The building has a bed bug problem. Don't risk it; it's not worth it.

Pros: - Great neighbourhood - close to the lakeshore, great food, the zoo - Very safe locale - Maintenance staff is excellent - all complaints answered in a day - Rent was cheap (when I started though it kept getting hiked each year) - I had a pretty good experience living here Cons: - Building is old, looks a bit like a haunted motel - No AC - and it gets VERY hot and humid in Chicago for a few months in summer - Steam heating - and THIS is why this place gets a 3 star rating - because the steam pipes clang like the -----'s own piano night after night after night all through winter! I swear just when you think it's over the damn thing wakes you up at 4am - the 2nd straight week this happens you will get tired of it I swear

BED BUG!!!!! BED BUGS!!!!! AND RUDE MANAGEMENT!!!!!!! I recently moved into this apartment building on June 1 2013. I am very displeased with everything from the management company to the bed bug infestation in this building. On Thursday 6/26/13 as I was laying around in my apartment I got up and saw a bed bug and I instantly called the management company. When I reported what I saw the leasing agent tried to blame it on me but then indicted that they did not have a bed bug infestation in a long time. She then went on to say that the exterminator will not be available until Monday 7/1/13 a whole four days from when I reported the problem. I indicated that bed bugs spread fast and I need someone immediately thus could she see if someone could come on as soon as possible. She said she would check but never got back to me. Then on Friday morning 6/28/13 I called but no one answered until 12pm at that time the leasing agent told me the exterminator had been in my apartment without my notification. However, they indicated that I should go to the apartment to check the work order. As such, I checked the work order which only indicated that delta dust was put down in my apartment. I then went to the leasing office to see if the exterminator could come back out they stated that it was against their policy to have him come back until a week later and that I would have to pay for him to come again". They also stated that I would have to pay to have him come out again. However, I still have questions i.e. where the origin, how long have they been there is. I requested the exterminator's number which they gave to me after I complained for several minutes; I called him and left several messages but no response. I have also emailed the leasing agent and the CEO of the company ----------- but no response. I am now paying $500 dollars of my own money to get a real exterminator that will heat my whole apartment and perform the proper three step treatment process. They also have yet to inform my neighbors of my bed bug problem as they spread to other apartments and have not even taken prevention by inspecting the apartments around me. It disheartens me how rude and non-responsive they have been. I am left with heavy bill, bites all over my body and a rude management company. Please do not rent here. I am currently aiming to get out of my lease. It is just sad how they treat their tenants. Signed Displeased Tenant

I recently moved into this building and I am really happy with it. The staff is very friendly and the neighbors are great! Having 3 kids and being a single mom can take a toll on a person. So living in a safe environment where my children can walk outside and not having to worry is a plus on my end.....and the fact that it s affordable does not hurt! Well, they will be seeing me here for a while!

Moving this summer to a bigger apartment. I found this apartment to be a great value for the year I lived here. I had a top floor corner apartment and thoroughly enjoyed the location next to the park and lake. The neighborhood is about the best in Chicago and the management is great (despite awkward humor) as they respond to polite calls and requests immediately. This building is not in stellar quality, kitchens and facilities are growing tired, but are still sufficient and adequate. Outlets, cable jacks and phone jacks are a bit sparse. Street parking is a juggling act, it's free and available with patience, but those valets from Ambria, Mon Ami Gabi, etc can be real b*stards about eating up the limited spaces and in summer (air and water show) don't move your car during daylight. It beats the alternative of $275/month. In short, this apartment was a great value for a recent grad, but grew a bit cramped after my girlfriend moved in. If you should happen to come across an updated apartment in this building, snag it! For a mere $1000/month you live in an apartment on Lincoln Park West!
