“Unit 14 Pros: So close to the park, Greenmarket, and Nitehawk! It's a walk up though so if you're on the top floor be prepared for that. It'll help keep you in shape at least. Noise was a concern with the nearby hospital but even during the pandemic it was actually fine as the ambulances arrive on 7th street. Evening shift changes around midnight on the other hand could be annoying as hospital staff lingered outside chatting, often with music playing from their cars for 30+ minutes. The school and church across the street was never an issue either. It's a really pleasant block with perfect park access. Noise inside the building though was minimal with nice pre-war construction. Landlord's son was always responsive via email. Cons: The building may have been upgraded since we lived there but the lobby/stairwell areas could feel dirty. The trash areas could also get messy but as expected with buildings of these sizes and era. Rats did jump out of the trash can on a couple occasions — certainly another way to get your heart moving. More concerning was two robberies of top floor units. Cameras were installed after this but the roof door had to remain unsecured due to fire safety. I believe the robbers entered via fire escape windows anyway. Police said this was happening all over Park Slope at the time. Also experienced some package theft. Too many people letting randoms enter after them.”
— 567 6 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: As an introduction to Park Slope, you can't get any better than this building (unless you're on PPW, that is). Live in extremely close proximity to some of the best restaurants in NYC and Prospect Park Cons: Heating occasionally comes on about a month too early (while its still hot out) Advice to landlord: Maybe be a little faster answering emails”
— 567 6 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: I lived in a 1bed/1bath apartment in this building and loved how spacious it was. The picture for the listing matched the actual unit, and all the appliances worked consistently throughout my ~2 years living there. Cons: There were roaches in the apartment that would appear every summer. I did have people come in for pest control, but in the end the only thing that seemed to work is putting out glue traps.”
— 573 6 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 4 Pros: Neighbors are normal and mostly quiet Cons: Management can be very slow and unresponsive to issues, no matter how critical”
— 567 6 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Location is the only pro, and it's what you'll pay for here. One block away from Prospect Park is ideal, but it will cost you financially, in quality of life, and in the loss of your sanity in this building. Cons: PESTS: Resident of NYC for 15+ years and never dealt with pest problems like these. There is a full rat infestation in the basement/side lot. Don't think about storing your property in the "storage units" in the basement unless you look forward to your stuff being covered in rat feces. Cockroaches will undoubtedly join the party. And I'm not talking about the small ones; I'm talking about the huge, fist-sized ones with no shame. They will prance out in front of you and parade their complete disregard for survival because they are so pervasive. Garbage management (lack thereof) exacerbated the issue. It was truly disgusting. THEFT: If you are not home 24/7, prepare to have your packages ripped open and stolen and spend chunks of your time and money trying to get refunds or filing police reports. If you don't mind a little package mischief from time to time, then prepare to have your security deposit interest stolen illegally by the owner after you move out. POOR MANAGEMENT: The building is managed by chaos alone. God forbid you need any maintenance done here or you get locked out, it will be a struggle, and it will cost you. While the newer renovations look sleek, it's all done with poor craftsmanship and cheap materials. After an electrical fire and hurricane flood in which water was literally pouring into the building, there was very little care, concern, or support expressed toward tenants from the landlords and super during those times. Moving out? The owners will hire the most insufferable broker who will impede on your right to occupy the space. Want to pay rent? Prepare to time travel back to 1980 and write physical checks. Renters: Take photos of everything when you move in and after you move out because these owners play dirty and feign ignorance of the law when the law is there to protect you as a tenant. Don't say you weren't warned. Advice to landlord: Get a new gig because this one isn't it for you.”
