— 651 CLASSON AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Small building, rent stabilized, kept afloat by the care of a long-term tenant who is very invested in making sure the building is clean and issues are taken care of, but fights an uphill battle with neighbors and management. Cons: Front doors often left open, occasionally loud neighbors, packages go missing, often dirty lobby area, management not very responsive in a timely fashion.”
“Unit 4A Pros: Apartment itself is nice, modern kitchen, clean. Didn’t have any major issues/problems with appliances, plumbing, etc. Exterminator comes periodically. Cons: Building is not well cleaned/maintained. Stairwell is frequently dirty and smelly, on part because neighbor(s) smoke in the stairwell. There is no safe place to leave packages so they are either not delivered or stolen.”
— 515 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Super responded to every inquiry within 24 hours. Did everything he could to help us. Our unit was also nicely renovated. Cons: But our neighbors were all horrible. Yelling at all hours, suspicious smells, etc. we constantly found cigarettes, sections of weaves, bags of white powder, and all kinds of trash in the stairwell. When the landlord repainted the stairwell, the walls were disgusting again within a week due to negligence. Advice to landlord: Evict horrible tenants. Also, repaint front of the building and install some type of garden in the green patch. Lastly, please manicure the fence so that the weeds from the subway don’t spill into the complex.”
— 515 ST MARKS AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: - The apartment had a fairly new reno - Maintenance is quick and efficient when it happens - Cheap for a 3 bed Cons: - Roaches in the apartment that weren’t taken seriously by the exterminator for the property - Unresponsive super - We had mice twice in the year we lived there (turns out they were coming in from behind the stove which was not cleaned or checked before we moved in) - Stairwell is disgusting and not maintained (there was a dead roach on the wall for months) - Packages were stolen frequently - The door handle broke a couple times for the front door and the buzzer from our apartment didn’t work Advice to landlord: Just clean it and do monthly extermination’s for all apartments.”
