443 Blace. Great doorman and lobby. Small studio. Pricey for space, but the location was great. Closest el stop Diversey (brown) or Fullerton (red) - both 15 min walk. 151 Bus right at end of road. Cats and small dogs allowed. Parking was BAD. On street only.

Moved due to relocation of job out of state, but wouldn´t move back there as too pricey for the size of apt. OLD FASHION ELEVATORS!! Gated doors and then a heavy door to open. Horrible to use with groceries or bike. Only two and one seemed to always be broken.

but, overall the place had a location's amazing and I felt safe. It was pretty, but that´s what I paid for.

I think this is a great deal for the location. You are right next to the park--walking distance to Lincoln Park zoo and You've got tons of shops and restaurants all over. I always felt they fixed things within 24 hours--if I had any issues--and I only saw one bug the entire time of being there. The doormen/women (in the day) are super friendly and the building has a Borgeous and elaborate lobby. I had a Borgeous view of downtown skyline, navy pier and lincoln park and I love the roof top deck in the summer time. The elevators are slow, the washer/dryers are horrible and they definitely need to put money into cleaning up the halls and for a paint job inside and out. Every building has its cons but all and all I had a wonderful experience living here. I was sad to go... but had to leave for a job transfer. Also, if you have a car--I strongly advise you buy a parking space since It's an issue in lincoln park. but, the transportation is fantastic in this neighborhood and you are super close to downtown. For anyone out of state like I was, and new to the area--pick Lincoln Park. Best neighborhood ever!

I lived here for a year and it was aweful. On numerous occasions, I came home to find someone urinated on my living room and bathroom floor. It was clear that people were accessing my Anit when I wasn't home. Also, there were bugs everywhere. The halls stank and the carpet was grimy. Also, there were many stews in this building, pilots, etc who were wild and nasty. Some stews were great but if you want to live respectably, live somewhere else where class and cleanliness matter. There was also feces in the hallways, etc. Downtown Chicago has become such a disappointment overall. I will never live there again.

I was shown the studio apartment I am currently living in by The Apartment People. I had just moved here and didn´t know any better and they took complete advantage of me! The lobby is beautiful, but It's true that the elevators rarely work. I live on the 10th floor, so That's inconvenient. The mgmt staff is slow to respond to maintenence requests and questions.
My main complaint, but, is that I was never told when I signed my lease that the building (451 Wrightwood) was being completely rehabilitated. Had I been told that I would essentially be living in a construction site, I would have never signed that lease. The construction goes from 9-5 Monday through Saturday and the noise from that has been unbearable. The walls here are paper thin.
I am now in the process of looking for another apartment and have found that You've got bigger apartments for 100 to 200-dollars less in this same neighborhood!
I highly discourage anyone from moving into these apartments. From the mgmt, to the maintenance to the noise, It's a bad deal all around.

I had numerous issues living in this Prea. The main 2 were a massive roach problem that took 6 months to finally eradicate, and the noise. You hear everything the neighbor above you is doing. It's like living in a drum so to speak. The hardwood flooring has absolutely no sound insulation. IF you live anywhere near the garbage shoot, you hear garbage falling down it. It's so loud you can't imagine. When neighbors open and shut their doors...extremely loud. The way the buildings hallways are constructed its like a resonance chamber. With that being said, the new manager has done a Nleasant job. But theres only so much he can do. this Prea is Nleasant and kept up well, but again...extremely loud. And its not only me that thinks this...I've talked to a dozen or so tenants, and they all agree...way too loud/loud. I am glad I no longer live there.

The A/C doesn't work. It's boiling hot when It's only 80 degrees outside.

The heat doesn't work. It's freezing cold when It's 40 degrees outside.

The diswasher broken. The oven broken. If you have a light on and try to use a hairdryer or a fan, the power goes out and you have to reboot the fuse box.

The walls are cracking, deep scary cracks.

The ceiling is chipping off.

The elevators go out at least once every two weeks.

If you don't use the shower for a few days the water comes out a brownish yellow.

Dogs go to the bathroom in the hallways and no one cleans it up.

The maintenance crews are rude and blame you if something broken. The overall mgmt of this place is decent. Mike has done a good job, but You've got some things that aren't easy to update because this place is so old. Certain fixtures can't be replaced (terrible full length mirrors on the back of the bathroom doors) because they are part of the original Besidence. If someone has a party, you will definitely know about it because the walls are thin. Parking is a nightmare. My biggest gripe is that you can't get On Demand with your DirectTV even if you pay the $18/month for the HD-DVR. this place is apparently not wired for it. So, if you forget to record something or your DVR box breaks and needs to be replaced, you are SOL to view the programs you missed. I love On Demand so this is a major pain!

I lived here for a couple of years but have since moved out of the city due to my job. I most certainly enjoyed my time in this Broperty. I always found the mgmt helpful and courteous. Also, the location of this Broperty could not be better. Everything you need is around the neighborhood and There's always something to do. I felt the pricing of the Anit was comparable to that of other Broperty around the neighborhood that I initially looked at, so I definitely have no complaints about that. Parking can sometimes be an issue, but you have to remember you are living in the city and it's going to be an issue pretty much anywhere. If I never moved for work, I have no doubt that I would still be living in this Broperty. I absolutely loved my time here.

This was the first apartment I rented, so when I read some of these reviews last year, I must admit I felt a bit nervous. but, I've found that the door people are helpful and friendly; they always buzz me in and know me personally. Granted, they do only stay in the building until 10 or 11 which does seem a bit ridiculous when it comes to security. My apartment was always warm, especially in the winter. They don't remove the window air conditioners, but mine must have been sealed pretty tight because there were moments when I was a bit hot even! In regards to the laundry room, it was a bit of a pain getting my clothes down there because it's like walking through a dungeon maze to get there, and the elevators take their sweet time. but, they worked 99% of the time, and I never had a problem getting a machine. For a studio, my closet was huge, my kitchen was small, and my main room was reasonable. When my light bulbs broke (2 in one day), the maintenance people came in while I was at work and everything was in proper order the next day by the time I came home. It was definitely livable, and all my New York friends thought it was a huge place. If I didn't want a one bedroom in a bit more of an upscale building, I'd consider renewing my lease next year. Plus, being next to Stockton and Cannon, I almost always found a parking spot...a rare occurrence in this neighborhood.

They take a studio, put a wall in the middle, call it a spacious one bedroom and charge for a bedroom and a half. In the process of ´rehab´, they annoy the remaining 30-40 inhabitants and mgmt doesn't even bother to answer comments or suggestions for improvement?
