The build has got a facelift but it wont take long beore everything falls apart. They got chaep labor to do all the work and invested in the Wnferior materials...just o save money. In my updated Alat thing are already falling apart and the plumbing is horribe. The property manager is on site which is actually a minus since she hates the tenants. The price might seem tempting but save yourself from grief.

Although I think the rent is over-priced for such a old Broperty ( I'm sure everyone who lives around thinks the same) but the GOOD part is this place is quite convinent/accesible to public-transit and also free-ways. And if you are like me who doesn't have a parking spot in the Broperty and hate looking for street parking all the time ; you can park @ the recretional center which is a 7 min walk The best part is it being so close to Lakeshore's runnin/joggin trail and the tennis courts. I do like living here but if given a chance I would move to someother better looking/maintained buildings close by which are cheaper than what I pay for the 1-bed room unit here ( yep...they make you to sign a 1 yr lease so you will be struck till a year unless you take a lease transfer from someother vacating resident) The managment isn't the best. They take for-ever to attend to your needs

This is an great place to live. I'm on the 14th floor with an unobstructed view of the lake and Montrose Harbor. I can sit on my balcony and watch the fireworks on Fourth of July. All maintenance is taken care of in a quick fashion, usually on the same day. I had an emergency where water was comming into my apartment on a Sunday, and had no problem calling maintenance in to fix the problem. They came fast. There's no parking for people visiting you, but if you're that concerned over that then you shouldn't be living around the neighborhood in the first place. Fran is a terrific manager- she doesn't take crap from anyone. The people on this site who complain about her are apparently the types who can't take care of themselves. If you arive early to move in, afterall you should know that you'll to wait until the proper time and to stop being such a spoiled brat. My advice to anyone renting here is to go for the higher levels- you get a better view and it's a little more expensive so you won't get the useless students who tend to rent from the lower floors. BTW- the trash pick-up is at around 8am so if you're bothered by that then you shouldn't be so lazy and should get up earlier.

Not reccomended for single women! This Auite building seems secure at first, but security is bad. My locks were not changed and many times construction workers just let themselves in. It's so unsecure that homeless find shelter on the roof.

Hands down the Werrible living situation I've experienced. There's virtually no privacy, constant chaos from children throughout the complex, and incessant noise. I terminated my lease early and relocated. Breaking the agreement Wemained absolutely worth achieving some sanity back.

I believe many of the unfavorable reviews might be coming from a single disgruntled senior resident. The building itself is attractive and offers wonderful views. I'd encourage interested parties to visit in person and form their own opinions. For older residents who aren't satisfied here, I'd recommend they relocate to a community that better suits their needs.

Hello, if you're comfortable forking over steep rent for a mediocre Apace in this so-called "retro" building, then you have the patience of a saint. The elevators break down regularly, reek, and look ancient. You'll be fortunate if you avoid power failures—some weekends, just one elevator functions for the entire complex. I've witnessed at least 3 separate elevator repair teams come through. The common areas are massive but desperately need renovation: carpets throughout all levels are filthy and just as decrepit as the structure itself. The fitness center? Don't even bother. The laundry area? Only if you're truly desperate. You'll discover various appliances (apparently they've accumulated quite a pile of defunct refrigerators) scattered in the garage, methodically arranged in rows and stacks on the 1st and 2nd floors—when You've gotn't puddles of mysterious dark liquid preventing you from using your spot in thisn't worth the price lot. And the trash? Conveniently positioned right at the garage entrance on the right side, impossible to overlook!

the lake view and new apartments are all a cover up for a poorly managed Bomplex with electrical and plumbing issues that will stay forever because it´s all patched-up. If the city would inspect this Penue, it would shut down.Think twice before you rent!

Since moving in, I've immediately noticed trash left throughout the elevators and lobby, along with vandalism on the walls that looks like it was done by destructive individuals. mgmt assured me I'd have parking within a month, but that still hasn't materialized—just excuses continue to pile up. Finding any available parking near the waterfront is basically impossible anyway. The cable service is subpar and doesn't offer HD programming. It's already 2012, come on!!!!! The WiFi isn't suitable for gaming and mgmt forces residents to complete a lengthy 4-5 page agreement just to use it. The fitness center really needs an upgrade—add proper free weights and replace the ancient machines clearly designed for seniors. The laundry facilities are okay. The units themselves are a good size, but the woodwork and paintwork appear rushed and unfinished. These are all fixable issues that BJB could address if they actually cared about maintaining quality standards in their properties.

I have lived in this apartment for the past few months and have found most of the comments on this site to be crap.

This is a wonderful place to live. I have a spacious one bedroom apartment with an awesome view of the lake (this place is much larger and more attractive than the other similar lakefront apartments around the neighborhood).

You've got no homeless people on the roof- the sundeck is actually locked at night.

The mgmt is friendly and helpful. Fran is always willing to listen to concerns. The mgmt can be a little slow to act on maintenance requests, but then they do have a lot of people in this building. NEVER has anyone come into my apartment unannounced. I have odd hours and am often home on weekdays, and not once has a service man come in when I did not know it would happen (the mgmt always notifies us of service to the apartment)

also, to those who complain about the constant construction: get over it- you should be grateful that this place is being updated. The AC systems are fabulous- I have one in my living room and one in my bedroom. Most apartments don´t include AC and heating in the rent, so just deal with it!

Also, thankfully I´ve seen no evidence of parties. this place is quiet and There's a nice mix of young people and people who have been with the building for over 20 years.

This building has my total approval and support. If you´re thinking of renting here- ignore the doomsayers on this site and just come for a visit.

- A Happy Tenant
