea of having the shopping mall (another mall is on its way)and fairway not to far from here. The departments do a great job in handling all problematic issues and apppointing the right person to handle such issues. Overrall I wish the city or state would provide more police patrolling in the community especially at night. I plan to stay here for a few more years, its affordable and I love my apartment. After this, I want out of the Bronx.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Just read the reviews of co-op city. Was thinking of mass marketing my adventure tour business there for people who have never experienced the outdoors as I have. Not talking about climbing mount Rushmore but along the lines of easy camping canoe and kayak trips white water rafting in Maine snow tubing ect....Is this something a lot of people would want?”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“My time in Co-op was 1994-2010.I left not due to maintenance problems, construction noise, confused geese or management "issues". I left because of weather! Now the vast majority of residents or as many affectionately say "co-operators" are first time home owners. Owners may not be correct in a co-op but for the sake of this note I'll use it. The thing I disliked of Co-op City was the 'owe" me attitude of many residents. Take a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath terrace apartment with amenities of laundry rooms, porters to take garbage, sweep, mop, shine hallways, lobbies (remember there are some filthy people around and porters have a hell of a job)lawns mowed, gardens watered, private security no matter how you feel about it and so on and so on,you would be paying a whole lot more! With 15,000 units I was always amazed how residents would demand their "problems" to be resolved Johnny on the spot. I agree. Sometimes a resolution needed to be taken almost to the superior court level but some complaint/demands made my head hurt. The sheer size and age of Co-op City is daunting. But if the "co-operators" old and new would realize this, adhere to the By-laws and occupancy rules, take pride and respect what their hard earned money pays for then maybe Co-op City wouldn't be a place that so many are ashamed to say they live/lived there. Co-op City was a design marvel at the time and has the possibility to be a gem again!”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“Co-Op city is a great place to live. My family has lived here for over 25 years and I have never had a problem other than some maintenance issues with my apartment which were taken care of in sufficient time. I take the express bus everyday and it is a joy not to have to ride the bus and then the subway. Cost more but worth it. The hallways & laundry rooms are clean. I have never had a security problem. I live on Baychester which is one of the better areas. Co-op gets a bad rap but there is no community in NY that does not have some type of crime.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“I moved to Co-op City with my parents in 1970, original co-operators. Although Co-op City was still in the process of adding sidewalks, stores, etc., it was a beautiful place to live! I never felt afraid, the maintainance fee was quite a bargain. Now, in 2011 I'm very dissapointed in Co-op City. I still live in our original apartment by myself. Father moved to different apartment after my mom's death and his subsequent remarriage. I'm sorry to say that the quality of people moving in has declined considerably! I often wonder how they are able to afford to live here because the "rent" is not the bargain it used to be. We have had increase after increase after increase in just a few years! Before anybody calls me a racist, I must tell you that I'm an African American woman. I'm fed up with the "scary" looking people I see around here. Fed up with hearing gunshots and seeing people hanging around as though they have nothing better to do. Where are the parents of these kids that I see congregating in groups, doing nothing? This is not the way a so-called middle income neighborhood should be. There's no excuse for this! If it wasn't for the beautiful view I have at my location, I would probably have moved by now. The people of Co-op City had better wake up! With the right management this could still be a wonderful place to live.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“A complex that was built over 30 years ago, with major renovations having been made and continue to be made, for a reasonable price to buy your share in the corporation. Having been a resident for more that 12 years, I have found Co-op City a great place to live. Prior to living here, I owned a Condominium in Cobble Hill the was valued at $250,000 when I sold it. The layout of the 3 bedroom apartment here is better than the condo in Brooklyn. Parking for a monthly fee of less than $65.00 a month is unheard of. The top Maintenance Fee is less than $1,200 a month including your gas and electric. Co-op city having its own public safety department is better than the city police department in responding to an emergency. There are many people here who seem to think that everything should be for nothing but the increases have been low. The person who gave the first review did not know Co-op City.”
— 2049 BARTOW AVENUE · Bronx“them ----- people in coop city are crazy they will play loud music all night long there's mice and to many fires the hall ways small like pee maintenance is naste if say hello the will not say nothing the ----- people will put trash at your apatment door for you to take it out i can't wait to move back to the ----- naberhood in new rochelle ny.”
