“Pros: The super is good Cons: Landlord was hard to deal with. Can hear everything from people upstairs. Insane rat problem in the basement. Elevator is constantly down.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Quiet, nice views, good lobby, great location Cons: Landlord never fixed anything, several hidden fees associated with brokers and landlord, super didn't have the right key to get into my building the entire time I lived there, some packages were stolen Advice to landlord: Don't nickel and dime tenants”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 4K Pros: Location, clean lobby, quiet Cons: Had to deal with a mice, once the hole was clogged it was fine.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 5L Pros: The management is great, but the unit really depends on who is the landlord. I saw two water bugs the entire year I was there, so it's a clean area. Cons: The building is a Co-op so there are additional application fees and they cap how long you can stay there. It's near a small park so you will hear people playing pickle ball on the weekends.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Convenient location for walking and commuting Cons: Rented a unit for several years and had rat problems.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Nice building with a clean lobby. Cons: Huge mouse problem! I have lived here less than two years and caught over 10 mice myself. I see them running around my apartment everyday. Pest control comes once every few months and puts down sticky traps but it does nothing.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 5N Pros: - location - elevator - moderate prices Cons: - creepy laundry room - dated - small bedrooms”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Has all the amenities and the unit I’m in is clean. Cons: Mice infestation. Landlord/Owner is slow to respond and takes advantage of renters.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 4K Pros: Laundry in unit, location, luminosity Cons: Footsteps noise, rarely mouse issue fixed by cloging a hole Advice to landlord: More for pest control and sound insulation”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great building with perks including elevator, laundry on site, beautiful lobby. The super and his wife are kind and very responsive to concerns. The entrance is protected by 2 locked doors, and the intercom system to enter connects to your phone. Cons: Bugs and mice exist here (as in any NYC building) — and are not extremely well managed. I see them frequently in the basement, and every six months or so I’ll have an issue with a roach or a mouse and need to scour/bomb/trap my apartment. The building has also had frequent leaks that are stressful at times, as I have had 2 leaks in my apartment from outside sources. Advice to landlord: Take more care of pests”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Elevator, new mail locker storage in basement Cons: There are occasional rats. Super live in building is slow to respond or hard to get in contact with via phone and email. Advice to landlord: Thanks for the improvement with the basement package storage. Helpful during those stealing phases in the building.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: The supers are extremely friendly, but busy people with this and other buildings to work. The location is great and nice to have an elevator Cons: There is a lot of noise that comes from the building behind. It is a loud band that practices almost every night for hours, and no, they’re not good. Advice to landlord: Building is great the light fixtures could use an inside dusting in the halls.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great building in Murray Hill Cons: Sometimes problem with pests in basement or noise from neighbors moving in and out.”
— 229 EAST 29 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Nice lobby, secure package room, laundry in building Cons: Super is unresponsive, Does not respond to any texts or calls. You are way better off going to a different building, no reason anybody needs to deal with this. Looks like there is an unmanaged mice problem. Really wish I knew all this before hand. Nice building but not nice enough to deal with how annoying it is to live here. Advice to landlord: Get a new super.”
