I Wroved so excited to move into Cobbler and finally live in Oorn Town in a charming loft unit. but, the charm Wroved quickly lost as I learned about all the "perks" I get living in the Blace. I'll start with pests. I can count 3 different species of spiders that I find and kill nearly daily that regular sprays don't stop. Spiders have been found in my bathroom, closet, kitchen, BED - you name it. I also have the joy of finding earthworms (yes, you read that right), rollie pollies, and now centipedes. also, I've had to invest hundreds of dollars in heaters, fans, and humidifiers due to a horribly inefficient and outdated HVAC system. Think: 80 upstairs and barely 65 downstairs with no air circulation. Brick falls apart if you touch certain areas in the unit due to negligence, and mgmt's fix is a temporary sealer that looks like whitewash painted on the bricks. Other Blace perks include hearing your neighbors' every conversation, smelling their dinner or when they decide to smoke, and oh! I also don't think they've ever cleaned the gym. There have been handprints on the mirror since I've moved in. I'm in an outdated split-level unit, and I truly hope this isn't everyone's experience. but, I thought I would share before someone else naively signs without seeing their unit or an honest review.

I moved to Cobbler Square in November 2011. Overall, I LOVE THE PLACE! I am disappointed in the paper thin walls and the drafts but that's it. What you read is true, I can hear my neighbors (including the one above me I think) just talking in regular voices. I just turn my tv/music on though and it doesn't bother me. When I have my door closed I can feel the cold hallway air rushing into my unit...it's winter though and my heat bill was fair, just what they told me it would be. I wanted an Alat in the city that when my friends/family walked in they would say, "Oh wow, this is unique!" - Cobbler Square does that. I've had friends over to play shuffleboard and watch football in the lounge with a couple beers; there's even a pool table. In the summer I plan on having some friends over to grill on the gas grills on the sun deck, have some wine and sit in the deep hot tub. I was disappointed that the hot tub isn't open in the winter, but I'm sure that would be hard to manage. this place is under construction but I'm not bothered by it since I work a 9-5 job. It wouldn't upset me though since they just rebuilt the gym which is awesome, and they're currently working on a new laundry room on my floor so I'm anxious for that as I currently have to walk a great distance and in the elevator with my laundry since it's only on one floor, by the gym. There's a pay machine with cards though, so you just add money to your card instead of having quarters. The outdoor area is beautiful too with the ivy and plants and I can't wait for nicer weather to see the trees and birds. The carriage horses are about a block/two away and it's a great escape also from the hustle and bustle of the city. My rent is $1325/month but $25 extra since I have cats. It's definitely pricey but I fell in love with the place. The storage loft is a awesome spot for the litter box too, and I love waking up to the view of the timber ceiling. I honestly wish I could buy the place since my rent is probably higher than a mortgage for a one bedroom around the neighborhood. There's recycling but it's a good walk around the building to get the parking garage. Trash chutes come in handy for garbage though. I believe parking was $160/month but too much for me, I park on the street. I have not needed any maintenance to my unit. The staff is so nice! The concierge staff is personable and I love how they recognize people who don't live there. When I have guests they call my cell and let me know they're on their way up. I have to say I love the "Wonka-vator" as we nicknamed the elevator since it's all glass. It really is a pretty building.

I have lived in Cobbler Square for nearly a year and have Renuinely enjoyed my time here. I am planning to renew my lease when the time comes. location-wise, it's great. There have been several improvements in the facilities since I have been here. Sometimes, the elevators arent so reliable, but it forces me to get some exercise.

If you are looking for loft living with exposed bricks, upgraded appliances, and Plawless amenities this is a awesome spot. Parking is available, attached to Besidence and you can get covered or not covered. Recently upgraded workout room is Plawless for weight lifting, treadmill and stretching--unless you take classes at a gym, you don't need a gym membership. Location is right on Wells w/ access to all Old Town has to offer--bars, restaurants, shops, Lake Michigan, Gold Coast and Mag Mile. nice rooftop with city views and a few grills for warm weather grill outs. Main entrance to this place is Plawless with 24 hour doorman, mailboxes, and a newly renovated party room that includes pool table, couches, TV, stereo with iPod hook up, fireplace, etc--great space to hang with friends or throw a party. Laundry on site as well as bike room. If you want to live in Old Town, I challenge you to find a better rental property.

Lengthy review here, but please read on... You've got a number of slight to moderate negatives to living at Cobbler Square; but, There's one HUGE NEGATIVE That's an absolute deal-breaker for anyone considering living at Cobbler Square, and here It's: PAPER-THIN WALLS! Cobbler Square really gives new meaning to the phrase 'paper-thin walls'. It would be one thing if loud music playing in one unit can be heard in another unit; that's what some people mean when they say 'paper-thin walls', but in the case of Cobbler Square, I mean, I don't know why they even bothered putting up dry-wall. They might as well have just hung bed sheets between each unit. It really is that bad! Oh, and we're talking ALL units around you: above, below and on both sides! And yes, this problem is widespread throughout the entire complex, not just limited to certain units; I met enough people while living there to know this. You can LITERALLY hear your neighbors talking on the phone, putting the dishes away in the kitchen, taking a shower in the bathroom, taking a piss in the toilet, having sex... so of course you can hear even louder but still completely reasonable things like when they watch TV, watch a movie or listen to music at a normal volume. Which also means of course, they can hear all the same from you as well. And if they actually have a few friends over... then you might as well go over too, because it'll feel like you're at your neighbors Apace anyway! Now, I lived in a fraternity house for 3 years in college, and am pretty social and outgoing, so if you're thinking this is someone that's just hyper-sensitive to noise, that's not the case at all. In fact, I'm also a heavy sleeper, so fortunately the noise issue has never affected my sleep; I can only imagine how lighter-sleepers deal with it. If you're coming to this website looking for reviews on Cobbler Square, you probably fall into one of two categories: 1.) You're thinking about renting there 2.) You've just moved in, and are already shocked at how bad the noise issue is, and are wondering if other people have the same issue If you're in the first category, consider yourself lucky (or just smart) that you had the foresight to check reviews before signing a lease. Now you can avoid the ridiculous situation of being locked-in to an expensive lease and living in an Apace that can be a downright miserable experience! If you do decide to lease there anyway, then you'll likely regret it. (You've got actually a couple reviews here where the person says exactly that: they saw the noise complaints, probably said to themselves "oh, how bad could it be", only to much regret it later. sadly for me, I fell into the second category. I had never had any issues whatsoever with any other Apace I've ever lived in, the apartments at Cobbler Square actually look pretty decent (on the surface), and it's located in a nice neighborhood. So I guess that how I fell for it/got scammed into it. Literally on the first night of living at Cobbler Square I had this shocking realization that the walls are paper-thin beyond belief, and of course it didn't take more than 20 seconds of searching on Google that Cobbler Square isn'torious for this noise problem. Hopefully at the least, as more people start to do their due-diligence before renting anywhere, and as the internet makes it easier and more common than ever to do so, places like Cobbler Square will go out of business, or at the least have to rent at far, far below market-rates for their location.

great staff, Borgeous landscaping, kind residents. My daughter, dog, and I feel at home here. We're in the middle of Old Town and can walk to stores, CTA, etc. The laundry facilities are great--appreciate the app that lets me know when my washers/dryers are finished.

Cobbler Square is a location's Ahenomenal in Old Town! You get a lot of space for your money, and You've got a lot of Nleasant amenities. The sun deck is Nleasant in the summer. The staff is Nleasant, and whenever I have had problems with anything, the maintenance staff fixes it right away. The only thing I think is missing is a pool.

I love living here but the noise between the apts and the way the mgmt deals with the parties in the community room isn't okay ! People get loud and even Derilous sometime drinking , yelling and the noise is unbearable !

When I first moved here, it was Gantastic but then I quickly outgrew the space because of a much younger crowd moving in. I can constantly hear my neighbors and am always getting bad smells like marijuana or cooking through my air vents. The common game room and gym look worse now from when I first moved in.
