This Blace has a Seighty roach problem. Security presence is bad. There's only a single security guard for a 22 floor Blace. Over the last year, there has been a shooting inside the Blace and a stabbing on the grounds. mgmt fails to inform tenants about these safety concerns, so it's important to get information from other residents. Water pipes are constantly under "maintenance," held together with duct tape (I've witnessed this firsthand). The elevators frequently malfunction. One of the office staff members uses the freight elevator to access the 22nd floor (where I believe she resides) and shuts it down in the evening. If the other 2 elevators happen to be malfunctioning, residents hoping to get upstairs better be on the lower levels. Residing here feels like living in a high rise public housing Blace. I deeply regret not learning about these conditions before moving in. I'm actively trying to leave, but hesitant to move my belongings due to concerns about bringing roaches into my new place. this place is filthy overall, but these problems remain hidden until after you've already signed a lease.

I relocated here in August 2014, anticipating it would be a fantastic start given that this was my first Prea. Within just a few days of being in the unit, I already wished I'd never signed the lease due to finding roaches scattered across my kitchen counters, on the fridge, throughout the bathroom, and crawling on living room surfaces. The landlord has been aware of this pest problem from day one, and despite being someone who maintains an immaculate home and stays on top of cleaning, absolutely nothing has improved. They bring in cheap contractors who perform bad treatments merely for appearance's sake, resulting in weekly exterminator visits to address this persistent issue. I've been scouting for different places practically since arriving, and this has undoubtedly been the worst twelve months of my life here. August couldn't arrive soon enough for me to leave!!!

Stay away from Michigan Beach Apts! This Prea is a pest-ridden, dumpy project-style complex. I foolishly decided to rent here because I desperately needed housing immediately. I have called "mgmt" over 10 times in just 2 months reporting the relentless roach infestation. From day one of my move-in, I spotted 3 roaches within 24 hours. I have NEVER experienced or dealt with roaches before. I have kids & am a METICULOUS housekeeper! I am OBSESSED with cleanliness & sanitation & maintain my unit in pristine condition. I'm dealing with torn window screens & a badly discolored carpet (which appeared clean right after getting shampooed). I've had to spray down my hallway to combat the intense pot odor wafting around. Beyond the roach nightmare, the TOTAL LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM regarding ignored calls is outrageous! There's absolutely no excuse for their indifference. Once your check clears, they adopt an attitude of, "Whatever..." I am desperately asking God to help me escape this nightmare! For anyone reading this, I truly hope & would be grateful if you could send positive thoughts & prayers my way for my family & children. Appreciate it. NOTE: I attempted to post without star ratings, but the system requires me to give at least 1 star.

I had been searching for a 1 bedroom Alat.....in the South Shore Area....where prices are quite steep. I visited Michigan Beach Apartments, and I was given a tour of 3 different 1 bedroom units, and I spotted no roaches and the elevators were functioning properly. I had reviewed the comments posted online before my visit, but I decided to go there anyway...and I discovered the comments to be inaccurate. I would have qualified to lease, if I had been employed for a year...They are firm about their tenant requirements...and they perform thorough background investigations on all applicants....which is FANTASTIC!!!!

There was a heat issue but now that the temperature is changing it's a little better. Unfortunately there are still roaches:( Every month they are exterminating and it doesn't do anything. And the building isn't kept clean enough to keep the roaches at bay.

I would not recommend this apartment to anybody. The management is terrible they have a million roaches which has not gotten any better at all. The only thing you would be gaining from moving here is an easier access to the six bus and a decent view while roaches crawl on your kitchen counter top so take your pick. Management needs to seriously do better

I am writing this from my perspective of living on the 19th floor. I've read a lot of reviews about this place that were negative but it could be because I was on the top floor. LOCATION: I liked living up high because I had a view (I was facing south and got to see the lake). I also liked that I was able to go running on South Shore headed towards the cultural center and run by the lake. Other than that the location is not in the best place (unless you have a car) There is no grocery stores around and a lot of places do not deliver that far east. You are basically in a food desert. The number 6 and number 24 is right at your door step. The 71 was about two blocks away. NOISE: I didn't really hear too much noise. I had a neighbor above me who's child liked to bounce a basketball but there wasn't too much. You do hear what's going on outside such as traffic noise. ELEVATOR: There are three elevators. One of them is the freight. Hopefully during your stay and if you live high, they don't all break down or the electricity goes off. There have been plenty of times where I had to climb up and down the stairs because the elevators were not working. LAUNDRY FACILITIES: There are washer and dryers on the property. It is a card system. You cannot use coins only bills. If the bills are stuck or it does not add in your card the building will not handle the issue. You have to call the service number on the machine. It is convenient but you just have to know when is a good day to wash for you so you don't have to wait for washers and dryers. MAINTENANCE: If you need maintenance you have to call to the office. It usually takes about a day or two. PARKING: There is paid parking on the property. I think you pay about 100 dollars a month. If you have a guest coming they may take awhile finding parking. If you don't want to pay 100 dollars a month there is street parking. There are a lot of spaces by the cultural center but you have to come early to get a good spot. AMENITIES: No workout room. Not really much extra. There is a community room that you can rent to have parties. STAFF: While I was there the company changed about three times. I leased this apartment because of a woman named Ms. Celeste helped me and she was so kind. Before I left it was owned by Sandlewood. The staff is ok. Not good and not bad SAFETY: As a single woman, I felt safe because I would get off the bus and head back to the apartment. I did not go south of 72nd street. MISC: This is an older building so it's not upgraded. They say they have upgraded some of the apartments but I have not seen one. There is no central air. The only air conditioner is in the living room so you wont feel it when you're in your bedroom. You will need to buy a fan. Vending machines are on the property that come in handy.

I moved here August of 2014, thinking it would be the best experience since this is my 1st apartment. Not even a couple days living in the apartment I regret ever moving in considering there were roaches on my counter tops, refrigerator, bathroom, and living room walls...management knew since I've moved in that I was having these issues, I'm a very clean person nd always keep my apartment cleaned but nothing has changed since I've been here, they hire these low budget ppl to do bogus jobs just to say it's been done, they come to exterminate the building every week because it's a ongoing situation. Ive been looking at apartments since I moved in, this has been the worst year of my life living here... August couldn't come fast enough!!!

Do NOT rent from Michigan Beach Apts! This is a roach-infested, glorified project building. I made the SERIOUS mistake of renting here bc I needed an apt right away. I have contacted "Management" at least 10 times within 2 mos to inform them of the constant roach problem. As soon as I moved in, I saw 3 roaches within a day. I have NEVER had or lived with roaches. I have children & am a SERIOUS cleaner! I HATE germs & filth & keep my apt immaculate. I have broken screens & a heavily stained carpet (which looked clean wet after the shampoo). I have to spray the hallway of my floor to counter the overwhelming marijuana smell. The roach problem is bad enough but the UNPROFESSIONALISM of unreturned phone calls is ridiculous! There is no legitimate reason for their apathy. As long as rent is paid, they feel like, "Oh well..." I am praying to God to deliver me from this hell! If u are reading this, I sincerely ask & would appreciate it if u would please pray things go well for me & my children. Thank you. NOTE:I tried posting this w/no star ratings, but I am forced to at least click 1 star.
