Pros: This is a beautifully preserved historic building on a landmarked block just steps from Riverside Park. In addition to the stunning Beaux Arts architecture, the building boasts a historic plaque designating it as the former home of the famed writer and poet Dorothy Parker. As far as Upper West Side charm and historical significance, it doesn’t get better! The building was privately owned for decades by a landlord who cared deeply about it and its tenants. He kept the rent reasonable and retained tenants for years, if not decades. Everything about it was well-maintained by the attentive super, and the neighbors were respectful and pleasant. I was very happy to make my home here—it was a dream. Cons: Unfortunately, the building was recently sold and the new owners are having all the tenants cleared out —many of whom have called it home for over 20 years and have now been priced out of the neighborhood. It has been a very sad affair, especially since this type of thing is happening all over the city.

Unit 2E Pros: The landlord is friendly and responsive. He lives in the building and cares about the maintenance of the building. The super is also great, and this building is the most well-maintained place I've ever lived in. If any issue arises, you can be sure that it will be handled quickly! Cons: My unit got very hot when the heat was turned on. It looks like the grates to access the radiators were painted over so I couldn't adjust any valves to try to cool it down. But it was never a huge deal, so I never contacted the landlord or the super about it. Better too hot than too cold in the winter!

Pros: Well functioning, clean hallways, nice landlord. Trash was constantly emptied. My unit had a lot of windows and tall ceilings. Would rent here again if opportunity arose. Cons: N / a.
