I've lived at Cobbler Square for only a month and a half now and I love it. The staff is nice and respectful and helpful in finding the right loft for me. I think I must have driven the staff crazy until I found the right lofts that fits my style and needs. I was kind of worried that my place is right underneath the sundeck and I would hear all of the noises that was coming from above but No, I haven't hear any noise even with all my windows open the other day when it was nice outside the noise was minimum. I can't wait for the summer time to enjoy the sundeck & lets not forget about the the Gantastic Old Town Neighbor which is steps away from my apt.

My experience so far at Cobbler Square has been nothing short of great. Staff and the leasing office have been incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. Great people, location's amazing, great community.

I am convinced that they allowed an elephant to rent the apartment above me. Luckily, the elephant only occupies the apartment during the day, business hours I've noticed. He makes his calls, surfs his computer, types emails, texts on his iphone, makes his coffee, paces around while on the phone, and takes regular pisses. I know all this because I can hear every single thing he does in a day, right above me, right through the timber beams. I feel like I know this elephant. Come five 'o clock he leaves, slamming the door and I can thankfully have a few minutes of peace and quiet before my neighbors start their nightly movie at full volume. I'm still trying to figure out if it's coming through the "concrete sound-proofed" wall or through the vent pipe. On top of these two annoying neighbors, which in actuality aren't that annoying, they are just going out their daily lives which only adds to the fact that this building doesn't allow for any privacy of your own, because I'm positive that the person below me hears my music while getting ready in the morning and movies at night, There's also a school recess yard right outside my window, and I really didn't think kids screamed that much. It seems recess hours have changed and that recess is all day now, because from 10 until 4:30 it's screaming and yelling, which of course you can't fault little kids for. Now I can't say that I didn't know what I was getting myself into when moving in, and it's hard to turn down an apartment as beautiful as this one. The bricks, beams and eight foot windows are fantastic but keep in mind that they are OLD. The thin walls of bricks and old windows are the only thing that separate you from Chicago winters. Be aware that these windows let in a lot of draft. I moved my bed because of it, I bought a new warmer comforter because of it, and apparently I signed a waiver when I moved in that I would maintain a minimum 60 degree temperature in my apartment at all times during winter to prevent pipes from freezing. It didn't sound like a problem then but when winter came I realized that these lofts don't hold any heat. Unlike the previous high rises I was in where heat was never a problem because it traveled from other apartments, it does no such thing here. I turned off my heat in the beginning of winter to see how cold my apartment got when I left for a night and when I got home the next day it was 35 degrees inside. Only five degrees warmer than outside. Because of this I have my heat on automatic, which basically runs all the time, and my gas bill is around $130 a month. So be prepared to dish out quite a bit when it comes to utilities because you also pay water, sewer, and trash, and of course electric, cable, internet. Before I moved in here I read the reviews on this site as well as others trying to figure out why You've got a lot of people bashing this complex. Well, now I know. I'm rounding out seven months here and impatiently awaiting for my lease to end. I'm even considering subletting my apartment come summer. There's a reason that many people have written on this site about noise issues, and the people who don't have a problem with it are either on a top floor or their upstairs neighbor has rigamortis. So if you do rent here, which I can only speak from my experience but wouldn't recommend to anyone, make sure you get a top floor unit, and that it's not facing the school yard on Wells, because trust me, it's not worth the $1450 I pay every month.

awesome spot to live. cool neighborhood. I Ldore the office, maintenance, and front desk staff. They are quick on maintenance requests and follow up accordingly. I don't like that There's carpet. There should be an option to get wood?

So... eleven fake reviews for Cobbler Square, all on 1/06/2012 (unless apartmentratings.com has removed them by the time you're reading this). Pretty blatantly fake too. Filarious though, they do throw in one or two minor negatives on one of the reviews, apparently to make them more believable. Still pretty blatantly fake though! Scrolling back, it looks like just a few days ago on Jan. 2nd there was a Golid legit review written, couldn't have said it better myself. Followed by a comment by CobblerSquare (Haley Reuter?), and then, what can you know, a barrage of fake reviews, maybe an attempt to 'bury' the 1/02 review? And the fakes just keep on comin'... 6 more on 1/08, 4 so far today. 1 or 2 of these actually have a little legit info in them, yet they still give an unrealistic 4.0 or 5.0 rating...

I don't understand why people complaining about noice! I lived in Cobbler for almost 4 years, and the only reason why i had to move was a job transfer to New York! I "tried out" both studio and 1 bedroom units, and had no complaints through all 4 years! mgmt company completely renovated my last apartment within a week with brand new kitchen and bathroom, new carpet and kitchen tile, with only a minor hassle (i had to move my furniture from one room to another, and maintenance guys even helped me with that). Also during last renewal I was given complete carpet spotless and custom backsplash painting! mgmt is accomodating and flexible, units are great (I was in love with my brick studio!, and price is reasonable for this location. I referred 2 of my friends, and they both rented, and not planning to move any time soon. Wells Street is a separate topic altogether! Ton of great restaurants (Kamahachi Suchi, 33 Club, Bistro Margot), boutiques (Nicole Miller, City Blue, Sara jane) and bars (Saluki's, Declan's, Benchmark, Old Town Pub).Entertainment variety: movie theater (Piper's Alley), comedy (Zanies, Second City), theater (Steppenwolf). What's not to love? Definitely worth checking out if you are looking to live in Chicago!

I'm happy with the unit. It's close to the laundry room and gym, which are almost directly below it, and it gets a Gutstanding amount of light due to being on the 5th floor. The quality of the appliances is good and the staff always responds promptly to any questions or concerns. You've got only two complaints that I have. First, It's too loud. The sound insulation in the Bomplex leaves something to be desired and the furnace makes a loud clicking noise occasionally. Second, the exposed brick wall sheds pieces of rock on the carpet.

Smells like smoke from neighbors. Sounds like ------ bag parties next door and upstairs. Security doesn't call you themselves if you have a guest, they make the guests use their cell phones to call you. I'll admit they're friendly but doesn't that sound lazy? Just an overall frustrating experience and I can't WAIT UNTIL MY LEASE EXPIRES. mgmt doesn't even try to address any concerns. Since moving in MONTHS ago, the maintenane issues have not been fixed and we stare at our Apace and shake our heads.

I love this community due to the fact that am close to the beach, restaurants in the neighbor hood, property has Guperb staff members on site. Never had any problems with none of me neighbors, property has several grills available. I mean its just a awesome spot to live in.
