“Pros: Wonderful neighbors, great neighborhood, clean building. And rent stabilized units! Cons: New management started in August 2023. Implemented new policies like reducing laundry hours to 9-5 when most people work. Locked access to people’s individual storage units, which was then escalated to City Council who stepped in to support the tenants. When tenants started to complain about the overall management, including putting a sign on the elevator, the management retaliated by shutting the elevator down for 3 weeks right before Christmas and a little past new years. They also called the cops on the tenant that put up the sign. Over 6 NYPD officers came aggressively to investigate the sign on the elevator. Our building has many elderly tenants and families with newborns on the higher floors, so those few weeks without the elevator was extremely difficult. We currently have only 2/5 dryers working in the laundry room for a building with 60 units, but management says it’s not their job to fix it. They also put up an unsafe scaffolding, and shortly after there was a fire in the back of our building. Management has been quiet about the cause - but if it was started by a tenant we all would’ve faced the consequences by management. Advice to landlord: We are a building filled with working class families. We don’t want trouble. We just want working facilities available at a reasonable hour. We like the cleanliness, Antonio is great. Please stop retaliating when tenants have valid complaints.”
— 252 74 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 2F Pros: Really nice original touches like archways and floors. Always warm enough. Great neighbors for the most part. Monthly pest control available. Cons: The building sold to someone who replaced the super with someone who doesn’t speak and English at all. Every day he pours bleach all over the sidewalk and wastes huge amounts of water rinsing it off. Obviously he thinks he’s combating the dog pee smell. I’ve tried multiple times to explain to him that bleach will not eliminate that smell and he needs an enzymatic cleanser that’s formulated specifically for urine but he doesn’t understand a word I’m saying. The water bill must be astronomical. Also I heard from someone on the sixth floor that the elevator was broken for several weeks with no word on when it will be fixed. Seems like the new owners are a step down unfortunately. Definitely needed to crack a window in the winter because the heat is too efficient, and needed a humidifier. Antique floors are beautiful but can be very creaky. Advice to landlord: Your super is wasting thousands of gallons of water a year rinsing down the sidewalk every day. Please get him some enzymatic cleanser instead of bleach. It’s much more effective and you won’t need to waste a ton of water doing nothing.”

— 252 74 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The super and his family have been here for years, and they take immaculate care of the building. The owners- Bronstein Properties- care a lot about their tenants and offered rent delay during COVID. The neighbors are amazing and everyone is like [distant] family. Cons: Tiny kitchens. Mold accrues in the tiny bathrooms easily and there is not much you can do about it. Advice to landlord: Very happy! We love it.”
