“Unit Floor 3 Pros: There was literally nothing good about this building other than its proximity to Barclays Cons: When the boiler was working, it could reach 90 degrees. When it wasn't, it could go down to 45. State of furnishings and appliances were abysmal. Thin walls meant you could hear everything everywhere. Intercom never worked. Literally everything was garbage.”

“Pros: Location, small building, private Cons: Very loud when in a street facing room, they put garbage for multiple buildings in the space in front of ours and every week would be a mountain of garbage, there was no regular exterminator- I asked the landlord when one would come and he said he would only call one if I had a problem, He would respond if anything was wrong with the apartment but never actually fix anything, he owns the entire block of buildings and is going to knock them all down as soon as he can force all the rent stabilized tenants out, he illegally kept part of my security deposit Advice to landlord: Treat tenants like human beings”

“Pros: The neighbors were nice and the building was fairly quiet. It’s an older building but everything worked okay. Cons: You can hear people from the street like the windows are open even when they’re closed The heat is too high from the radiators The landlord will respond when you contact him but won’t actually fix anything He will keep your security deposit The building is going to be demolished and he didn’t tell anyone before moving in”

“Pros: Location is really excellent. A few blocks from Atlantic Avenue and you can get basically anywhere on the 9 trains that go there. Plus LIRR which was great for getting to the airport on the express. Food in the neighborhood was great. Tons of options. Barclays center right there and BAM was awesome. Landlord, while not very conversational or present, was very responsive and did take care of problems when asked. Heat was actually very good as they installed a new system my 2nd year in there. Cons: The actual apartment is a bit of a dump to be honest. The whole building is literally over 100 years old. The floors are COMPLETELY uneven. Like I’m talking 3 inch wood blocks to level off furniture. Hard to believe honestly. Bathroom ceiling leaked pretty wicked every 8 months to a year. (I lived there for 4 years. They did patch it up but never actually fixed the root of the problem ever. It just continued to happen over and over. Had a mouse in there on a few occasions. Roaches were pretty gnarly for about 2 years and then didn’t see any for a while. Overall this building is old as hell, there’s better options out there but it’s a great location and that’s really the only reason you’d want to live here. Advice to landlord: Not a whole lot could be done outside of a massive gut renovation to this building but for what it is, its a place to sleep and be in a cool neighborhood .”
