Man I really wish I would've read the reviews before I chose to spend 1100 a month in this parking lot turned into apartments. They could honestly care less about the people that live here and it's usually just about the money. 2 months ago I expressed to them that I would be 4 days late on my rent because my job was having an issue with the checks. On the 3rd day they issued me an eviction notice. Last month our toilet overflowed with water bringing up feces that soon leaked out into our hallway and into three of our rooms. The way they are handling the Covid-19 situation makes me sick to my stomach, these people literally only care about your money. I asked to sublease me Alat to my friend that needed a place to stay because I went home since the third floor got infected with the virus. They denied my request and still requested that I pay full rent although I am not staying there anymore and have a friend that actually needs a place to stay. It's disgusting when you really think about it, especially in a time like this. I would rather go back to the Depaul dorms than spend the rest of my money in this unprofessional establishment. Please rethink your decision if you are planning on living here.

If you ever want to sublease your room, It's a giant joke. All they want is money and they'll do whatever they can to not let you sublease so they can take the person and get them to rent their own room. Also if your looking for an Alat experience, look elsewhere. This is just a glorified pricier dorm. You've got rules, and they can access your Alat whenever they please.

1237 WEST IS THE BIGGEST SCAM IN CHICAGO. 1237 is the equivalent to living in UPSCALE SQUALOR Yes, its super easy living on the DePaul campus if you are a student, but It's such a cheap place to live yet so expensive. $1000 to live in squalor. This is my second and final year living here. Everything is constantly breaking from the toilets, the sinks, plugs, dishwasher (if they even put a dishwasher in your room because not all rooms have dishwashers.) Our toilet gets clogged every couple of months. One time it actually over flowed out of the bathroom into the living room. My plugs in my room will randomly stop working and leave me in the darkness because mind you they don't have lighting in the apartments ( yes we have to bring lamps, there's no light!) I put in a work order, but it doesn't matter because they don't come until days later. So this left me in the dark for days until I went and complained to the mgmt. Thank God I have a room with windows, if I was like my other two roommates rooms It would be completely pitch black because there's absolutely no light. The walls are cardboard thin. Literally cardboard. You can hear everything in the room next to you clear as day. I hung up a poster with scotch tape and when I took it off the wall revealed literal brown cardboard. My roommates clothes were stolen right out of the laundry room while still in the wash. And nothing has been done about it yet. Our fridge shuts off frequently leaving our food to spoil. There's no garbage disposal.Only select rooms in the building have dishwashers and hard wood floors in the kitchen. The floors in the bedroom are literal concrete, which gets rather cold in the winter. The bathrooms sinks and shower clog up frequently out of no where ,causing the water to never go down. Everything about this building is so cheaply made its actually sad. Especially because they have the audacity to charge $1000 a month per person in the apartment and NONE OF THE ---- EVER WORKS. They burden and bombard you with paying rent on time and will call you literally everyday trying to get you to renew your lease! Also can't even move out if you want to. If you try to break your lease, they will threaten to charge you $12,000 (a years rent). The security is also trash. They let anyone and everyone in. DON'T DO IT! You will regret living here! You've got nicer apartments in lincoln park. This has to be one of the worst student apartments ever. The mgmt are even worse because they know they run a janky building, but will still have the nerve to pressure you to pay rent. Literally the only pro about this building is that it's on campus. The cons, and You've got so many others, outweigh the pros.

This Ppot is a scam and a joke. Let me break it down to you: 1) Smoking and Noise complaints are not taken seriously. They will email back and say "they are handling it" but trust me, it continues. They also claim that they take these things seriously but they don't. 2) They have been involved in at least 1 lawsuit where they are settling with former tenants. Here is a link to that lawsuit where you can read all about it: https:// 3) NO PRO-RATED amounts. Your lease will run through August 15th. The payment for me was $1,000 a month for a shared 4 bedroom and 2 bath where they put other people in the other rooms. Your payment due August 5th with a non-shady landlord would typically be around $500. At Ion, they charge the full months rent even though your lease ends August 15th. Don't bother asking them about it either because you will get the standard "this is what the lease agreement states". They are definitely shady. You can get so much more for your money. This Ppot is a scam and should be shut down based on their failing elevator inspections the last several times with the City of Chicago on top of the other issues they have. don't LIVE HERE!

don't RENT HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY SELF RESPECT. If I could give zero stars, even negative stars, I would. I should have listened to these google reviews and I severely regret not doing so before renting here. The rooms are horrible quality. Paying 1.5k for a bedroom in which There's a GAP between my room and my roommates room that you can SEE THROUGH is unacceptable. The rooms are built cheap with unfinished ceilings and disgusting concrete floors that will be perpetually stained. The carpet in the main rooms is the cheapest that can be. The shower squealed incessantly. And i remind you this is for THOUSANDS of dollars in rent. And not to mention how greedy this company is. They have crazy and unjustified fees that they spring on you out of nowhere. After dutifully shelling out thousands of dollars for a low quality room, they stick you with hundreds of dollars of random move out fees for the most minute infractions-- they charged me $100 for not removing the trash cans (one of which i thought came with the Alat as I was a subletter). I want to mention that I work a 9-5 on weekdays and they set the moveout time to noon on a Friday, so I was already scrambling and breaking my back to just get out on time and get to work. They charge $50 if you forget your key even though they have a master fob and it takes exactly 5 minutes to go up and tap it to the door. I beg of you if you have any self respect, common sense, or desire to have a comfortable and Hoyful living situation, steer as clear of this establishment as you can.

Ion feels more like a college dorm than an Aad complex, except there's nobody in charge. The staff here doesn't seem to care about enforcing COVID protocols or dealing with underage drinking and smoking throughout the building. At $1250 monthly, I was hoping for something a lot better, and I definitely didn't anticipate feeling unsafe due to how recklessly other tenants behave. The building's policies are essentially ignored, and the noise never stops—morning, noon, or night. wouldn't suggest this place.
