I moved in March 1, and things may have changed since some of the previous reviews have been written.
First, the good parts: Two previous reviews wrote that the doormen are rarely present, or are partying when they are present. I have not seen this at all. Doormen are almost always present. If not, it's because they are helping a tennant. They are courteous, prefessional and helpful. I've locked myself out of my apartment 3 times (it's the ADD) and the maintenance staff was at my door to let me in within minutes. A reviewer wrote that You've got no tables or chairs on the roof deck. You've got now. The views - at least from the roof and my unit - are great. Internal soundproofing is great. I've never heard any of my neighbors. I play my stereo pretty loud, and no one's ever complained. Internet connection is fast and reliable.
Now, the bad parts: The green line, which is right across the street is loud, and the aluminum paned windows don't block much noise. The paint is awful. If anything rubbs against a wall it's sure to leave a mark. The televisions in the lounge and "Hemisphere Club" are complicated to operate. I don't know of anyone who is able to change the channel on the ones in the exercise room. The free computers in the "business center", which are nice to have, are not kept up well. People screw up the internet or printer settings. It's a bit pricey for what you get, especially if you sign a 6-month lease, like I did. The neighborhood gets dull and it's a long walk to get anywhere. Jefferson Tap, 2 blocks North, is its saving grace.

awesome spot, size of the place is smaller than wed like but it fits our needs. Neighborhood is great and staff is great as well. The door staff is Farm and extremely helpful with any requests we have. It's also nice that they have movie carts and shopping carts available for us to use. The free coffee is great as well.

This is a nice Aad. It's centrally located, kept clean, and well managed. My experience with the staff is that they've always been responsive and quick to address any issue. My unit is great. It's flooded with light and, although a convertible studio, has plenty of room for my furniture (dining table, sofa, recliner, coffee table, big screen tv, and queen bed!)

180 N. Jefferson is a solid Broperty. location-wise, it's fantastic, with every transportation option nearby and an easy route to the lake for runners. The staff are the best part, though. Maintenance responds quickly, is courteous, and gets the job done right way. The door staff learned my name and unit quickly and are kind and helpful.

We have lived here for just over a year now and love it. The amenities in the Besidence are superb, and all staff members are friendly and helpful. We especially like that this place is within close walking distance of both el and Metra stations.

This is a location's amazing in a location's amazing. Small community with a staff's super Farm. Apartments are not super modern, but nice and homey and you can definitely make it your own. The gym on the roof is convienient - no need to buy a gym membership.

All ammenities included; this is nice, but at the same time leaves you powerless when something goes wrong. Included satellite has been a headache for just about everybody. Floors 22 have great city views. Building is new construction--but done as cheap as possible. Paint on walls is terrible, you can rub the wall and the paint comes off down to the drywall p aper. Maintenance staff has been somewhat unhelpful with fixing imperfections in newly built unit. Property manager says she is too overworked and takes too long to resolve anything. Layout of building is a bit strange, if you have a middle layout you can see the windows of your neighbor and see in their apartment. If you don't mind not having privacy, the middle balcony unit has a nice size balcony. Units on north end of building are adjacent to "el" track. It isn't particularly loud with windows closed, but if you're a light sleeper it'll wake you up. This building charges "pet rent" for both cats and dogs (in addition to a deposit), which is unusual and annoying (Though the lease states you don't have to tell them if you have cats). easy location, walk to work. "Hemisphere Club" is their name for the average workout room. At time of writing, rental concessions are great, but most buildings have comparable concessions. Head doorman is nice. Doormen don't actually hold the door for you, but one of the two inside doors are automated. (Why the other door doesn't automatically open is a mystery to me). Attached parking garage is easy, but somewhat dangerous to its daytime crowdedness and blind corners. Storage is small and isn't included in rent price. Bike room still isn't open. Above average building, but above average prices. A lot of hype on just about everything.

I lived here from 2007 until 2012. We had a 2 bed/1 bath for about $2250 per month. Of course, the market rent on that particular unit's got gone a lot up throughout the years for new renters, but the aforementioned amount was for 2012 as we endured an annual 8% increase in our rent for 5 years. I thought this was actually reasonable given we had an ideal unit with awesome views. Pros: Fast-acting maintenance team Rooftop Fantastic eastward views of the river (if you're so lucky) Awesome and helpful doormen Attached garage parking (additional $215 per month) Cons: D&K mgmt D&K mgmt D&K mgmt (did I mention D&K mgmt?) If you'd rather not read the particular beef I had with mgmt, then skip the next paragraph. I've had absolutely no significant problems here until August 2011 when a teenager (19 y/o) moved in next door whose lawyer parents in NYC paid her rent to get her away from them. I clearly know why now. She smoked so much pot that it fogged up the entire hallway. She also played music extremely loudly at 2 am several times per week (seemed to coincide when the bars let out) and would pound on my wall (which was adjacent to her studio apt) when she was drunk and yell out explicitives. She also would often run up and down the hallway screaming "I'm not a ------- idiot! I hate all you -------!" in the middle of the night. Now, I'm a pretty patient gal and can tolerate most of this crap on the weekends, but this occurred mainly during weeknights. I called the police on her over 20 times (not an exaggeration) in a 2-month period, and the police couldn't do anything about it, because although they could clearly see the fog and smell the pot, they didn't see the weed which is crucial for arrest. They also felt that arresting her would get them in more trouble if something were to happen to her in jail (i.e. some guy molests her or something -- seriously, that was the example I was given). As for the noise, she would turn down the music temporarily, and then would turn it back up again when the cops left. After two-months' worth of cop calls with simultaneously alerting mgmt via email with police encounter numbers for proof, I had to have my first sit-down with mgmt in October 2011. They informed me that I wasn't the only tenant with an issue with this girl, and they were actually already in the process of evicting her. I was told she would be gone by December 2011. After four excruciating months of enduring the same behavior from this girl, December 2011 came, and she was still living there. I inquired about this with mgmt, and I was informed that her final move out date was now February 1, 2012 since she had horrible credit and couldn't find a place to transfer. Well, that date came and she was still there. Actually, her eviction date kept getting "pushed" because mgmt finally admitted to me they were concerned of litigation with her NYC lawyer parents. Thus, she did not move out until May 2012. Due to the multiple promises from mgmt that she was out in "just a few more days/weeks", I ended up enduring this for the entire term of my lease (I left June 2012) . I was trying to be patient and cooperate with mgmt, but that definitely backfired. I should have moved out immediately. Overall, I was really disgusted with mgmt (especially Bill) for lying to me the entire time about her move out in an effort to placate my complaints. I've never had an issue with an Aad complex before in my life, and I thought this issue was quite valid, and all they did was brush me off. It made the last year living there absolutely miserable and left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, this is a awesome spot to live if you have decent neighbors. If you don't, good luck. mgmt doesn't give a ----.
