“Pros: It’s a nice and quiet family friendly building. It’s a good location next to the train. The Super lives in the building but he works a second job so it’s 50/50 getting a hold of him. Cons: There’s BEDBUGS in the building which they didn’t disclose during the lease signing. I was covered in bedbug bites all over my body. They send out pest control who has close relation with the landlord that would gaslight me for months saying it’s cockroaches. I had them lay sticky traps as proof. When the pest control returned, he tried taking away all the sticky traps that captured the bedbugs( not knowing I had already taken pictures of the bedbugs). I had to threaten the landlord that I will report them to the city to get out of my lease, They’re didn’t refund my rent for the 4 months that I couldn’t stay there.”

— 1004 UNION STREET · Brooklyn“Pros: Good location, friendly and helpful management company, friendly neighbors and super, building is relatively well-maintained Cons: Can get loud sometimes with sounds echoing in the lobby and hallways, but the main issue that drove me out was bedbugs. Upon scanning the violations in this app, it seems like there have been bedbug issues with that unit (3I) since 2016. I “got rid of them” only for them to return two months later, which makes me think they’re either coming from a neighbor or they’re living in the walls. To building mgmt’s credit, they were responsive and sent exterminators whenever I asked, but landlord exterminators tend to cut corners and they never told me that unit had a recent history — they didn’t blame me exactly, but they implied it was likely or possible that I brought them in. Advice to landlord: You might need to hire someone who’s going to do a more thorough job if this issue hasn’t abated yet. It’s unfair to the tenants who have to suffer in those conditions and can’t afford to hire better-quality service”
