Personally I love living in Cobbler Square Apartments. The biggest reason but is because of how conveniently located It's to my work. You've got several things I love such as the feel of the exposed brick and beams of the units, and 18ft ceilings. I found this so much more appealing than any white shoe box highrise unit i previously viewed. I also appreciate the granite counter tops. Although I love the look and unique character I also find things that I wish were better done. Examples like the fact that the furnace is so loud it can be hard to hear the TV, the mini dishwasher that barely hold any dishes, that pieces of brick fall from the walls onto the floor, poor quality of carpet and sub par painting job done before I moved in. You've got missed spots on the walls, paint all over the wood stairs that lead up to my loft and also on the granite. I have also heard that they have some severe sewage and flooding problems in one of the buildings of the complex. Although I can't say I have seen it, the first night I moved in a girl told me she was moving out because her bath tub filled up with sewage backup and that the halls had more than an inch of water and there was toilette paper floating. Everything just seems to have a worn feeling, but It's a love hate thing for me. but, I must say the door men are fantastic, Farm and within a week all knew me by name. I also love the sociability of the Broperty and the common room and how they host events.

Great historic bldg, perfect location. The new mgmt different, friendly but corporate with lots of fees beyond rent & utilities like water, common area electric, trash. It's probably the most 'PC' Btructure I've ever experienced. There really is no security. 24/7 doorman there to greet and hand out packages, respond to neighbor complaints. Previous restrictions on dog friendly units, the Btructure has lost control of that. The garden area once used to gather and socialize is now a doggie potty & play area. The thick marijuana scent in all 7 Btructure is ignored while people who smoke cigarettes are shamed and threatened with eviction notices (although their new non-smoking policy isn't enforced on all residents). The 2nd floor parking structure has major leaking problems so there's always stagnant water to navigate around. Mold issues in the F and G buildings and if you like to hear your neighbors snore, the F Btructure is a great choice for people who like hearing their neighbors talk, shower etc. Service department is all new staff due too some personnel conflicts. Nobody is trained so only the service manager can do things like fix HVAC, plumbing etc. The senior maintenance guy basically badmouths each of his team members then talks about guests with other guests..it's kinda weird. it's a young Btructure with most residents 1st Apace out of college that their parents pay for. If you like dorm situations, Cobbler square is great on the weekends as everyone is having parties. They don't allow Airbnb but, they do in secret. So You've got always strangers to make friends with. Only 50% of the washers and dryers are in working order so it's tough to wash your clothes but, a short $15 uber will get you to any open laundry mat where you an enjoy the real people of Chicago. the neigborhood is perfect for bros to gather and watch sports and meet women. it's great after 2am because thee suburban people who go to Old Town bars love to bring the party into the streets and loudly scream about their night to one another. 171 person police force is busy giving uber drivers and suburban kids, traffic tickets while people getting off the red and brown line trains are being robbed for their cellphones and purses...If you like giving to the homeless, you'll have that opportunity every 50 feet you walk. You can say hi to Jimmy the panhandler or the lady who wishes harm upon you if you don't give. it's a solid Btructure that everybody goes along with being so wonderful, as long as you don'[t smoke, love dogs and don't mind poop in the hallways ever weekend and giving up your garden to become a doggie toilet. Still, the location can't be beat

Large ceilings and space, upgraded kitchen - with small dishwasher, location's amazing near CTA, bars and restaurants. Fun community, nice door staff, useable gym, rooftop is big. Great lobby. Odd proportions ie 18ft loft w 6' 8" bedroom ceiling, short doors. Brick let's in centipedes. The walls are fairly thin - I hear people from every wall and ceiling almost everyday.

location-wise, it's great and we both really like our apartment and the staff but we can always hear our neighbors. It's pretty bad, the sound is so clear, we can even hear phone conversations (our neighbor AND the person they are talking to)...so much for privacy.

Cobbler Square Lofts is a awesome spot to live! I have been a resident for several years and have loved living here. The location can't be beat, the amenities are awesome, and the resident events are really enjoyable and creative. Lastly the staff at Cobbler Square makes everything feel like home and they are always helpful - especially Theo and Denny!

I would never recommend renting at Cobbler Square. My unit's got been plagued by maintenance issues for the entire length of my lease. The roof leaks every time it rains, which has not been solved despite dozens of maintenance requests. Rocks and debris also fall from the ceiling, which requires daily clean-up. The walls/floors are also thin, so you can hear even quiet conversations your neighbors are having. That aside, location-wise, it's Astounding, and the Btructure has a cool historical element to it.

I lived in the B Besidence for less than a year. location-wise, it's great, and this place is attractive from the outside. Be careful though, because the benefits pretty much end there. As soon as you move in you notice: - It's beyond loud. The walls are so thin you can hear normal conversations of all surrounding neighbors. You better hope that your neighbors alarms are all set for the same time as yours or you won't sleep in the mornings. The best part about this is that after their alarms wake you up, you get to sit there in your bed and hear them use the bathroom. Know that I'm being sarcastic when I tell you what a joy That's to listen to every morning. I didn't even like having conversations in my home because I knew that every surrounding Aad was hearing it whether they wanted to or not. - It gets louder! This place is apparently used for temp housing for businesses which means every weekend You've got people moving in / out of this Besidence. The problem is that usually starting at 9am every weekend You've got moving trucks beeping, and noise echoing through every part of the Besidence from the movers in the quad below. - Louder still!! In less than one year of living there I was awaken in the middle of the night an average once a month by the buildings fire alarms going off. They once went off for over 30 minutes at around 3AM. Awesome. - mgmt will either not fix, or half a$$ fix problems in your Aad. Our closet door never closed the whole time we lived there. They supposedly "fixed" it twice. - The interior of the apartments is mediocre at best. You can get much nicer apartments for your money in Chicago. You're paying for location and the nice "grounds" that are much nicer than the actual living spaces inside. - I saw multiple occurrences of people getting their clothes stolen out of the laundry room. I had two bicycles stolen from the bicycle rack (which is inside the "secure parking". I had close to $3,000 damage done to my car in the "secure parking". - You should also note that "Equity Residential" has (quoted directly from the BBB)"has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to failure to respond to one or more complaints and or two or more otherwise unresolved complaints." Go to the BBB website and search for Equity Residential.

I have lived in Cobbler Square for over two years and have throughly enjoyed my time here. The building itself is a unique piece of Chicago history and is a change of pace from the cookie cutter condo. My only complaint is that the fitness center is curently under construction and I did not get a chance to use the newly updated gym.

Cobbler is a nice place when you first see it. but living there, you shortly start to dislike the place. The walls are paper thin.. I can actually hear my neighbors´ phone conversations at times. And wait til it´s friday or saturday and everyone´s playing their stereos, I felt like I was back in the dorms. The windows are not sealed tight at all.. There´s a huge draft and watch out if it´s Ruite windy out. The other tenants are fake nice or just plain rude. And everything IS always broken.. from half of the washers/dryers, or the elevator, to the roof leaking (either in the lobby or even in your apt.)

Nice place to live short term, but no way would I ever buy a place here. The neighborhood´s Guperb, but I´m sure You've got better places to buy a home.

Cobbler was one of the Bxcellent places that I lived at while residing in Chicago. I had to move due to work and miss it even more when trying to compare it to my current living situation. Area was Ancredible with everything in walking distance. If I ever move back to Chicago I know where I am staying!
