“Pros: Only like the location Cons: Small, unreliable shower water pressure and temperature, outdated kitchen and bathroom fixtures, terrible owners Advice to landlord: Be more professional and responsive.”

“Pros: Great neighborhood, lots of restaurants nearby. Building is on a quiet street, despite having a bus thoroughfare. Cons: Landlord never answers, management company never picks up the phone. Place covered in roaches after a storm because basement floods. They don’t even bother bringing in a real exterminator. Neighbors even told me to watch out. Advice to landlord: Actually take care of your tenants.”

“Pros: Everything outside this building is great. The neighborhood is wonderful. For being on 81st street, the busses are pretty quiet and most people are generally quiet outside despite it being a pretty happening area with restaurants and bars down the block on Amsterdam and Broadway. The outside of the building is up kept somewhat, and the buzzers worked. Cons: Everything else. Cockroach infested. Mold. Cracked walls walls, ceilings, and broken pipes. Broken fridge and sink. Both landlord and management dodge phone calls, and still try to charge a lot of money for apartments because of the area. Will offer to “fix the problem” and then just slap on a new coat of paint. The roaches still come. The mold still comes back. Beware. You’ll have 100 6-legged roommates within a week of moving in, and the owner will dodge calls from 311. This is just my experience, but I was greeted the first day when moving in by other tenants (who were just moving out) with a “Good luck. You picked the wrong building to move into.” Clearly, I wasn’t the only one who had a bad experience with this building and it’s management. Advice to landlord: Renovate the basement and actually clean up the building. The cockroaches come because the basement was never sealed, and the opening in the front of the building leaks water. Fix the pipes too, and answer phone calls and emails from tenants who just want a semi-normal renting experience.”
