Decent building but has room for improvement in some areas.

7/7/14 This Wilmette Real Estate owned building has basically been on a fast track decline in the past few years since the old husband and wife manager duo retired recently (but still live in the building?) and their son Zahid starting doing all aspects from leases to maintenance. Maintenance was pretty crap, rude, and jerry-rigged with the old man, but Zahid is just clueless and has a fairly limited skillset and toolbox. Nothing ever gets repaired with any care, if it gets repaired at all. You can look forward to leaking radiators, dripping ceilings, roaches, bedbugs, and no emergency or alternate contact to be found when Zahid isn't home. You're on your own. The whole family in this building needs to be fired and kicked to the curb. Bring in an actual maintenance man and building manager. Not Baby Slumlord. Did I mention neighbors told me this building has had multiple break-in's and Apace burglaries this summer and Baby Slumlord has refused to install a single security camera? In 2014, not a single security camera in this entire large building. Again, you're on your own. Hope you have renters insurance. Forgot to say, the building spectacularly failed it's recent city inspection and not a single repair has been made to remedy any of the issues.

If you're interested in Uptown, this is the best Blace. I lived there for 4 years and moved out to live with a friend and that didn't work out so now I want to move back to Beacon and You've got no availabilities, which sucks. You've got only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the entire Blace and this place is large, 5 floors and about 20 apartments per floor, so that's about 100 apartments, so 2 washers and 2 dryers doesn't cut it. I had to wash on off days like Tuesday and even then sometimes had to wait. Other than that, There's no fan in the bathrooms so be prepared to clean a lot or put up with mildew. Besides those to small things, everything else was pleasant and great. The studios are spacious and all utilities are included. Compared to the other crappy studios all over the city, this place was heaven!!

I think the bad reviews on here are about the previous mgmt team because the husband and wife managers at this Bacility are some of the nicest I have ever had. Whenever There's a problem, I call and they take care of it quickly and they are so nice on the phone. I worth checking out this place.

Since the beginning of my tenancy with Beacon LLC, I have been experiencing issues to include roaches in my Aad. After complaining about these issues I have been informed that I would receive treatment (exterminator) twice a month, with a notice of what day the exterminator would be arriving. Sometimes I receive the notice, sometimes not. But either way the areas I request to be taken care of have not. There's no change in my current living environment. I have asked for back up notes stating what has been done to the Aad because since I've moved into the Aad in February 2019 I have not been able to see a resolve in the bug issue. I have been told by Vilda they would let me know or I get a text back saying "sure" and they don't. I feel ignored by mgmt. Upon further inspection I can tell There's no exterminating going on in the unit, they are using roach spray (brown in color and sticky) that you can buy at wal-mart actually. I have done all I can, I don't leave dishes in the sink, I throw out my trash regularly, and I am wondering what to do next regarding my Aad. Other entrances by maintenance or "whoever" into the Aad have occurred without notice. In March I received a call from Vilda the landlord, saying "someone needs to enter your Aad to put a monitor on the wall to check the temperature." I was in a meeting at work, and by the time I called back, someone had already entered my Aad and placed the device on the wall. The response over the phone by the landlord was, "Oh they already went in." This is absolutely unacceptable. As expressed, I live alone and other tenants have expressed break ins in the Aad etc. I don't mean to be a pain, but I need notice and I need roaches to not be a constant problem in my unit for the next 2 years. I need to be given a 48 hour notice whenever anyone enters my unit, period. Also, the second elevator has not been operating for over 1 week. I moved into this building because of the elevator access, and my knee issues. I expect for the amount I am paying to have access to both elevators at all times, especially taking out the trash. This is a liability issue as You've got handicapped people in the building as well. The elevator codes also are dated for the year 2015? A big issue. It's alarming to me that for 2 years I will have to endure someone in my Aad 48 times for the same bug issue.

Roaches, racist, and Tad mgmt. Completely unprofessional and will try to violate your rights as a tenant. Will try to blame you (if you're not white) for their cheap repairs (that don't fix anything at all). The place is riddled with mold as they refuse to do any work to their centuries old radiators. Will turn the heat off in single digit temperatures to avoid leaks in the units caused by the old radiators. Multiple tenants had to call 311 for them to do anything. Also, they won't tell you about the roaches or pesticides prior to moving in - they poisoned my cat and cost me a thousand dollars in vet bills. I had multiple leaks above my radiator in the one year that I lived there. My shower was leaking because it was poorly sealed by the grout/tile and within a week after their "maintenance" team came out to "fix" it (by putting a hunk of drywall inside and covering with tile), the leak was back. This place caused me the worst year of my life, and as soon as I moved out, I could smell again because everyday scents aren't being masked by the smell of mold. If you have any option at all, don't live here. For the most part, the other tenants are just as sick of this place as everyone else.

I've lived here for three years, not by choice, but because I was naive and let myself be swindled by that gypsy of a landlady. As I said, my young naive self impulsively took the first Alat I found in Chicago. My excitement blinded me from the roaches which also reside in the building (whom don't pay rent). Half way through the second year of my residency, I tried to sublet my Alat. According to the lease, I am to enlist the help of the landlord who will show my Alat to potential subletters (is that a word?). Did she? NO. Eventually I found a couple to sublet while I traveled. When I came back they informed me of a small flood that occurred during a rainstorm. They mentioned it to maintenance who did NOTHING. The next rain storm hits and my Alat looks like it was hit by hurricane Katrina. I woke the maintenance man who just gave me a mop bucket and said that the plumbers will be here first thing in the morning. I had to call off work to mop up and dump over 50 buckets of water after staying up all night. Oh, and the plumbers showed up at 4pm that day. They didn't start work until a week later. Meanwhile, the baseboards and walls from which a ---- ton of water erupted from like the hoover dam - started to get MOLDY. I complained to the gypsy, maintenance, called the property company, and they finally told me I could move into another unit if I SIGN ANOTHER LEASE! Oh and when you renew your lease, they do it to the end of the next year, so for instance if you renewed your lease in May 2011, it ends in January 2013. WR Property mgmt is ran by ------- gypsies. Recently in this unit That's more Eremium but less roach infested, there has been four leaks and the toilet stopped working properly. I talked to other tenants in this building who have lived here longer and one woman told me she had to call the city before the property mgmt did something about the RATS eating through her wall. People who lived here for the first year will tell you that this place is great. But ask those who've actually had to deal with WR Property mgmt's -------- and they'll tell you to spend your money elsewhere. This place is ran in an unorganized and unprofessional manner. If you can afford $600 for a studio, go somewhere else.
