“Pros: neighbors are almost all wonderful, courteous management staff over the phone especially repair department, trash well-maintained, skilled professional repair contractors, building allows pets, rent stabilized and spacious units Cons: INSUFFICIENT HEAT AND HOT WATER!!! improper mold remediation and frequent water leaks, displeased with overall services by live-in superintendent. pests and insufficient pest prevention, noisy neighbors late hours of the night (often but not daily). no recycling option for trash, let alone compost. Advice to landlord: propery owner owns 94 buildings, many with thousands of 311 complaints. seems overstretched and understaffed, unable or unwilling to provide basics for habiltability like heat during heating season”

— 245 HAWTHORNE STREET · Brooklyn“Unit E7 Pros: The renovated apartments in this building look nice. Stainless steel appliances, nice walnut floors, updated bathrooms that highlight the prewar aesthetic. The apartments are also relatively spacious (if you're living alone). The super is very friendly and responsive. Cons: The apartment I stayed in received very little light. And because there was a wall put up in order to market the apartment as a two-bedroom, any light coming in from the windows didn't really reach the kitchen area. The building itself is quite dirty/smelly and there are LOTS of bugs: cockroaches of all sizes, flies, and bedbugs. The trash is taken out everyday, but you can still see cockroaches and flies in each of the trash rooms. People smoke inside the building in the hallway, leaving cigarette butts. Advice to landlord: Hire an exterminator to come every month to treat the building!! The hallways/lobby should be mopped more frequently.”
