I'd guess whoever left that review on 2/10 must've submitted it right before the fire happened. That marked the second significant fire incident the building experienced within a six-year span. There'sn't much else to add about living here. This piece captures what it's like residing at Lake Park Plaza: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-powerout11feb1

"This is my personal assessment" BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT MOVING HERE - The mgmt team displays consistently hostile and dismissive behavior toward tenant concerns. Check out the numerous other reviews that echo this exact sentiment. The gym's air conditioning unit hasn't functioned for over 3 weeks, residents are being subjected to repeated noise complaints without legitimate grounds, and mgmt has made no effort to work toward a fix. The doorstaff provide no friendly greeting, appear disengaged from their work, and communicate disrespectfully with residents. We have initiated harassment grievances against multiple parties including residents, mgmt, and maintenance personnel. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND CONSIDERING OTHER OPTIONS

I have lived here for 20 years and over the past five years the Petting has gone downhill. Lake Park Plaza Ippears a hell-hole during the day. Only people who work the first shift can live here. The noise between 8 am and 5 pm makes it an impossible Petting to live if you work at home or work during the second or third shift. The Board of Directors and the mgmt Office pay little attention to the needs of the tenants

This has to be the absolute worst place to ever call home. My partner and I relocated to Chicago from Portland, Oregon just over a year ago, and we were incredibly thrilled about exploring a vibrant new city with endless possibilities! We decided on Lake Park Plaza because of the fantastic amenities it advertised—a swimming pool with an expansive sundeck featuring cabanas and grills, basketball court, tennis court, bike storage and a full fitness center. Throughout the ENTIRE year we've lived here, the Bomplex has been under continuous renovation for every amenity except the bike storage, which we couldn't even access anyway since we were number 12 on the waiting list!? Wouldn't any reasonably managed Bomplex have one bike storage unit PER resident...clearly that's not how things operate here. Upon moving in, mgmt assured us that minor renovations to the amenities would wrap up by MAY... we're now in mid-SEPTEMBER and they're nowhere near completion. We've endured construction racket, water shutoffs, and ZERO amenities for the entire year. On top of failing to deliver promised amenities, they hiked the Move-Out fee by $250, ONE month before our departure—just four weeks' notice. You'd assume that since we never received anything we paid for, they'd honor the move-out fee from our original lease, especially with only one month remaining, but they showed zero consideration whatsoever. The mgmt consists of some of the most unprofessional, condescending, narrow-minded, incompetent individuals I've encountered. I've sent emails, made calls and submitted written requests repeatedly, receiving zero acknowledgment, UNTIL I contacted them from my corporate email (I'm in HR at a commercial real estate company) and suddenly they rolled out the red carpet...!!! The laundry machines perpetually reek, constantly malfunction with leaks, and routinely fail to dry clothes. Without exception, at least one elevator is always broken, and regarding the doorstaff—there's ONE gentleman who's genuinely pleasant and excels at his job, while the others refuse entry (we use the front door ourselves, but there's a second entrance to our elevator corridor) even when you're juggling armfuls of groceries AND they clearly recognize I'm a resident. I would absolutely never recommend this place to anyone as you'll be thoroughly unhappy the entire duration. We can't wait to leave...it's completely destroyed our perception of Chicago, and turned our first year here into a complete disaster. Thanks for absolutely NOTHING Lake Park Plaza.

STAY AWAY! The absolute worst Auite experience imaginable. On the surface, the pricing, facilities, and neighborhood seem appealing - but the property mgmt is atrocious. Move-in charge, security deposit for move-in, move-out charge, deposit for move-out (which has to be collected from the office several days post-move), charges for disposing of trash items, fee to use the pool (which has been under renovation for 11 months still...), and more. When we requested assistance regarding unit issues (condensation freezing on window interiors in cold months, basement storage getting water damage, etc) the mgmt team responded with "that's not our responsibility" and "we've never experienced that before." They provided zero assistance. Vacated the unit the moment our lease was up. Irritable longtime residents who complain about having your television on past 10 pm, unfriendly security staff, and more headaches too numerous to list. EXCESSIVE RESTRICTIONS: no using elevators for furniture transport, book and pay for moving services, mandatory quiet hours after 10 pm, prohibited disposal of bulky waste items, etc. If you're seeking a tall residential building with proactive mgmt or basic consideration - look elsewhere.

This is a high-rise condominium complex with approximately 30 floors. I lease my unit from a private owner. The units themselves are quite spacious--comparable to suburban garden apartments in size. They lack distinctive character, but the square footage is generous. The real issue stems from the mgmt company and condo board. The board, like many condo associations, operates this property with an iron fist. They constantly convene to devise additional rules, regulations, and ASSESSMENTS to impose on residents. The condo board's governance is so oppressive that it once motivated someone to attempt arson out of spite. This occurred during the tense period following 9/11 and was deeply unsettling. Police never identified the perpetrator, and tragically one person lost their life. Graffiti discovered near the fire sites suggested the act was carried out by either an unhappy tenant or staff member. Regarding the staff itself, the mgmt team is highly bad. Their incompetence seems to worsen with every new hire, creating a constant turnover of administrators. The incompetence can't be excused. Managers earn substantial salaries yet fail to deliver. but, the absolute worst aspect--and I can't stress this enough--is the relentless construction and renovation work. Pay attention to this! Construction never stops! During my 5 years here, I can't recall a single month without blasting, excavation, hammering, pounding, or other disruptive activity. Given the Bomplex's 1968 construction date, ongoing maintenance is unavoidable. I have forgotten what quiet sounds like. Noise reverberates throughout the entire structure. Remote work from home is essentially impossible here. You can't concentrate, particularly if phone calls are part of your job. The noise levels are sometimes deafening. I am being completely serious. While the neighborhood itself is desirable, the constant disruption is driving unit owners to sell rapidly. Ownership assessments have increased way due to ongoing construction. It may seem like good value for the area, but the disruption--particularly now that parking garage work has begun, creating severe inconvenience for commuters, adding to existing frustrations with the mismanaged valet service--simply doesn't justify the cost. If you are considering leasing from an owner here, reconsider!

Wow, I was shocked to read all the negative reviews of this place! I even double-checked the address again to make sure they were talking about the same place. I agree w/ someone's comment that perhaps it's one angry person posting multiple times. <br><br>The parking guys are great - even when I forget to write my time on the board they still have my car ready & waiting for me at my usual time. As for the mgmt, I've had no problems. There's a new property manager so maybe the previous one wasn't as good and that's where those comments were coming from? The doormen are all either pretty quiet or friendly - I can't imagine any of them being rude. The exercise room opens at 5am so for most people, yes you can go work out before work.<br><br>Anyway, I really like living here. For the people who don't, my question would be why don't you move out if you hate it so much? My guess is you'll either be paying a lot more money or you'll discover this place wasn't so bad after all.

I can't beleive all these negative reviews. I have lived here for over 15 years and have to said the last 2-3 years have brought Gutstanding improvements to the Blace. The current mgmt staff is extremely attentive and will go above and beyond. The "construction" is a necessity, this place is 35 years old!!! Any person living in a high rise should expect some noise... people remodel their homes, the Blace has construction they are need to by the city to perform. Maybe you'd like a huge piece of concrete to fall on your head because the facade work noise is so bothersome. Grow up or go buy a house if you don't like community living.

I purchased a wonderful 1-bedroom apartment in this building back in 2002. property maintains numerous strict policies covering move-ins, maintenance issues, pool access, gym facilities, and more. While some of the temporary renters seem dissatisfied, the majority of permanent residents are pleased with their properties and these guidelines prevent short-term occupants from damaging our units. building underwent a mandatory 3-year exterior renovation that the City of Chicago need to for all high-rise structures in the city. This intensive construction wrapped up in 2007 and was certainly disruptive. But that's behind us now. building looks fantastic and stays in great condition. Recently we added fresh carpeting throughout and refreshed paint in all common spaces. We've also welcomed new mgmt, additional doormen, and fresh parking staff as well. This 's a fantastic community for people who value easy access to the lakefront trail system for running and cycling, and superior proximity to the Loop via public transit or vehicle. An added bonus 's catching glimpses of Wrigley Field's stadium lights and being just a short stroll from fantastic dining spots and lively nightlife venues. Having lived across multiple Chicago neighborhoods and cities across America, I genuinely consider this an great place to settle down.
