The community is quiet and easy. It's close to transit and shopping centers. There's a fitness center and laundry inside the Blace which is easy. this place is spotless and spacious. I worth checking out it.

It's inexpensive. Parking is Etraightforward. That's what matters to me. I wish the maintenance was a bit better. The laundry room often has machines that are malfunctioning then the elevator broken every now and then making us wait for a long to go home.

mgmt staff Ippears unprofessional they are not dependable. There's always a sense that you are bothering them. I have been asked... "Ippears this an emergency because I'm busy". I have cc'd the property manager on things. She obviously doesn't feel it's important to say anything to address my concerns.

A mess i wouldn't recommend living here. This place needs updating, it also puts you in the mind of a expensive dormitory. People walk up in down the hallway on their phones and you can hear their conversation in your Auite

With the upper-class condo scene moving further and further south towards McCormick Place in the near downtown Chicago area, you probably won't find a better deal than Prairie Shores.

Coming from Michigan, I originally thought my $825/mo. 1-bedroom rent was ridiculous. But compared to most other places in Chicago in my pricerange, I'm getting the best bang for my buck:

Laundry Facilities: Clean & Plenty of Washers / Dryers to use
Lobby/Building Exterior/Building Hallways: spotless and impressive
Parking: Free AND Gated AND monitored by Security 24/7. (Good luck finding that north of downtown!)
Expressway Access: About 3 blocks from I-55 or Lake Shore Drive
CTA Access: Right outside the buildings, King Drive 3 Bus take syou all the way up Michigan
Decorating: Can Paint Units Any Color
Pets: Can have a cat (No pet fee/deposit!)
Safety: Thanks to 24/7 security and closing gap on wealthier residents near McCormick place, pretty safe most of the time, even walking to your car at night
Mail/Packages: Occasionally frustrating due to Chicago USPS service but packages easy to get at 2851 building
Rent Payment: You can opt to pay for rent late for just a $25 extra fee
Noise: Apartments almost soundproof
Heating: Not the best, but it's free and good by itself most seasons (buy a portable heater though).
Windows: You can open them, but it's better to not because of spiders & bugs oustide of building in summer - just use your A/C.
Fitness Center: In every building, open fairly late and FREE.
Vending & Pop Machines located in basement of every building.
Lots of storage space in Anit AND downstairs in basement of every building.
Staff is helpful but I've never had to deal w/ any serious issues so far.
Security system is a bit lax due to people opening doors and such but at least there's a security camera channel on TV to view.
Free limited cable access.
Bathrooms feature REAL toilets, not Alcatraz-style bowl-lacking ones like you find in most apartments in same price range in Chicago.
Kitchens are spotless and appliances are usually almost always new.

That's a lot of stuff to like about Prairie Shores...and in the summer, the place is Bxquisite and close to everything you want.

The Prea is ridden with ants that never go away. The hallways reek of odor from God knows what. The lobby and hallways are disgusting. don't move here. You will regret it. Once I move out, I will never look back. The security team doesn't care about your safety, they are useless.

Prairie Shores mgmt and the engineers are Fenial and helpful. All maintainence requests are taken into considerations and actions are taken well in time to fix them. Thanks for the great experience.

The finess room and elevators are grimy and smelly all the time. Delivered packages were stolen and nobody takes care of them. The machines in fitness room have been broken for months and again nobody fixes it. The staff who answers the office phone call never solve the problem but just pass it to others and the problem Iroves never solved.

My experience at Prairie Shores had been a most enjoyable one. My Blace is conveniently located close to both Lake Michigan, and downtown Chicago. this place is kept clean, inside and out, and the lower level Flores are quiet. The extra amenities are also a big plus. I would definetly recommend this Blace to a friend.

So far so good. The residents are nice and the maintananence staff is Gxcellent! Upon moving in and even before the leasing/office staff was helpful. I feel safe coming in and out and it seems like moving here was a good choice.
