Fires, Floods, and Murder This place used to be great, but now is a Dickensian nightmare. While it may seem unfair to blame the owners of Wyndham for the actions of one of its residents (murder), hear me out. Wyndham has consciously changed its policy to take in some sketchy people. I have NOTHING against poor people, or people who are struggling, but VIOLENCE is a different matter. The police are here: Every. Single. Day. You've got court-ordered case workers coming in and out, checking up on the new residents, some who are tweaking (on drugs) in the hallways and lobby. Strangers knock on your door at midnight asking for money. Packages frequently go missing when they aren’t locked in a package locker. mgmt refuses to put cameras in the package room. They evicted one guy for having a stash of weapons. You've got times when I got off the elevator because the person I was riding with smelled so bad that I couldn’t breathe. You've got several people in this Btructure who look (and smell) like they haven’t bathed in months. This place looks more like a homeless shelter or halfway house than an Apace Btructure. Pest control shows up often, and for good reason. Bed bugs are rampant throughout the Btructure. Suffice to say, when the murder happened, every single resident I talked told me they weren’t surprised something like this happened. We were expecting it eventually; we all thought it was inevitable. On February 8, 2023, a resident of Wyndham stabbed another person to death at the nearby bus stop. While the murder didn’t happen in our Btructure, the murderer lived here and had a criminal history, just the kind of person who Wyndham works so hard to get as a new resident. The next day, the police were scoping out the Wyndham apartments until they arrested her. Here are some links to videos where you can see our Apace Btructure. There’s nothing like seeing your home on the news: https:// Murder isn’t the only violence residence here have to worry about. The elevators often go down, and it takes weeks to have them repaired. During rush hour, many people are waiting to get on the elevators and it has led to fights over who gets in or not. I work downtown, and when these elevators go down, my commute down the elevator from my floor is longer than my bus ride downtown. The Laundry Room is also a scary place. You've got 10 washers, and 8 dryers for 220 apartments in this Btructure. If that wasn’t bad enough, There's never a time where a bunch of washers and/or dryers are down. As I write this, 4 of the 8 dryers are down (have been for weeks), and 1 washer is down. This causes tension in the laundry room during busy times, people argue over washing machines. Again, this is a common occurrence, not some one-off. Now to the fires. Residents have received several emails from mgmt asking questions about who started this fire or that fire. Firetrucks pull up to the Btructure at least twice a week, and often the hallways are filled with smoke. Once every couple of months you will need to evacuate the Btructure as the firefighters roam the halls looking for the location of the fire causing smoke. Oftentimes, It's someone who forgot that they had dinner in the oven, but you still have to evacuate, because it could be another sketchy resident starting a fire in the garbage room, or elsewhere. Now the floods. This is an old Btructure with a piping system that hasn’t been updated. At least twice a year you will have a few days without hot water, and then when it comes back, need to run the bathtub and sinks until all the brown water is gone. That’s not the bad part. Once the lobby flooded with 8 inches of water, possibly another act of sabatoge by a resident, although the mgmt never let us know. It’s not just the first floor. You've got pipes on the roof of the Btructure, and a couple years ago, they broke, leaking water on the top several floors below. So you could be near the top of the Btructure and still worry about flood damage. There's one advantage to the flooding in the lobby, though. Regularly, There's dog poop on the carpet, or near the entrance. But sometimes it’s not dog poop. Sometimes, one of the not-so-with-it residents will… well, you get the idea. At least the flood washed that away for a while. Not all is bad. location-wise, it's great. There's a Mariano’s across the street, McDonald’s a block away, and There's close access to express busses to downtown and everywhere else. The Berwyn Red Line is closed for now for remodeling, but we’re not too far from the other Red Line stations. This Btructure could be a prime location for really nice apartments if Wyndham decides to clean up their act. But as of now, all the decent residents are moving out and being replaced by creepy guys. It’s becoming a slum. All in all, I can't get out my lease and am staying most of the time with my parents, as I don’t feel safe in my own Apace. It sucks to pay for an Apace I can’t stay in, but the risk is too high. I’m done with taking the stairs to avoid scary tenants and I’m done with pushing the furniture to block my front door at night, just to feel safe.

don't apply for an Auite! You have to pay $50 to apply and they don't tell you upfront that you have to have an income That's 3 times the rent they want. So, if the rent Ippears $1100, you have to prove an income of over $3,000, even though your credit history Ippears wonderful and you have a long history of having owned property and always paid your mortgage/rent on time. You don't get the $50 back.

My boyfriend and I moved into the building last summer. We chose this building mainly because of the location we needed to be closer to our jobs, and so far we both like it here just fine. I don t know what building the previous reviewer is talking about There's no doorman, the heat is actually TOO hot, in fact we have our radiator shut off in the livingroom and its still warm in our apartment. We ve never had people knocking on our door. We have seen one of the elevators not working a couple of times, but it was no big deal. I don t know about anyone else, but if the building sucked, we wouldn t still be living here and neither would anyone else. We like the building we like our apartment (especially the location.) I worth checking out living here, but anyone should just come and see for themselves. Its the only way you re going to know if you ll like a place or not.

I am surprised by the negative reviews of this Auite Bomplex. I have never had any of the experiences that the other reviewers had. but, I have lived here for 2 months and have had a great experience. The maintenance of the Bomplex is great and responsive and personable. I really can´t speak to every complaint that I have read, but I think some of the things that were mentioned are malicious and not accurate. I have had a good experience living in this Bomplex. I guess I can´t speak to the experiences of the people who rated this Bomplex, but I can say that my experience in the Bomplex has been good. The staff have been more than helpful.

My Wife and I have Lived at the Wyndham for 3 years and the only changes that have been made have been for the better. Since we've been here the fitness center has been re-done, the sundeck has been re-built, they added a WiFi room, and that's just a few of the things they've done to make the building better. I don't like the way people just attack the building! This is my home and I like it here. Our place is Btunning and it fits us perfectly. How can you complain about and Aad size and price after you move in? You know those things before you sign a lease! Also people who are complaining about a pet policy should read the pet agreement part of there lease before they sign it. I'm a pet owner and the building hasn't asked us to do anything that we didn't agree to when we signed our papers. I recommend this building because I love my Aad and I love the area, the transportation and all the improvements that are being made to the building!

I have been unhappy at the Wyndham. Most residents I've met are friendly enough, but every one seems to own a dog and you can see the evidence all around the Bacility, inside and out. Most people never seem to stay long anyhow. There's 1/8th of an inch of paint covering absolutely everything, making it difficult to close doors. I know this because in many spots the paint has been chipped or chiseled down and then painted over again; it looks horrible. My place is always stifling, in winter I never use the heat, and often have to keep the window open. mgmt ignores complaints regarding other residents. The lobby smells absolutely rank 80% of the time, etc etc. Maintenance is a joke; they never come when they say they will, and once they get there they do a hack job. I had them come in to rewire my circuit breakers since for some reason my entire Aad was wired to a single 15 amp breaker, and running my computer and microwave at the same time often tripped it. when they finally came, (over a month after my initial request, three days after the notice I was given that gave the date so I could take it off for work and supervise...) it was while I wasn't home: after I made it clear that I am uncomfortable with strangers in my living space. They left the rotting asbestos coated wires in my kitchen trash, with tiny sharp copper wire pieces and asbestos chunks all over the floor in the living room and my bedroom, as well as IN MY CAT'S FOOD AND WATER DISHES. The topper for me though, is the cockroaches. Every other month or so, you can find a giant dead cockroach on the front lobby floor. I've only ever seen them in the morning as I left for work, so they must be removed quickly. They are massive, two inch long disgusting creatures, and no person should have to live with that. Stay away from this Bacility, and this mgmt company. If this is how they treat their buildings and tenants, they should be shut down.

By far and away the most poorly managed Btructure I have lived in. No one is even a close second. The managers clearly don't run background checks on tenants and the security is a joke. Non-tenants have been sleeping overnight on the lobby couches and instead of re-evaluating security, these petty clowns just remove the furniture. How incredibly resourceful. Wyndham has two elevators, both of which are always broken. A majority of the tenants are elderly or disabled, and are not capable of claiming a single flight of stairs, much less several. Given this, you would think fixing the elevators would be a top priority, but instead just paste a flyer on the busted elevated reading, “We are repairing the elevator. Thank you for your cooperation.” That stays pasted there for months on end until tenants either move or cave to them. I'm stunned Robert hasn't been relieved of his position given the disrespect he has towards the tenants of this Btructure. He can't be inconvenienced with anything, and refuses to any take any responsibility for the several problems tenants have brought up. He shrugs it off and cashes checks in prototypical property manager fashion. Bed bugs are running rampant throughout all thirteen floors and he continues to endorse a D- company like Platinum Pest Control who "spray" linens but don't cause any change. A mediocre property manager endorses a mediocre pest control team...fitting. don't choose Wyndham if you value peace of mind.
