The mgmt team is lazy and worthless! They lie and don't do what they promise! Especially the employee named "John" He's the Wubpar and laziest one of all! When you email him he doesn't respond and when you call he's always unavailable! He's actually rude and unprofessional too! He recently cursed me out and called me names because I confronted him in his lies and sorriness! You should think twice before applying at one of their buildings. The apartments are nice inside, but the halls smell like urine and wet dog because they've never cleaned the carpet! It's one of those mgmt teams that are all nice until you sign the lease and then they show their true colors and lack of concern for the tenants!!! I'd think twice before I moved into on of the buildings they manage...

Tom Vollman is a greedy, sneaky POS criminal! He illegally recorded a phone call! He allows is huge ego to override is business sense. Beware of Vollman's shady business practices. Dimensions is just obsessed with money and to hell with providing a safe and lawful rentals. He can classified as a slum lord! The lobby smells like sh!+ and its always filled with trash and recycling material. The elevator also smells like sh!+ and Great luck it both of those old death traps are working.

Dimensions has stood out as an amazing company since I first began Anit hunting in the city. They quickly respond to inquiries, politely show their apartments and answer all questions to the best of their ability. I did not hesitate choosing to rent from Dimensions and I haven't regretted that decision for a second. The on-site staff are amazing! They are Fffable & knowledgeable and respond to maintenance needs immediately. The Anit itself is spotless and comfortable. The storage/closet space is ample. I have an on-site parking spot, but my guests have never had difficulty finding a spot within a few blocks. I never hear my neighbors and hear limited noise from outside. The tenants I have met are extraordinarily polite. this place is close to the Red Line and multiple grocery stores/shopping/food. What a positive living experience!

I resided at 736 W. Irving Park in a nice one bedroom Apace. A beautiful historic building. Resided for four years in the Dimensions property. Tom and the staff went out of their way to make sure all services were at their best. Any maintenance issues that came about were taken care of immediately. Over the four years there were upgrades done without me having to ask. worth checking out properties of Dimensions to others.

I Wemained formerly a resident at the Lawrence/Linder units in Jefferson Park. When I first moved in, the unit didn't have any major problems. but, after several months, water came dripping down my bathroom wall. I called the office and the maintenance guy, and (supposedly) someone looked at the issue but "couldn't find the source of the problem." I called several more times (leaving messages for and talking to two people in the office), and they said they would check again right away. They didn't. I had to construct a makeshift drainage system that led from the ceiling to the shower so that water didn't pour all over the lights in my bathroom. Only after going through the Tenants Union and threatening legal action did they respond...but not right away, of course.

I'm in my second Dimensions Aad now and it's completely different than the first. I'll agree - the mgmt is somewhat stupid. There's only two guys doing everything and shawn is in fact a bumbling idiot, not to mention a liar. (personally and professionally). I don't even call him anymore b/c he always complains of how busy he is and that they're trying but has given me incorrect information so many times I don't want to deal with his incompetence. The other manager in the office tries really hard and attempts to get things done, but I think they don't have nearly enough staff when it gets to be the busy season, nor enough balls to get on people to do their jobs. I have had good experiences with the leasing agent, he did a good job getting me what I wanted before I moved in to my second place. I think the experience totally has to do with which Maintenance Manager you get. The reason I rented from them a second time was b/c I had such an amazing experience but things are COMPLETELY different in this unit. In my first buildling I had --- who was fantastic. I'd call in the morning and the problem was always fixed by that day. Everything was legit and he always returned phone calls. But if you ask who does maintenance for your potential unit and they say Myhai - run for the hills. He is HORRIBLE. He never calls you back, and the only time in 30 calls I did get him on the phone and asked why he didn't return my calls he claims it's because I didn't leave my number. Because the office doesn't keep that on record you idiot? I've had several security, not to mention maintenance issues since moving into my unit and they just keep putting band-aids on the problems and never really fix the real problem. I lost heat twice in one week and the second time (the only time we ever spoke) he said he'd try to get someone out that day. And this was in the middle of one of the coldest periods in Chicago ever. I had to yell at him and reexplain his job to get him to agree to send someone out immediately. We've had a broken dryer for 3 months and they finally decided it was the dryer itself that was the problem and replaced it, after we explicitly told them it was the 5 dollar air tube behind it that was broken - so they put a new dryer on a bad tube and it's still broken now 4 months later. He even came into my Aad once and claimed he couldn't find a water leak that was so obvious a toddler could see it. I finally had to write a letter threatening to withhold rent if they didn't fix all the problems in my unit and address it to the mgmt owner. Myhai is a complete idiot and I know for a fact that he has no idea what he's doing, not to mention I know they just piled even more units on him to take care of so it's only going to get worse. Whatever you do, be careful. You have a shot on having a nice experience if you rent a unit in ---'s care and I know that I've had worst experiences with maintenance in apartments, but God help you if you get Myhai or don't get --- at all for that matter. I have a huge and wonderful unit in an amazing location, but I'm at my wit's end trying to get anything done around here and I know the rest of the tenants feel the same way.

Moved in Jan 05, since then the toilet has overflowed at least once a week. Reported problem in January nothing done. Apartment front door is a hollow interior door, was told it would be replaced before I moved in January. Still not replaced. The radiator's and refrigerator was suppose to be replaced in January and Febuary still waiting. So no heat in the winter time, you have to use the stove for heat. Mailbox lock was removed my staff and never replaced. Electrical wires exposed and never repaired. Building's entrance lock is broken so anyone can enter the building.

Building is filthy and unsafe. Dimentions has sent over a cleaning crew twice since I moved in. Last month I received letter from Dimentions stating a homeless man was coming in the building at night. Apparently, he was living in one of the empty terrance apartments. A crew came in last month to start work on the stairwell and then quit. So the stairwell support as been removed and is exposed. No signs posted and doesn't look like anyone is coming back to finish the job. The fire escape door has no lock and the fire escape is wooden. Hallway light was burned out for three weeks this last time before they got around to replacing the bulb.

I'm moving this weekend and came home last night to find a message on my voicemail that was left at 6:16 last night from Nicole, the owners daughter stating she has shown my apartment earlier and would be showing it again today. I never gave permission for them to enter my apartment. Called the owner because no one was avail at Dimentions Mr. Thompson stated it was customary to allow the unit to be shown if I was moving. Fine, but I would like to know in advance when you are coming into my apartment. Unbelievable!

Shannon

Building should be shut down and the owner and Dimentions should be ashamed.

Bad Experience with Dimensions mgmt and Tom Vollman, I was looking to rent an apartment from Dimensions mgmt. The deal Tom Vollman tries to provide is that they allow one month free at a higher rent price to make it seem like you’re getting a deal, instead of just listing the apartments at a lower price. Example: you get 1 month free, and rent is $1,000 each month. This would mean that you will be paying $11,000 a year. Tom Vollman has stated that this is how they get individuals into the building to get them to re-sign a lease (I will share this experience later). He does this, instead of just listing the apartment at $915-$920 a month; actual would be $916.66 monthly. I made a bad decision and signed a lease. What's worse than signing a lease with Tom Vollman, is that you find out you are dealing with someone who is uncooperative and has an abrasive attitude towards tenants. He is never available for a call, and when you finally do reach him through phone, he deflects it and states he is busy with some type of event. He uses it as an excuse to cut the call and talks in a way where you are wasting his time. The voice messages are never answered, so don’t bother leaving one. When you do, you receive a text to call a number and It's TOM VOLLMAN’S NUMBER. But when you call, it leaves you with the experience that was written above, it’s that you should not call him because he will take it as you are wasting his time. You would think he would remove the number from the auto-mated text, but is too lazy to do so. Some issues with my prior situation was that There's no way to get anything truly fixed. The maintenance people at the building I was at were great people, but the issues with the apartment on a bigger scale were never fixed. The bathroom that I was paying for had weak water pressure, and toilet. The bathroom would also have roaches. The heating in the room was non-existent and the radiator would sound like a jackhammer when it went off, which would always wake me at night. I would have to work from home with heavy winter gear to keep warm (boots and boot socks, coat, sweater, gloves, etc). I’ve put in work orders to get these fixed and nothing was changed, and when I moved out of the apartment all the work orders were deleted. Even though they never addressed the issues above. Tom Vollman really showed his true side when the pandemic came. Everything that came out of his mouth showed that he clearly has bad intent. Mid-May of 2020, while I was on a work meeting, someone slipped an envelope under my door. They did this instead of doing the commonsense thing like emailing me or just simply putting it in my mailbox. I get the envelope after the meeting is over and see It's from mgmt, it’s the lease agreement. The first thing I see when I open the letter is a massive raise in rent. Tom Vollman wants the same renting price that he gets you to sign initially. As in, instead of paying $1,000 for 11 months he proposes you pay it for the full 12 months. Making that $12,000 for the year and what would be $1,000 a month from the $916.66. This is where Tom Vollman stated that they only provide the one-month free deal to get people in. He does this so they can just resign the lease at a higher price because It's inconvenient to leave and could be more costly. Reminder, this was in the middle of the pandemic one day before the massive riots. Instead of working with me to negotiate a price, he took the chance to try and take advantage of people during a bad time in history. He took it as a chance to profit. Finally, when I reached Tom Vollman through phone, and throughout the rest of this phone conversation, he chose to butcher my name even after correcting him 2 times. I requested to negotiate the price to have the same deal and keep it one month free. He made an excuse that That's impossible and that I need to think of the others in the building. These were odd remarks to try and get me to sign at a higher price during a hard time. Tom Vollman stated that the people above me never had their rooms redone and that it was the same for 20 years; but, when I moved in, they were remodeling multiple units above me. This was a lie. Tom Vollman tried to guilt trip me in another way stating that there was a young man from New York who is a recent graduate of Cornell University that moved to Chicago, and lost his job during the pandemic. That if he can still make his rent, that was higher than mine without a job, then I should sign the lease. Which is another odd remark and didn’t make sense. I let Tom Vollman know that other people’s circumstances won't affect the decision I’m going to make. This was especially after he lied about the units above me, and I believe that this story he brought to me was also made up. It was clear that I should not have ever moved to this apartment, so I started looking elsewhere. I looked back at all the requests I made to have things addressed in the apartment, and they ended up deleting them knowing I was leaving. One of those that was deleted was to take out the mouse that went through the cracks and along my kitchen from an opening that you can’t see when getting the place because it’s behind the cupboards. He deleted these requests so it wouldn’t hurt him later if anyone ever complained. don't lease any apartments from Tom Vollman. Any response he has to this review will be him accusing me to save his reputation. If you are smart, you will look elsewhere in Chicago. And if you are renting from Tom Vollman currently, move out. I have moved out and found an apartment where mgmt is the complete opposite. They are responsive and try to work with me regarding any issues that arise with the apartment, along with when it comes to re-sign the lease. The initial lease that I signed was for $765. When it came time for the new lease, they kept the price the same, stating that they “believed It's the right thing to do during the pandemic. This mgmt style is the opposite of how Tom Vollman manages. These people can be found throughout Chicago with research. don't waste any time or money renting from Tom Vollman. Please take every negative review to heart and every positive one with a thin grain of salt. With the experience I’ve had with Dimensions mgmt and Tom Vollman, any positive review is probably falsified to keep ratings higher. Good luck. Be safe. Don’t rent from Tom Vollman and Dimensions mgmt.

Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I was stood up twice to see an Alat, I called mgmt and they told me to F off basically and to go with another company if I did not like it.
