“Pros: Great location, elevator building, decent closet space, nice windows, no roaches or mice, laundry on site. Cons: There’s often flies due to the garbage in the basement. Pricey rent for the amount of space, but you’re most paying for the great location.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great super!! L Cons: Loud apts for street facing units”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: good building in the heart of nolita. Awesome super. Cons: ac is not great during a summer heatwave. Packages have been stolen.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location, super (Cesar) was very responsive Cons: Can be noisy, gets hot in the summer”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Unit 5J Pros: Location on Prince street is nice. Building from the exterior looks decent. Cons: I and every other tenant I inquired with on the matter have been repeatedly ignored on pest control issues. Even six floors up the building, cockroaches are a huge and unanswered problem. Management ignores requests for remediation. No right to privacy either. During my tenancy, management decided they would re-do all bathrooms in the building and entered, illegally and without my consent, my place of residence to destroy and rebuild the bathroom. Lastly, total scumbag legal team that will absolutely not return your security deposit. If you are reading this and reside here, I highly recommend you DO NOT PAY the last month of rent before your lease ends. Landlord/management will keep your deposit without a walkthrough, even if you request one. If you complain about this being illegal (it is), they will say "just sue us". Advice to landlord: Comply with New York City and State law please”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great location, back facing units are very quiet, super at the time very responsive, clean building, nice neighbors Cons: apartments low on storage/closet space Advice to landlord: Bring Jaime back as super”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Modern heating and cooling, decent layouts, nothing obnoxious in the building. Management is neither good nor bad; clearly operating at scale so a very corporate feel. Cons: Nothing obviously bad during my experience. If you’re a low maintenance tenant, you probably won’t be bothered by anything.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Pros: LOCATION is amazing and close to all the subways, live in super Cons: There were cockroaches.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“I read the reviews from the other former and current tenants here and I felt compelled to contribute. The building is in a convenient and wonderful location, but the building management is terrible and inflexible, the rent is overpriced, there is no upkeep to speak of, the pests are insane! cockroaches overrun this place. The company rents to both professionals who work at the courts (mostly) and to students whose parents pay their rent. The whole time I lived here, I felt like some irresponsible kid would fall asleep with a lit cigarette and the whole floor would go up in flames. The elevator is frequently out of service and anything that requires service takes forever to get serviced. This place is not worth your time or headache.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“The area is really nice, if you are young and want to be in the center of everything. THEIR BIGGEST PROBLEM are the ROACHES and BUGS, if you are ready to share your flat with roaches then this is exactly what you are looking for. I have addressed this issue, send pictures to the management company and never ever got a reply back! It is horrible! they are everywhere in your apartment.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Very overpriced for the area. The hallways are very beat up, the apartments aren't in great condition for the price. The building has major pest infestation issues. Lots of flies in the basement and in the apartments! Lots of noisy young people, so it feels like a dorm. Over $3k a month for a small studio in a min doorman building and poorly maintained apartments and building. You. Can do much better in the area. Will not be renewing.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“Surprise #1 - awful, awful management. they let (ALL!?!) the washers/dryers remain broken for weeks on end. began to paint the lobby and then quit with a color swatch already painted on the wall. one elevator that is constantly broken/serviced. Surprise #2 - BUGS! i mean a LOT OF BUGS. cockroaches coming from under the fridge and up through the stove/oven. mgmt only has exterminator come every few months. PLEASE SEND MORE OFTEN! Surprise #3 - rent increase. once they get you in, next renewal is up 12-15%. unreal. ... and what i should have anticipated: the building is above a supermarket and across from several restaurants. those establishments get early morning deliveries from big trucks. big trucks make noise. do not expect to sleep past 5am. hope this helps.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“I would advise you to stay away from this building given on the lower floors there are significant bug issues.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“While the location of this building is great - there are a few things to be aware of that tenants should know about. The management company is pretty inflexible and do not respond well to complaints. The most recent instance of this is the laundry room where we have 4 washers and 4 dryers, all of which have not worked for 2 months. The response from the management company to my ask for them to fix the machines was "there is nothing in your lease that says we must offer you laundry". Hmm - ok, glad I pay $3000 for a studio in a building that one of my key credentials is laundry.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“I am about to move out of my apartment at 50 Prince Street (because I am getting married) and for the last 3 years I have had a fantastic experience with the management company as well as the super in the building.”
— 50 PRINCE STREET · Manhattan“My wife and I lived in a junior 1 bedroom for more than 6 years from 1998 to 2004. Initially we thought the inside facing view (wall of another building) was a bad choice. But we soon learned, this unit had limited street noise and concluded it was a good choice. Occasionally we had noisy neighbors but nothing more than what goes with apartment life. It was also pleasantly warm in winter. Management provided optional extermination service for roaches. The neighborhod is excellent and has all the reasons why people love New York. Management is heavy handed and inflexible. Apartment bathrooms were being upgraded throughout the building during several months before I left in December 2004. Tenants were advised they would not have access to their shower for 5 days and were advised to consider using a nearby gym. I left because I took a job north of Boston. That didn't matter to management and they offered no option to exit the lease amicably other than pay the lease until the end or until they found another renter. I rate my experience as a 4 because we liked the building and the neighborhood. However, future tenants should consider the impression they get from management when negotiating the lease.”
