“Unit 2 Pros: I lived in this building for 7 years with different roommates throughout the seasons. It was a 3 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment. The price of our apartment hardly went up as long as we continued the lease. The landlords were pretty elderly so they were old school — meaning that they only wanted checks and they printed out our lease and gave us carbon copies. They hired a newer younger gentleman to help with building management, which was nice. Overall I had a very positive experience living there. Cons: They take a while to do fixes on your apartment to make sure you really need it, so stay persistent yet kind and professional and know your tenant rights. Advice to landlord: Would recommend a window cleaning once a year :)”

“I want to express my utter disappointment in Hannah and her “professionalism” very rude and I suggest everybody to look elsewhere. Terrible management and kindness skills. Such a shame a great location and property with such poor manager. Pathetic and just sad.”

“I just moved into Aalto57 yesterday, and it is awesome. George and Hannah with the leasing office are fantastic. They are super nice, responsive, and made my move a lot less stressful. The rest of the team at the building are also so great - so nice and happy to help with anything. Can’t wait to live here.”

“I was a short term resident in May 2021 and loved my stay. The apartment and common areas were spotless and the staff were friendly and helped me with local recommendations. I had a minor issue with the washer/dryer in the unit and the problem was solved very quickly. The residents' lounge is a great amenity and I used it regularly. The building is located close to a variety of restaurants, drycleaning, and there is a Whole Foods Market around the corner, which was very convenient. Would stay here again and highly recommend.”

“I love this building, amenities, neighborhood and, in particular, the staff. My wife and I had the unfortunate circumstance of being caught in the Covid-lockdown in San Francisco (our full-time permanent residence) for many months and then found ourselves in the complex situation of moving from our Aalto 57 part-time apartment while being 100% remote. I want to publicly thank George Kefalogiannis for his personal attention to detail and very professional follow-through on helping me schedule and handle all the logistics of move-out and cleaning. Hannah was also of great assistance as necessary. I can truly say this difficult challenge would not have been accomplished without George's personal attention. Separately, Aalto 57 is a fabulous building in a spectacular location and I'm very much looking forward to our moving back when the pandemic allows. Until then, best wishes and a heart-felt thank you to all the staff... Sincere best regards, Michael Bealmear”

“Sometimes it becomes noisy outside midnight due to alarms of cars or engine noise of garbage trucks. Other than that, it is really nice area. I would be grateful if I could use the gym as soon as possible.”

“Reduce monthly rent for tenants who have been living in the building for years with little complaints. I see many new tenants coming in to the building with noisy children who run around etc and that just drives the quality of the building down. Additionally, management shouldnt be spending tons of money on new furniture for replacing the already new furniture in the resident lobby when there are zero to little amenities, one doorman on duty at a time (other buildings with less rent per month even have two doorman!!), and no mail room assistance (my mail never goes out until weeks later at a time). Also, why is management taking away weekly yoga?! This is just ridiculous. After change of ownership, I have not enjoyed living in this building.”

“Management is an absolute disaster. This building is a mess - flooded basketball court that went unfixed (that looks nothing like the picture); marked-up walls, dirty elevators; dirty lobby; doormen that are 1/2 doorman; 1/2 porter; "resident manager" who shows up at 12 pm every day and is rude to people who call her; lazy doormen who horse around all day and don't do any actual work; floors that are never vacuumed; package room that looks like Hurricane Katrina and constant lobby advertisements that are worse than a dorimitory Stay far, far away.. Clssic bait and switch operation”

“Once management switched over to Rose, the building took a significant turn for the worse. Lobby is a filthy mess, elevator constantly brakes, porters are largely very lazy and the number of doormen was reduce from 2 to 1 - leading to safety issues. Haven't put a coat of paint on the common area walls in over two years. Floors are never vacuumed”

“The noise in this building is extremely disruptive. They are doing construction in the building and there is a continuous drilling. From 9 am to 5 pm, every day of the week, you will hear at a very loud level drilling and banging. The noise means that no one could sleep/nap (if you have a baby or a toddler , seriously stay away from this building). The building has several spaces for rent for commercial activities so the chances that the drilling and the banging will stop soon are minimal. We have been hearing this noise since we moved, almost a year ago. The noise came from the construction of an american bank's office on the ground floor of the building. The drilling is so loud that you have the impression that they are working in our apartment even if we are several floors above de construction ground. Now another working site started inside the building at another floor. So at least another year of loud noise.”

“Aalto 57 building porter, -------------, was terminated from Nomad apartment building,10 East 29th Street NY, NY in relation to a grand larceny case on 10/1/16. Police report #07517: NYPD 13th precinct. On 10/1/16, my 1BD apartment at 10 East 29th Street, was ransacked of both valuable and sentimental items. Upon investigation, I was shown elevator video feed linking our building porter, ------------- to the crime. Building management forwarded this video evidence to the NYPD and immediately ------------------. The missing items included in the police report: MacBook, cell phone, Mercedes car key, two pieces of art work, and a small amount of cash. As confirmed by our building super, a staff-only access key was used by Alfonso to enter my apartment. I reluctantly agreed not to press charges upon assurance that ------------- was permanently terminated from the building. Apparently there is no registry for fired building employees and he has since resurfaced at Aalto 57. On November 28th, 2017 I informed the Aalto 57 management of this entire situation. Aalto 57 management informed me that "this is a union issue so it's an involved process to fire him." Alas, ---------- still employed at Aalto 57. I feel morally obligated to review this building accordingly as to hopefully prevent any further victims. If you've had any items gone missing, I encourage you to call police and reference my case number.”

“The building employees are great. The location is wonderful-located right on top of wholefoods. The construction that is being done for over a year INSIDE of the building is awful! We literally complain every single time we are woken by incredibly loud drilling. Its torture. The drilling starts as early as 6am and ends around 6pm- NONSTOP! One of the reasons we moved into the building was for the soundproof windows but we didn't actually know the real noise would be coming from within the building! I refrained from writing reviews but again, today we were woken by drilling!!! We moved in over a year ago. Tried to wait it out. No one warned us about all of the construction that doesn't look like it'll be done anytime soon. We are unable to enjoy our apartment because we have to leave. Its a shame. I can't work from home, I can't have guests over, and I can't drown out the drilling by watching TV or listening to music. The building management is really nice and agrees the noises should stop but doesn't actually offer a solution that works. Every solution offered (drilling to start at 8am and not 6am, locking the construction workers out before 8am) is only implemented for a few days, and then the drilling starts early again. If anyone wanted to rent here, I'd say wait a few years until they get their contractors out of there.”

“I am gravely disappointed with the exceptionally poor quality of the workmanship. A truly eye opening weakness. I had a 15 point list of broken items in a brand new apartment. This should never be the case. In light of these flaws the building is vastly overpriced and will not last long in the marketplace.”
