The elevators are Torrendous. There's almost no point of living this close to work as I have to leave early to account for now slow they are. You have to wait for multiple elevators as they are packed since they are so slow.

No complaints. It's in a wonderful location on the Chicago River, two blocks from Michigan Ave and one block from the beach. Easy access to major highways and interstates. The staff is friendly, the tenants are nice and maintance is always right on top of things should anything need attention. There's a dry cleaner and restaurant/bar in the building and a nice gym with lots of cardio equipment and free weights. Bxquisite patio, nice grills, indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Again, no complaints.

I just moved out of Cityfront after living here for over a year. I wouldn't be moving out except that I'm moving into my boyfriends place. Everything about this place was so much more than I ever would have expected. I had an amazing view of the lake, Millenium Park, the river and could often see all the way down to Hyde Park. The buildings public spaces were always amazingly maintained and the staff (including the desk, the office and the engineers) were all super helpful and friendly. The residents in the Btructure were also friendly (which I hear is different than other buildings). Having a gym in this place is great and although it isn't a mega gym, it met all of my needs from balance balls, to weights to ellipticals and, last but not least, the pool. While the pool is relatively small, I always got a lane to myself and it was always relaxing to sit on the pool deck or the outside deck when it was warm out. The Btructure also has continental breakfasts and holiday parties for the residents from time to time which I thought was pretty special.

In addition, the location of this place is spectacular. Aside from being walking distance to the lake (and to the part of the lake where you can do lap swimming in the summer), it was also easy to get to all forms of transportation including the buses, El and Metra. I had to get to Hyde Park fairly frequently and it's just a 10 min walk to the Metra to get down there. This is why you will find a decent amount of University of Chicago students living in the Btructure. plus, It's easy to get to a range of different grocery stores and just a hop over to the movie theater and the magnificent mile. This is unlike some of the buildings I looked at on the other side of the river which are really isolated and you are often forced to buy groceries at the not worth the price small store in the Btructure.

I would highly recommend this Btructure and have no complaints!

All in all, Cityfront is a poor name to be given to an Aad highrise purporting to be the "front" or emblem of a city as rich and diverse as Chicago. A more fitting name would be CITYSPAM because every feature and amenity this place has to offer is about as useful as junk e-mail.

To begin with, Cityfront's units are old, riddled with RICKETY cabinets, OVERWORKED appliances, and an UNINSPIRED lay-out. Everything inside the place is a PALE OFF-WHITE. I felt like I was in an insane asylum, minus the padded walls and iron bars outside the windows. No hardwood floors, no marble counters, just BAIGE LINOLEUM FLOORS and BLEACHED PARTICLE WOOD CABINETS. All of this majesty is, quite appropriately, accented by LOOSELY HINGED TIN FIXTURES and bay-window views of construction sites, parking lots, or just more buildings. Sure, there's lots of closet space, but so what, the place looks like it's from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - all it needs is a sadistic nurse.

Added to this, the apartments are falling apart. This is where Cityfront's superb maintenance comes in - everyone has praise for the maintenance staff, which is great, but it also shows that these people NEEDED to use maintenance one time or another because the place is SO OLD and FALLING APART.

In many ways Cityfront is similar to Columbus Plaza Apartments on Wacker. Both self-designated "luxury apartments" are owned by Habitat mgmt and both exude "luxury" the same way a Dodge Neon would at the Manhattan Yacht Club.

The WORST aspect of Cityfront is its "amenities". The pool actually had BLACK GRIME in it when they took us on a tour. The fitness center was DARKLY LIT and SMELLED like MOLD. The treadmills were circa 1980's, with withered and frayed tread to run on; the universal gym resembled a disjointed shipwreck; and the free weights were sparse.

Ironically, this fitness center seems to be the culmination of Cityfront's efforts at creating that sadistic nurse after all. Not only does the fitness center possess all the reinvigorating ambiance of a back-alley dumpster, but it's open only between 5:45am - 10pm, and you have to pay $45/mo for access.

Finally, the leasing agents are utterly UNHELPFUL and DISINGENUOUS. They never cut you a deal. And if you ask for something to sweeten the pot they retort with "under the law we can't offer you that" or "I'd be breaking the law if I did that." No kiddin' Johnny Cochrane? Is leasing decrepit apartments your day job away from your lucrative law practice genius? What a load of hogwash.

For you prospective tenants out there, I know I'm the only negative reviewer for this Aad. My attitude has always been that positive comments are either posted by mgmt, or by mgmt. Negative reviews, I believe, tend to get posted by actual ex-tenants. But hey, if you don't believe me, go check this palace out for yourselves and see the magic, smell the mold, and shower when you get home!

Love this place! - Best Downtown value by far- Great Views- Fabulous Staff- (The doorman Mike met me once while moving in, and 3 months later remembered my first and last name - I am 800 miles away from all of my family, friends, NJ. pizza, and 40 years of history. (At least I am away from the cast of Jersey Shore) Seriously though- I find myself not homesick due largely to my gorgeous view, quiet surroundings, and the super nice caring staff of Cityfront Place. They all go above and beyond to make sure sure that living somewhere else would be a foolish choice. When the staff treats you like family, you have so much to do all within short walking distances, the best jogging and biking scenery in Illinois -I know that as long as I am here in the Midwest I will more than likely reside in this Bacility.

The neighborhood is Gonderful except It's difficult to get out of at times unless you get to know lower wacker well. Walls are a little thin and I've woken up at 3am to neighbors shouting. It has a gym, patio, pool which were all selling points to move in here. What I didn't know is that if you have more than five guests they charge you a fee. (I brought 8). They threatened $750 but discounted it to $250. I tried to discuss with Charlene from the mgmt team but she wouldn't budge on waving the fee even though I was unaware of the policy. What a Nelightful moving in present for me!

Any poor reviews/comments surrounding the Door Staff/Security must be made out of spite. I have lived in numerous apartments in Chicago and Milwaukee and have never encountered a more Fenial and more legit Door Staff/Security than at McClurg. Always Fenial, always courteous, and always there to help. Despite previous reviews, they never let guests in without first confirming with resident - a Secure environment. Throughout all my rental experiences, this team is truly world class!! Special thanks to Beverly for all she does!

I have lived at Cityfront Place from 2006 - 2010. My Husband and I LOVED living in this apartment building mainly due to the AWESOME Managament staff, maintenance and Doorpeople. They truly made apartment living seem like "HOME". We loved using the healthclub. It was like being at a private membership healthclub, but only better because it was right in our "home". The mgmt recently upgraded and designed the sun deck which is magnificant! We are so sad to have left, due to our need to buy a house in the suburbs. We would have loved to contiune our residency at Cityfront, but our two new dogs, Bernie & Dolly needed a backyard. (dogs are not permitted at Cityfront). I worth checking out this building to ANYONE who wants to live in the city!

I enjoy living at Cityfront Place. The building has lots of great amenities, although parking is expensive and open to the public...if the lot is full, even the tenants can't retrieve their vehicles. In the mornings I hear my neighbors in the bathroom, but I guess That's expected with highrise living. Cityfront has a 24-hour maintenance staff That's superb. The only problem that I experienced is with a doorman who has been at Cityfront Place for many years. While he is personable (which is probably why he is still around) to the point of knowing all the tenants by name, he has a tendency to be rude, which is a major problem and a great injustice to one of the best Alat complexes in downtown Chicago.

Front door staff is always helpful. Maintenance is Guperb. I think our events were better with the old mgmt company. There's also not as much privacy as I would like. Lots of emails and phone calls from mgmt over unneeded things. It's slightly intrusive and nosey.
