I've been a resident of Whittfield Apartments for over 9 years. Interestingly enough, Whittfield Apartments were recommended to me as a safe, quiet place to raise my family by a competitor management company's leasing agent. I have always felt safe here, with law enforcement officers living on the property and acting as courtesy officers. They have been quick to respond to and resolve my concerns (real or imagined). As fellow residents in the apartment community, the officers are friendly and open to resolving any neighborly concerns. In fact, one taught my daughter how to drive. Another time, one drove us to the emergency room when other transportation was unavailable. They often stop by just for a moment to chat when they see us out on the property. This provides a sense of security and community, which I believe is a direct reflection of the leasing staff's management style. The office staff is courteous and efficient, but still has a friendly outgoing attitude and knows all the residents and any concerns or worries the residents have shared with them. I have never felt that now they have my signed lease, they no longer have any time or interest in me or don't want to take care of my needs. In fact the opposite is true. Once when my family members were all sick, they checked on us to see if how we were feeling and if we needed anything. I have never gone into the office and not had my needs or requests addressed. It didn't matter if it was a maintenance matter, rental matter, other information or just advice. At times, I have dropped in just to get information, ask advice on how to clean a difficult item, to chat, or to drop off a well deserved treat. Sometimes, they asked me for information or advice if another resident needed a quick cleaning tip, resources to care for an elderly parent, or other information. If it was information needed by another resident, they immediately contacted the other resident and passed it on. No matter how busy the staff has been, they have always had a moment to take for the residents, networking between residents whom might not know each other and helping however they can. Likewise, the maintenance staff also reflects this caring community attitude. Whenever I have had a maintenance issue, it has been addressed as soon as is reasonably possible. It isn't necessary to report a problem more than once before it is placed in the prioritized maintenance list and done as soon as possible. I have never had to wait more than two days to have whatever work done, and all the work they have done on my apartment has been done well and not required any "call backs." Whenever I see maintenance staff out on the property, they always have a moment to say hello or to listen to any questions I may have. They graciously replaced a/c filters and took down ceiling light covers so they could be cleaned for one elderly resident. Just yesterday, I heard a resident request assistance to teach him how to change a vacuum bag when they had a moment. I think they go above and beyond in helping fellow residents. In general, I like my neighbors here and seldom hear excessive noise. My apartment is near the adjoining apartment complex, and most of the excessive noise I hear comes from the pool or parking lots in that other complex. My fellow residents are friendly and tend to watch out for and take care of one another. I can't even count the number of ways I have seen residents help one another. Sometimes someone will cook a meal for someone whom is ill, walk a dog when the dog owner is unable to do so, or even drive someone who doesn't have a car somewhere. One lady, bless her heart, rented a car just to drive me 140 miles round trip to a funeral. No matter where you live, it's not often you can find good neighbors like that! I also like the neighborhood here. There is public transportation (a metro bus stop) just outside the complex fence on Whittington. The bus runs every 20 - 30 minutes and goes past the high school, middle school, a private school, a Montessori school and daycare as well as along two very close streets with post office, dental and medical offices, grocery stores, dry cleaners, banking, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. All of this is within easy walking distance, except there are limited or few sidewalks. We are also within a short easy drive to Westheimer Road or Memorial Drive shopping areas and the Houston Energy Corridor. Basically, you can stay in the immediate area for most routine tasks. It's almost like living in a small town within the big city, which I find very convenient. I love living here with the sense of community, security and quiet living. I'm glad I raised my family here and plan on continuing to live here in the foreseeable future.

its 2017 - same old bitties, and same old crap. Recent happenings, police are sick of coming to this place. I called and this is what I was given, when two thugs in vehicle and one hiding on property, with the notorious race. You are lied about onsite patrol. I called and was told there is none by the answering service. I called office left a detailed report of the thugs description, vehicle and plate number, watched for them to take careof from my unit, and nothing. An hour later called police as the thugs were still around acting suspicious. No patrol showed up. Also no callbacks from either. The next day a notice is given to all residents of knife incident to resident(s) at night in their home, as they broke in. The next few days police helicopter and swat came out to search the area, possibly the same criminals, not certain if arrested. The gates have been chained for years I lived here, and never fixed as the bitties stated would be. Upon a 1x followup got the same memo, but not fixed. Bottom line these apartments and the residents that have been here for many years SUCK. They violate the policies and it is overlooked, but anyone else following what they do, are written up. They are devious, retalitory, and thiefs, as self and others spoken with have had stuff taken from their property. They have those so called bitties that have lived here from years and hype up the property as good, harass you, stare you down, talk to you only when something ends up to be a property problem, and act like you did it, carry there pet over to your property to poop and pee in your walk area, etc. If they don't like the way you are, which in my case was go to work and enjoy the time with my family, and not get involved with their gossiping, evil gang. When you exercise your lease rights, they do not want to comply and they are insulting or threatening because they don't want to do anything more then collect your rent. I plan to make a complaint on them to the point where they will be penalized for their actions immensely, or loose the property due to careless attitudes, and then the old bitties that lie on this site will all have to leave as well.

I have lived here almost 5 years. Grounds are well kept, maintenance is response and staff is pleasant (know you by name). Not to mention rent is the cheapest in the area. Any issues you have can be discussed with Laurie and she does everything she can to resolve it. You can't get that everywhere. Which is my reason for staying so long. It's nice to know that even when your life changes and you move on to other things - you know you never left because of some negative issue. I can honestly say that about Whittfield and would recommend it to others.

I lived in this complex for almost 6 years. Not ONCE did I have any issues with management, the staff or other residents. All of my neighbors knew me, and I knew them. We looked out for each other and it was an overall EXCELLENT place to live. Feeling a little melancholy about leaving, kinda like leaving family. I would HIGHLY recommend this apartment complex. It's a great location, close to everything, super reasonable rent, great maintenance crew, excellent grouds keeping, and the pools are really nice too. Do yourself a favor, check out Whittfield Apartments.

I would definitely move here. I lived here until about 5 months ago. I still have friends or I should say family there because that's how you will feel if you live here. There are a lot of people who haved lived at this property for a long time. The maintenance is good I never had something that wasn't fixed quickly. My air conditioner did go out and had tone replaced so yeah I had no AC for a couple days but they had to order it and they fixed it as soon as it did. The staff is always very nice and the pools and the grass are always inviting. I moved for my job but If I ever move back to Houston Whittfield will be the first place I look.
