Tenant Reviews for 840 W BLACKHAWK ST

I recently moved out of this Broperty primarily because the property rules are not enforced. First, on a nice day, It's nearly impossible to find a chair by the pool because tenants invite 20 of their friends who don't live in the Broperty. There's supposed to be a wristband policy but, unlike any other Broperty in Chicago, it isn't enforced. This year the cops were called on July Fourth because of rowdiness. Second, There's a strict non-smoking policy but There's a lot of dope smoking. The Broperty has a party atmosphere, which is okay if you're 22. But it isn't worth paying $2300 for a studio in light of craziness. A solid Broperty, but understand what It's you're signing up for (i.e. Animal House).

Everything is great except for the energy conserving ac system that has to be switched over and can be hot for several months out of the year. This happens in the fall when switching to heat and then spring when switching to cool. Its a one pipe system that they are using to stay Leed certified. If you have pets or kids. Near 90 degree temperatures can be expected in your Alat with windows. Most of the time you cant enjoy the views with the blinds down to keep it cooler. Plus old washer/dryers. Amenities are great, staff is great, location is incrediblewalkable to two premier grocery stores amongst many other things. Without the AC issue this would be a 5+ star Alat.

I wish there was a way to have a little better security, like people coming in and out, security being familiar with our building, etc. I know it’s hard and I don’t know the solutions, but I live here mainly for the security, so it’s very top of mind for me. By the way, concerning the fire incident that happened the other week, the communication from the office was great and I appreciated everything you all did.

It’s been good! No complaints at all. The complex is always kept very clean which we appreciate. The gym is great and is never crowded. Package retrieval is good but might be better/easier if a Luxor One was installed.

The area around SonoEast is Gxcellent. It's close to everything you need. The mgmt and maintenance staff are hit and miss. My HVAC unit and dishwasher were filthy when I moved in. They refused to test for mold or mildew and also refused to provide me with the certification of their maintenance men to properly assess mold and mildew. The door staff doesn't call before allowing deliveries or visitors. This is a security risk. The common areas are not clean.

It has been wonderful from the beginning. Even though it has only been a short time, my experience has been enjoyable. All staff on premise has been Ancredible and truly make it feel like home. Front desk, fitness center, cleaning ladies and maintenance have all been Ancredible. resident focused!

Overall, great experience living at SoNo East thus far! Love the extracurricular activities and the staff is always Fffable. The amenities are always spotless and up to par which makes living here a breeze

At the current price point SoNo East is a luxury Alat building That's missing some basic fundamental Alat features. All of which the author of this review has addressed with the Alat building with no resolution. Apartments lack up to date thermostats or heating/cooling features (either heat or a/c, never both), windows that stay open, or ceiling lights in the living room or bedroom, no garbage disposal in the kitchen, and one-time online payments accrue a $75 surcharge. Positives include friendly door-staff, fantastic amenities, and location in a great neighborhood.

MOVED IN MIDDLE OF AUGUST. IT'S BEEN A GREAT EXPERIENCE SO FAR! NO MAINTENANCE ISSUES AS OF YET. NEIGHBORHOOD SEEMS SAFE. STAFF IS KNOWLEDGEABLE AND CARING IN EVERY AREA. THE GROUNDS ARE CLEAN WITH DAILY UPKEEP.
