I have lived here for some time and the apartment just keeps getting worse and worse. First of all, there are shopping carts in the halls which people insist on rolling back and forth at all times of the day and night. It's very loud on the tile floors which cover the all the hallways. Second, there have been numerous blackouts and alarms going off as a result of water pipes apparently bursting. Third, the TV was recently stolen from the gym. This was the only nice feature of the gym (since it's dark and the equipment is from 1980). Now we all get to workout in silence. Fourth, they are always posting annoying notices on our doors about the water being turned off for some ridiculous reason. I have never lived in an apartment in which the water has been turned off so much. Fifth, and most importantly, apparently this building is invested with MOLD. Tenants have been moving out left and right, but, of course, management doesn't tell the tenants anything about it, BUT we all know what's going on. Please don't live here. Look at Park LaBrea across the street, it's old but at least it's not a dump and it's reasonably priced.

Living here a long long time unfortunately. Not always easy to relocate when one is self employed or a new job or small children. So many of us have been stuck here and I mean stuck for a long time. Power goes out about 2x a year and its NEVER their fault. Water is shut down for a day monthly with no reimbursements. Elevator breaks down weekly. Horrible smell in the building. Manager, ------, is the most stubborn unpleasant Manager you will ever face. Many have moved out because of her or just evade her because she is so nasty and controlling. Now MOLD has infested the building. People are getting sick and most are symptomatic. Truth be told we are building a case against them and hope to get the building shut down. It needs to be rebuilt. 25 years of not maintaining a building can lead to these problems. Doctors have even called this building, "Sick Building Syndrome." Most of us are miserable just miserable. We feel so sorry when we see people moving in and we want to warn them, "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE." Pipes in garage break out of no where causing mass flooding and they make up some sort of excuse as to why it happened. They try to make the outside look nice to manipulate people to come in but no one has any idea what they will endure once living here. Most brake their leases or get out after 1st year. We weren't that lucky. They dont give a damn about us - we are just a rent check. The owner ----- -------- has lawsuit after lawsuit pending against him by many of his buildings. Seems as though mold has infested most of his buildings. You can google -------- & ---- & Mold and catch up on previous lawsuits. He also is known to be quite The Slum Landlord and in a few short months will probably be investigated by The IRS and FBI for the way he runs his company, and all his VERY unethical business deals. Apparently worse than -------------. AIG associations and unethical dealings with HUD. Very very shady. Will not be surprised if its all over every news channel. Dont bother calling corporate with any problems you will simply be ignored. Mold is turning up in unit after unit and ------ told staff "If you tell tenants there is mold in their units, you will be fired." We hope to be naming her an upcoming class action lawsuit. They even had to evacuate several units due to mold testing coming up with high levels of toxins. They actually let one family live in their unit for 3 weeks after having the results prior to telling them they needed to move out. Beyond unethical and borderline illegal. All I can say is "RUN!!!!"

The management staff is excellent. Works very hard to accomodate the needs of residents. Very friendly. The facility is very nice, although the entire neighborhood has had some electric problems lately (not related to the building itself). I would definitely recommend this property.

Incredibly overpriced. Things are constantly breaking and needing repair. Ants, silverfish and termites - when I mentioned needing spraying, they sent up a non-english speaking maintenance person with a can of Raid. You're stuck with DirecTV and AT&T DSL, both very unreliable, because of some third-party kickback agreement. Drunk kids jumping in the pool at 3 AM. Sometimes they pull the fire alarm instead, setting off a deafening klaxon in every apartment. Security is rude, surly, and often asleep. The scariest driving in LA is in the parking garage. Apparently, this bad reputation is getting to them, as many folks are moving out (myself included) and no one is moving in. Avoid, avoid avoid!!

I could list all kind of grievances about this place. Have lived here almost a year. The current problem-de-jour is that TV is out for at least half the building. Not because of some freak accident, but because of "upgrades" being done by the nitwit satellite company they contract to manage the building. There is only 1 option for TV service in the building: DirecTV. The company that manages the equipment is Metropolitan Satellite and they are pretty bad. "Upgrades" started on Monday and TV reception went away, so no TV for 5 days while they appear to be bumbling their way trying to fix everyone's reception in the building. It's still out as I type this, with no concrete promise by anyone (Sat company, DirecTV, or management). Here are further problems with the building: - Want to easily move in or out? It's in the museum section of Miracle Mile, which means you will have NOWHERE legal to pull up a moving truck to. There is no dock to pull up to, and guest parking is always FULL (there are only a few guest spots for 200 residents). Further, the front elevator is not allowed to be used when moving in/out and NONE of the elevators in the building are freight elevators. - The elevators always smell. It's across the street from the Tar Pits. The area certainly looks nice, but the tar smell (which smells like a mix of warmed-over gasoline and hydraulic fluid) emanates constantly from the elevators. - At least once a month, they'll shut off the water for repairs. I don't know what it's like in other sections of the building, but I get these notices pretty regularly. The notice of shut-off is usually only 1-2 days before they do repairs. - The security presence is a joke. The security people are constantly rotated, but I do see some regulars. In any case, very few of the security people they put on staff will actually maintain any level of security. They'll let people in who obviously don't have keys. They'll click open gates for lines of cars (what is the point of electronic gates if anyone is allowed in/out without their clickers?) - The elevators are SLOW - Shopping carts are clearly not allowed in the building, yet I constantly hear people in the building rolling them through the tiled halls, leaving them in front of other people's apartments, and security never says a thing, and the grounds staff never report - they just wheel the carts out and take them off the grounds, only to have new ones appear. - You get 2 parking spots for your apartment, which sound great, until you realize it's tandem parking (one car behind another). So if you share your apartment with someone who doesn't keep the same schedule as you, be prepared to constantly play musical chairs with your cars. - Laundry facilities are the size of a closet. There are a few laundry rooms on each floor and so long as you use them on off-hours they will usually be available. But they're the size of a closet and have limited hours. - The main good points of this place is apartment sizes are decent, the location is good, and (at least from my experience) is generally quiet, although I think I live on a section of the building which tends to have quieter tenants. I know for a fact when I walk around that there are sections I would NOT want to live in - loud college students, party types... And, at least whenever I've had any issues, maintenance is usually handled fairly quickly and adequately. And the staff is friendly.
