“Pros: In the heart of the village Cons: Had a mouse... And a whole nest of rats outside”
— 418 EAST 9 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 2w Pros: I would say nothing Cons: -Walls are paper thin so you can hear every neighbor on every floor -MASSIVE issues (leaks, mold, etc..) that were ignored for months”
— 312 EAST 83 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 4A Pros: It's in a great location. Cons: It is horrifically overpriced considering there are no amenities to this building, unless you pay for one of the renovated apartments (but even then, you have to contend with walking into sewage that leaks in from the front door). The intercom breaks all the time, leaving many of us stranded outside until a tenant from inside the building could let us in. The water is brown every other week and property management consists of repainting the walls every other day, so have fun getting to your apartment without scraping your shoulder with a coat of fresh paint. The property owners act like they're in the mafia and threaten you and your roommates unless you contend to do what they say--a big red flag is they only ever wish to speak over the phone (please document everything in an email, trust me). This is a horrible building managed by equally horrible people, and although the location is enticing, it is simply not worth it. Advice to landlord: Get a real job, loser.”
— 418 EAST 9 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Would not have signed this lease if I had been aware of how poorly this place is managed Cons: Dirty, lots of issues with appliances (combo washer dryer is terrible) and pests and management was extremely unresponsive. Both roaches and mice found in third floor apartment. Rent increase is nearly 10% on an apartment that is already poor value. Virtual doorman was left broken for nearly a month with no way to let people in. Have nothing good to say about this place. Live anywhere else in the east village. You will regret signing here”
— 418 EAST 9 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Very clean building, well maintained, nice supers, amazing location! Cons: Sometimes management takes a while to respond to maintenance requests and you have to keep bugging them to get people to come fix it.”
— 418 EAST 9 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: In unit w/d, large living area Cons: One bedroom has a window that looks into an air shaft”
— 312 EAST 83 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 2w Pros: - BEAUTIFUL apartment - Quiet and well located for commuting (walkable to many large employers, as well as to Q / 4 / 5 / 6), as well as for day to day activities and adventures - Dishwasher and washer / dryer in unit Cons: Landlord / building management company is not willing to negotiate lease renewal, and is not always responsive to maintenance requests.”
— 312 EAST 83 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Clean, updated, responsive Cons: Some cockroaches but monthly terminator visits, over heated.”
