— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Amazing location, large apts, cheap for area Cons: No laundry, very old building, street noise, rats always out front”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Fun neighbors, large apartments Cons: Management is not responsive, lots of leaks, bad hearing Advice to landlord: Better supervision”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: loft like atmostphere Cons: owners "upgrading" building and losing character Advice to landlord: stop trying to make the building look like a condo”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: The location is fantastic. So many stores and restaurants nearby. High ceilings and friendly neighbors. The exposed brick is beautiful and the rooftop is a big plus. Cons: People are getting sick due to the amount of mice droppings and pest issues. This would not be a problem if the landlord were responsive at all. Calls and texts go unanswered and they only talk to us when its about paying rent. Our health and the cleanliness of the building is not their priority. Even when we moved in they did not paint or clean from the previous tenants. The walls are also super thin. We can hear our upstairs neighbors so clearly, it's like they are in our apartment. Advice to landlord: Listen to your tenents and address issues before people start getting sick”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Unit 3H Pros: Amazing location, parties on the roof, good for groups of roommates Cons: It's just raw, bare bones. Heat is so loud and powerful Advice to landlord: Be kind, re-do heating pipes”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Great location. Huge space. Cons: Noisy neighbors, rude landlord, rodents.”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Views, location, rooftop Cons: Noise, mice, pests Advice to landlord: Take care of the pests”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Good location nearby Bedford. Cons: Land lord is pretty horrible to work with. He does not speak good English. Tenants do not care about Garbage management and will leave trash open in the hallways. Walls are extremely thin so you can hear everything in the other units/halls. Rooftop is an absolute mess with broken glass everywhere. The land lords don't want to put any money into this building. Advice to landlord: Invest in your building and make it cleaner.”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Lots of space in a great location, Amazing Super Cons: Noise from multiple daycares in building (4), Noise from no insulation and fake walls, Noise from heating system that goes unmaintained, Pests (mice and cockroaches), Rent increase every year 4% (Trying to keep rent prices high in order to sell building), No response from management for maintenance issues Advice to landlord: Do a better job everywhere”
— 130 NORTH 5 STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: -Size of some of the apartments is unbeatable for the location. -Proximity to the L train at Bedford. -Large roof with great views of Manhattan Cons: -building contains numerous lofts that are daycare/preschools -none of the lofts walls or ceilings have been insulated, so noise is a consistent unbearable problem -building consistently has problems with rodents and insects -intercom/buzzer is never working -packages are routinely stolen or opened near the entrance -ceilings consistently leak water or debris from other apartments -building contains Lead paint -hallways are consistently filled with screaming, running children -there is a Jewish prayer house on one floor that consistently attracts random guests -The entrance, hallways of the building are often piled with garbage -landlords are generally unresponsive for maintenance concerns and consistently raise the rent each year. -many units have poor electrical work which has often lead to fires -Electric bills are typically very high in these converted units -floors are old and have not been maintained and often lead to large, painful splinters Advice to landlord: Spend some money insulating the walls and tin ceilings to make these units inhabitable. Clearly state to new tenants, the existence of numerous day care centers in the building Fix the intercom Do more to control the problem with rodents and pests Hire an electrician to ensure that each unit is properly wired and that rooms have outlets”
