So number one there is nothing luxurious about this complex so the description is misleading. I still enjoyed it for what it was though; that is until I renewed my lease only to discover they would be demolishing the complex and putting me out on the street. The worst part about it is I cannot get any information on when this will take place or when they want residents to move. I understand why they would demolish this complex but I do not understand why they would leave residents in the dark about it. I had to ask to even confirm the rumors, I assume they wouldn't have said anything if the residents weren't all talking about it. On top of that there has been no offer of financial retribution like a discounted rent relative to how many months they are voiding on your lease, or waving certain fees like the trash valet and/or pet rent. It is just bad business in my opinion. I am not one to complain normally and I am not going to get on here and bash the place for disrepair or anything because I came in knowing the property was aging and the rent is low for the area but when my questions and concerns are met with "We don't know sir, but we will let you know when we do." How can I plan my next move like this? I will never give Greystar or Laramar managed complexes my business again. This just is not how you treat people. The cherry on top is I suspect they are going to rebuild something that is luxurious and expensive here and that is the reason they are not concerned with the state of the current tenants. I could give a list of amenities that this complex is lacking but it would only justify the demolition, plus I was willing to deal with the aging property for the price, location and pet friendly community.

I have lived here for almost thirteen years and have nothing but nice things to say about Memorial Club! Both the Memorial Club Management and Larimer Management has been spectacular! SO PROFESSIONAL and I have never ever had a problem with them fixing things for me. It is quiet here, serene, and I love it. They keep the laundry room real clean and the gym is really cool! I love all the trees and you can sit quietly and hear the birds singing and is very relaxing. I love it here..they have been very good not only to me but many other tenants I have talked to. They are well built and when hurricane Ike came through the property hardly had any damage at all! VERY solidlly build!

They are tearing down half of these apartments December 2013 and the other half May 2014. Do not know exact dates but renter beware! I would not have moved in if I knew this information. I really like this place, it's cheap for the area and I haven't had any major issues. My one main concern is that there have been rumors that they are tearing down the apartment. The front desk staff confirmed another resident that these rumors are true when asked but there has been no official announcement. They are currently keeping residents in the dark.

I have been living here for almost two years and previously lived here. It is cheap for the area, and it is a really great area. So here are the pros and cons of my stay: Pros: - The Area, is just perfect. - Office staff is really nice, they take the time to get to know you and overall are very professional. Cons: - Roach Infestation. Now this is Houston, and there are roaches everywhere during the summer. However, these apartments have a major problem with American Roaches in the hallways/trees and German Roaches in the apartments, sometimes the American Roaches will venture into the apartments. I understand that this is a very complex problem for an old building such as this complex (build in the 60's), and a lot of the control for this depends on the residents, but this problem is really getting out of control. There are wide spaces between the piping of appliances and sinks and the walls that allow for roaches to move into the apartments, and the kitchen sink area has a wide area on top of it which is open and leads into the inner side of the wall that is a major access point for roaches. In my case, the pest control company has been at least a dozen times in my apartment(not exaggerating), to the point that I am taking matters in my own hands and spending a lot of money on my own pest controls measures, however the problem continues. Maintenance staff has not responded to my pleas to close at least the spaces between the walls and the pipes even after numerous office visits. This is by far, the biggest reason of why I will seek another complex when my contract expires. .- Gym: Small, very few and old machines, some of them do not work properly. .- Noise: The walls are thin, you will hear people walking on the hallways. .- Maintenance Staff: The Office staff is really great, the maintenance staff not so much. They take a long time to fix reported problems. I haven't had a such a big problem with parking as other residents have pointed out. Sometimes there is no parking (around 3-4 AM), however you can park in the residential area next to complex without an issue. They did a have a problem with parking last year, however it has gotten much better.

Price for the location is good. Apartment is nothing special but adequate. Staff is nice and helpful. Biggest issue is the internet/TV requirements. While I understand the want to get the small satellite dishes off of the property, requiring the use of Comcast/Xfinity gives them far too great of a compettitive advantage. I was treated like crap by Comcast. ALSO, DIRECT TV WILL INSTALL A MASTER DISC AND REMOVE ALL SMALL DISCS IF THE PROPERTY WOULD JUST SET IT UP!!!!!! Would look way better and give us tenants options. Parking spaces are small and often too tight for a truck.

I've been living here about 2 years and I totally agree with the review from 05/19/2011..which means nothing in that time has improved. The apartments aren't horrible, but they are pretty craptacular. Walls are so thin and windows are drafty that you can hear EVERYTHING, including footsteps of neighbors walking through the main areas. Some neighbors are -------s and talk/laugh/yell loudly at night which makes it impossible to sleep. Parking sucks and they charge for covered parking that's usually only about 2/3 occupied while you have to park in the street. Also the gym is crap, not really anything usable except a treadmill and a stationary bike (everything else is broken and any weights under 40ibs were stolen), but most the point of living there is for Memorial Park anyway. I think they fix really major things decently enough, like if your toilet clogs or your A/C goes out. But most other things like buzzing halogen kitchen lights that won't turn on for two-three minutes, mirrors bevels that constantly fall off, rusty sometimes leaky ceiling, and mold never get fixed. They're given a half---- job at best and that's AFTER you hound them for weeks to get them fixed. (I pointed out mold problems to them and instead of removing that part of the drywall they PAINTED over it). Also seems like the maintenance guys only are interested in coming into your apartment to fix stuff when you're not home which I don't like. If I'm home the whole day, the one hour I step out to do something is when they choose to finally do my maintenance request. Most of the time you try to call for service they don't even bother to pick up the phone, so you have to walk down to the office during biz hours to get a hold of anyone. I've noticed Dwan Samuels the apt manager post here sometimes that they'll rectify problems but they don't. I even stopped washing my clothes in the apartment washateria because every load would have something get snagged and holes would be torn into the fabric. Given all those problems though it is ok priced considering the area. Just over 1k/month for a small 2 bedroom next to Memorial Park is decent. Don't think I'll be renewing though when my lease comes up.

I absolutely hate living in Memorial Club Apartments. I have been there for a little over a month and it has been teh worst move of my life and I have been plagued by nothing but problems. We discovered a roach infestation the day after we moved in. The exterminator has come to spray the apartment twice but the issue still exists. The air conditioner has been broken twice and still does not cool the apartment completely. The windows are not installed well and shake with the wind and they are probably the least efficient windows on the planet. Out living room get a lot of direct sublight in the evenings and the living room is constantly 80 degreese because of it. the office staff is nice, and Norma has been great, but they just need more personnel to handle the large property. Parking is terrible. There is very little visitor parking and if you come home after 10pm it is very unlikely that you will have a parking spot unless you pay $45 for a covered parking spot. If you are looking for a new apartment in this area, please go ahead and pay the additional $200 per month to life in a nicer complex. You will be glad that you did. I can't wait for my lease to be up so I can get out!! 10 months to go.

After living at Memorial Club for a three month period this summer, I have very few good things to say about the complex even though my stay was short. From even before I moved in, the office staff was telling me the wrong things to do, assuring that they would do things that they didn't, and an overall pain to deal with. My roommmate moved in first and actually had to wait two hours after a 1000 mile drive to even get the key even though the office was supposed to be open. This was not the only time that that happened to us. Post move-in, there were issues as well. As a non-smoker, the smoke smell in the apartment permeated my clothes and followed me everywhere I went. Though they said they used some machine to aerate the apartment, once I moved out I still had to spend close to $100 dry cleaning and replacing clothes. Also, there were large tree roaches that took up residence in our apartment. My roommate and I were extremely careful about being clean and took almost excessive measures to prevent bugs from coming in to no avail. The apartments are old and have holes in the piping under the sinks and in the walls that allow the huge roaches inside. To be fair, when I called the maintenance crew in to caulk the hole they did within 3 days and from there the roach problem was eliminated. On the parking front, I never had any problem finding parking. The spots are small but it is not as bad as previous reviews had mentioned. Noise is awful! I have no idea why but Memorial Club seems to ALWAYS be doing construction. Between the construction noise, flimsy walls, ambient street noise, and continual lawn mowing that seems to go on at least several times a week at 8am, it can be very frustrating to sleep. I didn't have a lot of issues with the other tenants making a lot of noise except on weekends, though, and they seemed to be respectful. Grounds are okay... the initial area where they show potential renters is fantastic looking but the pool across the street is not as kept up and the work out room is just a couple of non-working tredmills and your other hotel gym equipment. I never felt unsafe. And, as I mentioned before, the maintenance staff was quick and effective. The thing that really bugs me is how awful their staff is to deal with. They will tell you one thing and then later on demand another to try to fine you. They lie through their teeth and then screen your calls and I was utterly disappointed in how rude and inappropriate they were. Even after I had moved out, they were still slapping on charges and not allowing me to contact them to dispute them. Stay away from these people so you avoid being taken advantage of while paying premium price for shoddy apartments.

This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Since I first moved in I have NEVER had a working oven. Maintenance has left 3 letters that they came in and "fixed" the oven but it has never been fixed. The water pipe that runs through my closet broke and everything in my closet was soaked. They came and "fixed" that too but 6 months later. . I still have a wet and molding wall in my closet that leaks brown water and has stained 8 of my nice button down shirts. My thermostat switch is missing so in order to change the thermostat I have to take the front box completely off. I am a super clean freak and do not keep much food in the place b/c I eat other places and yet I still have roaches and weird bugs all the time. The walls are so thin that I can actually hear my neighbor snore at night. The trash valet that I am forced to pay $18/month for has recently decided to pile up tons of bags of trash and leave it in the parking lot. Sometimes for 2 days. I work 8-7 M-F and since they decided to get rid of the drop box I have to drive 45 min. during my lunch break to drop off rent. On several occasions when I went during lunch the office was locked and nobody answered. The gym has treadmills that are usually not working and the tvs on them have never worked. The "free" wi-fi that was advertised has been turned off as well. When I first moved in my sink and bathtub did not drain. After maintenance failed to fix the problem after several complaints I finally had to pay someone to do it. When you get a package the front office never tells you. I was waiting for a new credit card for weeks when I finally called the credit card company who told me the card had been delivered and signed for weeks prior. The f*%$##ing idiots up there signed for my mail and never told me. For every issue I have had to call the office about they have ALWAYS been rude and never come to fix anything without me making numerous calls. My lease is up at the end of January and I'm so excited!!!! Don't make the mistake I did and move into this crappy --------.

Great location, but....Parking spaces are too small and never any availability..The apartment has limited storage space with older appliances...You must use this off-brand cable company that has connectivity issues...There is a $40 fee to use your credit card to pay your rent online. Dogs are allowed but rarely on a lease as required by management. Phone calls are never returned to renters. Rent fluctuates. Management is friendly. Maintenance issues---security entrances/laundry facilities are never addressesd immediately---takes usually a week or more. If I could have done things differently, I may have kept looking.
