Nearly all of the positive reviews for this complex are fake. Just by glancing at the full list of reviews almost all of the positive ones were written between late June and July 2010, often with several reviews written in a single day. That explains the "73% recommended." And most of these have the same format with 3 short sentences and generic usernames like "prettygirl15." How much contempt does the mgmt have for their tenants? They can't even put in a half-assed job to lie convincingly. I became suspicious immediately after spotting a craigslist post for this complex - you don't often find a 1-bedroom for $1795 on the Upper West Side, let alone one with an elevator and fitness center: <http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/abo/2910395193.html>. Just a basic amount of research will reveal that this Pite is a hellhole and that the mgmt is incredibly dishonest. don't rent here under any circumstances.

i lived here for 18 months. this Ppot is a sh*thole. You've got mice, the walls are thin, the area isn't safe. Woorest of all though is the mgmt company...they are dishonest and steal your packages. they also demand "key money" before moving in. in other words, after you sign your lease and have paid a few months rent security deposit, you have to pay an extra couple of thousand dollars just to get the key. don't MOVE IN HERE!!!

Please read this if you want an honest review. I ve lived in other multiple apartment complex s with disappointment until i found 63 West and i have to say i love it. Before the staff may have been to my lesser liking but as my stay gets longer I kind of know them better. They are always on the spot whenever a problem arises and ready to resolve the issue. If you are looking for a good apartment complex your search is over.

My Anit is nice, clean and comes with great amenities. The staff are great and get things fixed fast. Noise and bugs has not been a problem in my unit. I love it here.

this place is ----! the managers a huge ------ and on top of that, everything breaks so easily because they use such cheap materials. the walls are extremley thin so you can hear everything your neighbors saying or doing, which is quite awkward at times. On top of that the stench in the hallways is beyond belief. I have so many bad things to say but such little time to say them so ill make it brief, if a broker ever mentions to meet you at 244 West 64th street or mentions that address at all, tell them you value your sanity or just get a new broker who knows better then to take you to 63 west.

I just finished a 3 year residency here. I lived in two different apartments. The new mgmt is even better than the old. Any repairs I needed were addressed imediately. The best feature is the Gym. It's FREE... as an avid runner I loved having a treadmill when it was raining or during the winter. I needed a guarantor and it was no problem... Easy approvals. There's always someone at the front desks. Yeah they take some time off to go get cofee but they handle your packages when you're not home. Downsides, Apartments are small. I am sure you could find larger by going to the outer boroughs or Harlem, but here you get to be in the middle of it all. The elevators I heard do have some issues, but the building I lived were fine. If it did breakdown it was fixed right away. I would reccommend this to my friend who are students and just starting out in manhattan.

I found out soon after I moved in that a child had been shot and killed right by the playground that you have to walk through to get to the apartments (I saw the memorial signs everywhere). Drug dealers and addicts are a regular fixture and You've got ALWAYS cops patrolling because of some violent dispute going on. I've seen a gang of women jump another woman and I've also seen street rats jump a couple at night. I would never lie and tell anyone to live here because of the safety issue alone. The apartments are Sittle and the elevators never ever work. Also, I found a homeless person who entered my Bacility through the roof (unlocked doors that are supposed to remain closed) and the mgmt did nothing to fix the safety issue. The staff are hard to communicate with - language barrier - and the male staff are all perverts. The female staff had attitudes and were hard to track down when you had issues. Stay far away from this hell on earth! The rest of the area is so nice, don't let this horrible patch of the city ruin it for you. Pets were not supposed to be allowed, but I saw them urinating regularly around the front doors and could smell the cats stuck illegally inside.
